The crown-to-rump length of your growing baby is almost 2.5 inches and she now weighs between 8 and 14 grams! In just three weeks, fetal size has more than doubled and begins to look a lot more human. Even though you will not be able to feel your baby moving at this time, you can stimulate him and he will squint, open his mouth and move his fingers or toes.

By the end of this week, your uterus is too large to remain completely in your pelvis. You might be able to feel your uterus above your pubic bone. The uterus will continue to grow throughout your pregnancy and will return to its usual size within a few weeks after delivery. Before pregnancy, the uterus is almost solid and holds less than 0.3 ounces. During pregnancy, your uterus will become a thin-walled, muscular container that will hold the fetus, amniotic fluid and placenta. Before pregnancy, the uterus weighs approximately 2.5 ounces and when your baby is born, it will weigh almost 40 ounces!

Because most of the structures are already formed at this point, few will be formed after this time. The structures will continue to grow and develop throughout the remainder of your pregnancy. The skeletal system now has centers of bone formation in most of the bones. The digestive system is capable of making contractions that push food through the bowels and is also able to absorb sugar. The pituitary gland is beginning to make hormones. You will probably be able to hear the fetal heartbeat with a doppler at this time!

This week may be the first week that you begin to feel better! Morning sickness often tends to improve or diminish at this time. You may begin to show slightly, especially if this is not your first pregnancy. You will feel more comfortable in loose clothing, such as maternity clothes. In addition to your tummy getting larger , you may notice an increase of size in your breasts, hips, legs and sides.

Your baby develops reflexes and the skin is very sensitive.
The brain is fully formed and the child can feel pain. The baby may even suck his thumb. The eyelids now cover the eyes and will remain shut until the seventh month to protect the delicate optical nerve fibers.

JH , I get that alot when I lay on my right side feels like I pulled a muscle or something then soon as i turn to my left it goes away, i meant to ask my dr about it but i totally forgot haha

shinybonnie & twinkle12-Welcome:-) Lol, I woke up with energy, but I think it was all mental. I had a whole list of things I wanted to get done today and the ambition got as far as my feet hitting the floor out of bed. I did manage to stay awake all day though, so that is a plus...shinybonnie-I've lost 3 pounds but feel and look like I have gained 20:/. They say 12 weeks is pretty much safe from m/c. All of the major organs are developed and the placenta has taken over.

I just had another weird feeling in my abs. I was folding a shirt so nothing strenuous. At first, catching me off-guard, I thought i pulled something. But then I realized I didn't have pain. There is no way gas can feel like that. But it was up kinda high. Right around belly button height. Any ideas?

I know there are several here who have had miscarriages. I have not, but I'm still very worried about it. Does anyone know if we are out of the woods now at 12 weeks?

Hi everyone! I am new. I am 12 weeks and 1 day. I recently had a m/c and a month later my husband and I conceived. we are excited baby number 2. Our first is a boy who is 2. I have been worried about this pregnancy but I have had 2 u/s. Both u/s we have seen the heart beat. We have heard the heart beat twice on the doppler. So, I would say this pregnancy is going great. Now for my m/s that has been another story. I have had tons of nausea. The past 3 days I have had non stop headaches. This morning I woke up with relief and tons of energy. I am excited to get to know everyone in the next 28 weeks.

BlessedBe, they did go over the NT results, 2 markers were negative, the fold behind the neck and the nasal bone. Doc couldn't see the third marker because my little bug flipped around into a position that wouldn't allow him to look. Blood work comes back in about 10 days. Hi Ladies, I have been watching the forums for a while, and decided to join today because 2 of you mentioned having Chinese food last night... I did too! And I very RARELY want Chinese. But yeah, last night I did. Anyhow, I just joined, I'm 12 weeks pregnant, but this site is telling me I'm 110. hehe! Lilpigz, you asked whether anyone has their energy back yet... I was a mess from week 5-10, but about a week ago I started feeling better. I feel almost 100% now, thank God! I was starting to get so depressed due to not feeling well and being tired all the time. I have 2 little boys (5 and 3) and I felt like I was neglecting them (though their dad is here to take care of them). I do feel much better now. How is everyone else doing with m/s and fatigue?

smc- I declined the amnio too. If all the blood work and u/s end up showing a high risk for something serious, then I would consider it, but otherwise I can't see putting the baby at risk for m/c, especially with my history of loss....blessedbee- I like both pages, best of both worlds in different ways:-)....Anyone elses energy come flying back to them yet? Lol, they say how energy should return and m/s leave around 12 weeks. Hopefully those of you who have had to endure the m/s will finally receive some relief soon. Im still missing my energy though, not sure where it went but it hasnt come back here,lol.

