Lots of people seem to have Jane as their middle name, but not many as a first name. I have never been teased about my name, although some people do like to refer to boyfriends as Tarzan, but it's just silly and has never bothered me. This name works really well with a long or unusual surname. I think it would suit a sibset like Alice, Claudia, Rose, Amy, Charlotte, Emma, Lucy, Amelia, Caroline, etc

Well, in my final year of school in my literature class there were 13 (!!) Janes, so when the teacher asked for 'Jane' to answer the question, I kept my head down and some other Jane was bound to answer!!

With a common name like Jane for my age group, if you take on your husband's surname when you get married, you can miss out on opportunities if people read/hear about Jane so and so, and not realise it is the Jane they know.
