I got this with both my kids almost a year ago and it was pretty benign, but a pain! We had bumps on our throats, hands, and feet ( hurt to walk) and fevers...lasted about a week!

My son was diagnosed with it a few days ago.It started out with bumps on his diaper area.By the end of the day it had spread to his legs next to his diaper and a few spots here and there. The next day they were all over the place!!It looks quite a bit like chicken pox.Day three now and the blisters are scabbing over and he is eating a little better. He never did get a high fever. He is 28 months old.I don't know where he caught it at.I can't wait 'till it's over!!I did get a few bumps and a sore throat.I don't know whether or not it's the same thing though.

I think that its also important to note that this virus can spread through the air like a cold as well.
'They can also be spread through droplets of fluid sprayed into the air when someone sneezes or coughs.'--http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/bacterial_viral/coxsackie.html#
I caught this virus when I worked in a restaurant when I was 16, and I always washed my hands and I still got it, so be wary, its not just for kids. I got it from a co-workers kid that she brought to work with her, and her daughter sneezed and coughed all over the place, there were two other people at work that caught it from her kid too.

my chilcdwho is 2 has HFMD. It started first with a high temperature and he'd been a bit grumpy a few day befor and we noticed he kept tip toeing around (to avoid standing on hiss feet). After the high temp the next day i noticed the sores in his mouth and he went off eating and drinking. i took him to the doctor who said it was just a virus but that evening these spots came up everywhere, hand feet, bum legs arms. they seemed worse when his temperature was higher. I panicked and thought he had meningitus because he seemed so ill - we took him to Aand E the doctor confirmed it was HFMD gave us a presciption for a mouth spray. Its now hours later he still cant eat - he is screaming his head off when he drinks - i have called the emergency doctor service for advice so many times over the past couple of day i think they'll put a black mark by my name! I am pregnant at the moment and i think i have had it mildly - just a sore mouth thats getting better. I read on the internet that there are some links with pregnant women having HFMD having small babies and unexplained miscarriages but this isn;t clearly proved and VERY rare - the doctor told me not to worry at all. This is one of the first childhood viruses we've experienced in our house - i just hope the others aren;t as bad as this!

Aliyah broke out on a sunday and was better on Wed. She still had a few blisters on her legs and feet but I could tell she was feeling so much better.

Today Aliyah got lesions all over her legs, butt, and arms. Also has blisters in her mouth. I really thought we weren't going to get it. I just feel so sorry for her. I could tell today that she was extra cranky. Even though I haven't noticed any fever I went ahead and gave her some tylenol. Maybe that will help with the pain in her mouth. I am going to talk to her ped in the morning just to confirm this and to ask when she can go back to daycare. I hope I don't have to keep her home all week. Does anyone know how long she is contagious?

This is going around in my daughters class at daycare. She will be 1 next week. She doesn't have it but her teacher gave me some info about this. Man I hope she doesn't get it. Every day I check her mouth for blisters.

I had it when it was pregnant and it was really a pain. My mouth hurt like hell and I couldnt eat at all or dring anything to hot or to cold. I was in my first trimester and was so stressed I was starving my baby. My fever was at 102.8 and really should have went to the hospital but didnt know it at the time. I was given this stuff I had to gargle with it was supwe sweet to me and I would gag on it. I lived on room temp. Ensure for almost two weeks.

Does anyone out there know, Is this disease dangerouse to pregnant women? I have no idea if I've ever had it, but my best friend's daughter has it and I haven't been able to see her for almost two week for fear of my kids or I getting it! Now her husband has it, so it could be another two weeks before we can have our weekly 'ladies night' at her house! I miss her and I just wonder how big a risk it would be to me and my baby (I'm nearly 26 weeks) to just give in and go see her at the play area of the mall or have her over here. I know she could be a carrier, so I'm kind of leary.
