Divamaterialx2 - do you have any pics of ur scan?
I also have a little boy who is 4years old. Pregnant with 2nd baby and got an u/s last week at 6wks 3days. We were told near enough straight away it was another boy. we are obviously over the moon at the fact he is healthy and well. Although...i have to say, i feel terrible for it, but i felt a sudden surge of disappointment as we were so sure it was a little girl and looking forward to having a daughter. I was wondering the same as you, has anyone out ther had wrong gender at 16wk u/s? and could you PLZ take a look at my scan pic and give me your thoughts as to gender ( still think im having a girl ). thank you.

Don't stress about that you still have a good chance of it being a girl since your only 15 weeks wait 2 more weeks then find out it will be more accurate

Hi Everyone,
Just joined the forum:) Looking for some sort of answers or stories to share, but simply I guess some support.....
Just came back from my u/s. I'm 15 w, 6 days pregnant. Asked a u/s tech to take a look at baby's gender. At first, she pointed out 3 lines - and I clearly saw them. A girl!!!!! However, a bit later she pointed out to what seems to be a little penis! So at that point I was just laughing - well after all we ended up with 50/50 boy/girl chance. But the tech said it was pretty clear to her that it's a boy. Alright, can't hide that i'm a bit bummed. Wanted a girl as we already have a little boy...... Anyway, my question, ladies, does it happen to anyone else: a girl turned out to be a boy and otherway around? How often does it happen? Again, I'm just 15w6d, perhaps a bit early to tell the gender, but at the same time the tech was confident it a boy..... don't know what to think.......Any thoughts? Stories? Thanks!:)

hey. i was wondering if anyone else was having an of these 'weird' is issues i've been having. i went to my first obgyn appt. yesterday thinking i was around 7-8 weeks because my last normal period being oct. 8 (i bled abnormally nov. 13 for a few days). they couldnt see my baby or sac on the ultrasound and did some bloodwork. my doctor thinks i'm earlier than we expected being more likely at 4-5 weeks. anyone else not able to see their baby that early?

hi everyone. for other reason, i had an ultrasound at 16 weeks with my doctor so i asked her if she could take a peek at the gender. she said she is not good at gender determinations so she had the tech come in who said it was a boy. it did look like a penis to me but i obviously have no clue what i am looking at. i wanted to know if anyone ever went at 16 weeks and they said boy and then at 20 week say it was a girl? i am pretty sure i saw the 'turtle head'. i can try to post a pic later. i am just wondering other peoples experience bc i know 16 week is a little early! TIA.

I have just had my ultrasound and my little one looks good. She has a heart beat of 163 bpm at 12weeks and she looks to be very healthy. I am very grateful and thankful for this.

i am just over 20 weeks and just had my level 2 UC. we got some very cool pic of our little princess, but then they told us that there where 2 'soft markers'. one was a CPC and the other was a bright spot on her heart. me and my husband are both in our late 20's and healthy, all my genetic screening blood work came back perfect and she said that the baby looks beautiful other than the 2 little markers they saw, but because i have 2 my risk of DS and T18 are increased slightly. kinda put a damper on the day =( but to brighten the moment she told us that the odds of it being anything are so slim that she wouldn't even suggest a amino and would actually encourage us not to get one.. so thats good right ? this is coming from the Parienatologist at the UC facility . just wish they didnt tell us anything ! makes my head hurt.

aeb - like mom of three, my last child had gastroschesis and I had repeated multiple and lengthy sonograms through the pregnancy - probably 10-15 total (plus an amnio) and it did not cause any kind of neurological issues. I wouldn't worry too much, quite the opposite. This pregnancy being considered high risk for me (both because of my age, previous births with congenital defects, and because its been 14 years since I last gave birth) I am actually concerned they're not planning to peak in on the baby more often than they are (about once a month)

Mom-o-three - thanks so much for your reassurance and for sharing your experience with your son. I'm sorry you had to go through that in your pregnancy - I'm sure it was stressful. I hope your son is doing okay now.

Aeb-- we found out my son had gastroschisis when I was 17 weeks preg. After that was detected I had 1 ultrasound every 2 weeks until 30 weeks then went to 2 weekly because he had to be monitered so close to make sure he was doing ok. He's had no problems from the ultrasounds and I am so glad they kept such a close check on him -he had to be delivered early the u/s showed his heart was weakening. So from personal experiences I don't think multiple ones hurt anything

Hi All - Just wondering if any of you have noticed any problems in your babies/children after delivery possibly due to the number of ultrasounds you had..? I have been diagnosed with placenta previa and am scheduled to have my 5th ultrasound on Nov. 3, to see if by chance the placenta has moved. (I will be 36 wks). I was just reading how the safety of ultrasounds has not really been proven and repeated exposure to the fetus could cause neurological problems, possibly even autism. I'm really nervous now.. wish i had read this stuff earlier! :(

LizK-- if you are considered high risk pregnancy than you should definitely have an u/s before 20 weeks, specially you should not miss your NT scan which is done at 12 weeks. I am 19weeks 4days today and having my anatomy scan tomorrow which would be my 10th u/s.. I had a few episodes of bleeding lately and so I had total 3 scans at the ER (5weeks, 16weeks and 18 weeks). But rest I had at my doctor's. It's always good to have a caring doctor who keeps an eye on you. I would advice to seek a second opinion or you can talk to your doctor and let him/her know how you feel or what you want.

LizK Where are you based? I'm in Ireland and we only get 2 scans per pregnancy, and 3 if you're considered at risk. The first scan is at 12 weeks and is also your dating scan, 20 weeks is wellbeing, and one around 30 weeks if you are at risk for a condition, like GD.
There are private companies you can go to for an early scan, and if you are considered high risk, I would definitely seek a second opinion. Dr does not always know best. Remember, it's your body, and most importantly your BABY. Do what your gut tells you.

LizK:
my opinion would be asking around different ob's this doesnt sound right. at least not from Michigan. I have had one done already and i was seven weeks and one day. I am not known as a high risk pregnancy. they just wanted to make sure that everything was looking good for the date and there was only one (or so we could see at the time) i would absolutely go get another opinion tell the dr that you are a little confused and worried and hopefully they can help you out. hope this helps a little bit and my thoughts are with you

I am curious - I am a high risk preg and they are not sending me for an U/S until 20 weeks? That will be the first one. Should I be seeking a second opinion? So many of you are having them already. ( I am 9w2d)

I have just had my 1st scan this morning in the EDU. I was 9w4d going in and now I'm 10w1d leaving with a scan of my 'big' baby! (the baby is not huge, it's just a shock to see the baby bigger than we expected!) I wasn't expecting it at all!
Our baby arms and legs we wiggling away and it's heart was flashing like a little beacon! We are delighted everything is going good. I have a scan with my consultant on 4th Oct so fingers crossed our Squirt is flying around!

hey there everyone ! im new to this site and the forums. found out i was pregnant 3 weeks ago, and per my LMP i was 5 weeks at that time. had first doctors appt. today and was told per the CRL of the baby that i was only 6 weeks pregnant, =) how dose that work ? heard the heart beat too! MD said that it was the baby and not my own. will be interesting if the 12 week ultrasound says different =). congrats to all expecting mommy's out there !

They do it based on your insurance a lot of the time. I know some insurances only pay for 1 or 2 ultrasounds the whole pregnancy, unless there is a complication that requires it. I had a scan at 8 weeks to confirm and they won't give me another one until I'm 20 weeks. At my 12 and 16 week appts they are only checking the heartbeat.

I think they always do one around 12 weeks because thats when they do the downs syndrome testing
