I was just wondering since I am having a planned c-section this time since I ended up having a c-section for my daughter if my doctors appointments are going to be different then if I was planning on a normal vaginal delivery? Will I still be checked for any dilation or thinning of the cervix or anything or will he just assume that there isn`t a possibility of me going into labor early so he wont bother?

He should still check you. Especially since this is your 2nd child. Good luck :)

I am having a planned c section, and they still check my cervix. I guess it depends on the doctors, and if you have a past history of premature labor with previous babies or this pregnancy.

Great question. I wondered this with my second baby…after a 1st unplanned c-section. NOT ONCE was my cervix checked in my last month….I think they just schedule you a bit earlier than your due date. The only time I was given an internal exam (other than first visit) with my 2nd was when I complained about pressure & pelvic discomfort.
But, it was totally weird because every time I went in during the last month or so- I kept wondering if I was getting close because sometimes they say 2nd babys come faster. I was afraid of going into labor. And every time I came back from the doc my mom would say..”any news?” And, I would just say- I dunno I guess we’ll see if I make it to the scheduled due date? Stupid huh? Maybe your doc will be different.

I am almost 30 weeks along with my 3rd baby (3rd csection) and I have yet to be “checked” vaginally. I go in, get weighed, pee, my belly gets measured and I am given the chance to ask questions… that’s about it… oh and I still only see the doctor once per month… and I only have 10 weeks to go until the baby comes. :)

They might check you towards the very end to make sure you arent going into labor or likely going into labor before your planned c-section date.

Good question! I am also facing the chance of having a repeat c section this time. I am hoping to VBAC so I don’t know what will happen. I am in the same boat as you.
