My origin is Slavic, or more specifically Bosnian. I was given the name Sanda, which is a religiously 'neutral' name since my parents come from two very different religions. This way, people could not tell by my first name into which religion I was born... which did create some havoc during the civil war in Bosnia in the early 90s. We have names like Aleksandra and Sandra, but Sanda is much softer to sound because of the absense of letter R. I'm a current third year medical student :)
