linda i named my daughter thalia and i love the name, people sometimes don't kno how 2 pronounce it thou, its pronunced like talia, just that its spelled in spanish so if u say it in english the h is silent. linda thalia can also be shortin to lia which i think sounds cute. and in spanish it can be shortin to thali or thaly Sarah Our daughter is called Thalia and we think it is a beautifyl name, the H is silent. She does get a few people pronounce it wrong but the positive aspects far outweigh any negatives!! If you are thinking of naming your daughter Thalia I would highly recommend it! Sarah I named my daughter Thalia and think it is one of the most beautiful names I have ever heard. It is very feminine and attractive. She gets so many compliments. We do call her thaly sometimes but I think it is a name that will be just as elegant and beautiful for her as she grows up as it is now. Wouldn't change it for the world.
As others have said people do often pronounce it wrong due to the spelling and I did think of spelling it without the h, but in the end decided it should have the correct spelling. Heather I have a Thalia and I love her name. We do pronounce the H and I prefer it that way. Many people say it slightly different with the a sound. But it is beautiful no matter how you say it!!
