   It's the aussie was of saying Shantelle - just as it sounds. The name actually originates from Chantel which is a French name, not English which is pronounced 'shon-tal'. Always hated my dance teacher calling my name with a french accent. I would have to agree with the others, the name is very popular in Australia but mostly with the spelling 'Chantell'. I have only once met 2 others spelt the same, and one of them had it as a middle name only.