Smc, did they go over your results from NT scan? From what I understand they are pretty accurate and will give you a 1 out of ... For any problems. I get my results Tuesday from blood but my scan looked good. I'm glad you decided against it, it seems pretty risky. Ya lil.pigz and nikki, I like the FB page but I still like this too :) I hope more people come back or join

Blessedbe, the NT scan is part of the first trimester screening, so I had that done yesterday. The amnio was offered since genetic problems increase after age 35. So since I'm 37, I'm offered the screening. I really appreciate all the responses. After much thought and a boat load of research online, I think we are going to say no. Pregnancy is hard enough on me. Plus, after viewing the info on my doctor's page, we feel the risks don't out weigh the benefits for us. Lonvik, I'm a little worried the baby is a couple of days behind due to the fact that I had IUGR with DD. It's just fear of going through 4 months of bed rest again. And I certainly don't want to spend 2 months of it in the hospital again. I'll be crushed if my DD is at home with out me for days/weeks at a time. Thanks for the support, I hope to be measuring ahead next time for sure. I was put on baby aspirin to help with blood flow. I hope it helps too!

smc - the amino can be at anytime in the pregnancy and if you NT results are fine I would be care of getting it done since it can increase your chance of having a misscarriage. They use it for all kinds of test for genetic & lung maturity. It is really up to you if you want to do it.

Smc don't get an amnio, but a NT scan which is just an u/s that looks at the fold of the baby's neck and then they draw a little blood from you, you don't have much time because I think it has to be done before 13 weeks. Call about it tomorrow. I hope the offer it when you get your prenatal care. It's not intrusive and the aren't any risk like an amnio. Good luck!

Sorry SMC I don't have any experience with amnios. Glad your appt went well. I wouldn't worry about measuring a few days behind at our first appt we were 2 days behind then at our second appt I was measuring 3 days ahead. Good luck with the screening decisions!

Hi Ladies. Things went well out our 1st trimester screening today. Baby was sucking on a thumb. How cute! Measuring a couple of days behind which makes me a tad bit nervous. But, I'm praying for good blow flow to this baby to keep it out of harms way. Will be taking baby aspirin to help for the next 5 weeks. Was offered the genetic counseling and amnio since I'm over 35. Not sure what to do with decision. I have time to think about. Any one else offered the screening and thinking about it? Any one had an amino? Any thoughts to share?

Reneaj~ Congratulations! sounds like everything is going GREAT! I got a call from the clinic today saying that my 1 hour blood sugar test was 'abnormal', so I have to go back next week for a 3 hour test. I can't have anything to eat or drink before, which really sucks, because I am ALWAYS sick in the morning and need to munch on crackers to even get out of bed, usually. I wish I would have asked what they ment by 'abnormal', as in low or high? Too late now, but I'm not looking for ward to that appointment. Don't know how I'm going to make it without barfing my face off...

Hi ladies, just wanted to share some great news.. Had my nt scan today Baby looked wonderful and is measuring 12 weeks and 4 days. The tech says shes 90% sure its a BOY! I agree.. definately a little penis there lmao SOOO EXCITED! between me and my husband we have 4 girls two are his with his ex wife and two are ours together. we are so excited to be finally having a boy. His heartrate was 160 and he was doing little flips and jumps and sucking his thumb soooo cute! I will be getting progesterone shots starting at 16 weeks untill 38 weeks once a week to try and prevent preterm labor hopefully it will help. I have lost a total of 5lbs since i got pregnant which is actually good cuz im still overweight and plus ive had horrible all day sickness. Im at 201 now (im 5'6). my ideal weight is like 160 so im fine with losing weight as long as i know baby is getting everything he needs and he is. I take my prenatals all the time and drink ensure too. We are deciding between the names James Rollan (my hubbys family name, his name is Rollan James, and his fathers name is David Rollan, and his grandpas ones name is James and the other one was Rollan Franklin) or Logan James which we both really like but his whole family expects him to carry on the Rollan name which is alot of pressure and i dont want to upset anyone. Anyways im just soo happy everything is going well and pray it continues to go that way.

Added my picture of my Bean on my profile... 12 wks 4 dys. Ultrasound tech was rude and rushed through my appt. I set in the waiting room longer than my whole appt was. Don't know any details about the gender. Tech wouldn't go nowhere near that area. The US pic that is posted is the best I have.

Amy- UGH! Alot of the ladies can't get on the site anymore. Some of them are on the facebook page- IAP August 2012. Guys don't understand how their words can effect us so much. I'm sure he really would love to be there but doesn't feel like he can miss work. He sees the massive bills yet to come and can't move past that. I'm so mad! I just sent my BF a text (he's at work) saying: 'My ultrasound is next Wednesday, the 15th at 9am. Can you please come? It will be so cool! You'll love it!' He sends back: 'Amy, why am I the bad guy? You want me to provide? A yes or a no? I would love, love, love to go'. So I send back 'WHAT THE F___? I send you a happy text asking you a question and get THIS back? I feel like you just slapped me in the face. F--- you.' He sends back 'The fact that I can't go with you is upsetting me. I'm sorry, don't cry. Please lets talk later. I love you' Ladies, I know he wasn't thinking and didn't mean to hurt my feelings, but stuff like this keeps happening. He's SO concerned about money now that all he does is work and sleep, and I feel all alone. The messed up part is that I am on assistance, and he doesn't have to pay a dime for anything at this point! He wants to get married some time within the next 2 months and put me on his insurance (that way I'd be able to deliver in MN, which I like), but he's already making me feel like such a burden, I don't know if I want to. I'm so frustrated! We go to couples counseling, but this pregnancy is moving along so fast, I just don't see anything being resolved by the time these babies get here. Today started out so great, I was feeling productive and in a good mood. He just took the wind right out of my sails! I am miserable now! Any advice or words of wisdom out there?
