Your baby's crown-to-rump length is almost 2.5 inches and she now weighs between 8 and 14 grams! In just three weeks, your baby's size has more than doubled and begins to look a lot more human. Even though you won't be able to feel your baby moving at this time, you can stimulate him and he will squint, open his mouth and move his fingers or toes.
By the end of this week, your uterus is too large to remain completely in your pelvis. You might be able to feel your uterus above your pubic bone. The uterus will continue to grow throughout your pregnancy and will return to its usual size within a few weeks after delivery. Before pregnancy, the uterus is almost solid and holds less than 0.3 ounces. During pregnancy, your uterus will become a thin-walled, muscular container that will hold the fetus, amniotic fluid and placenta. Before pregnancy, the uterus weighs approximately 2.5 ounces and when your baby is born, it will weigh almost 40 ounces!
Because most of the structures are already formed at this point, few will be formed after this time. The structures will continue to grow and develop throughout the remainder of your pregnancy. Your baby's skeletal system now has centers if bone formation in most of the bones. The digestive system is capable of making contractions that push food through the bowels and it is also able to absorb sugar. The pituitary gland beginning to make hormones. You will probably be able to hear your baby's heartbeat with a Doppler at this time!
This week may be the first week that you begin to feel better! Morning sickness often tends to improve or diminish at this time. You may begin to show slightly, especially if this is not your first pregnancy. You will feel more comfortable in loose clothing, such as maternity clothes. In addition to your tummy getting larger your breasts, hips, legs and sides may be getting bigger also.
Your baby develops reflexes and the skin is very sensitive.
The brain is fully formed, and the child can feel pain. the baby may even suck his thumb. The eyelids now cover the eyes, and will remain shut until the seventh month to protect the delicate optical nerve fibers.

All Bran cereal works like a charm for constipation. I had that problem after my c-secion and the dr. ordered it! Have at least a bowl a day and more if needed. ;)
3rd - 1.9 hours ago
I'm taking iron supplements due to being anaemic and thankfully, I have not as yet had any digestive issues and no constipation.. I do make sure I eat a bowl of fruit and bran for breakfast, a handful of mixed nuts or seeds and an apple and I drink 2 litres of water throughout my entire waking day - everything is great for me and moving along nicely.. I would say if you're having issues with constipation, try naturally moving things along with diet and water intake rather than resorting to a stool softner straight off.. Plenty of roughage and water should do the trick nicely.. You can also take a spoonful of extra virgin olive oil (or add it to a salad or something) and it emulsifies the stool making it impossible to become stuck and helps it 'slide out' more easily :] Good luck whoever is constipated, I imagine it must feel pretty yucky..

cosmogirl4056 - 10.7 hours ago
ugh i have switched jobs and have no time to cook so needless to say its mostly fast food for me which i kno is TERRIBLE i work at least 6 days at a time sometimes more. but i have lost 5 pounds so far....i only eat when hungry so i think that helps and i dont have a huge appetite.
K Rae - 11.9 hours ago
Hello week 12! It feels good to be here. Anyone else having headaches. I have had this annoying pain for a couple days now. I am drinking lots of fluids and tylenol doesn't help.

Concerning weight gain, I have gained about 10 lbs so far then again, I am a big gainer during pregnancy then after nursing and exercising it comes off and with each child I have gotten smaller in the long run. I wouldn't recommend the worry at all, I mean don't eat a gal of ice cream in one sitting..lol but, just live without worry! Blessings!!
jhmom2b - 13.1 hours ago
im reading about everyones weight gain, all i have done is lost. I have lost 10 lbs but the doctor said that its normal especially with the ms i had, he said youll make up for it this trimester so idk. i hope all is well with everyone. tomorrow is the last day in week 12
mumof3soon2010 - 13.5 hours ago
So tired and its only eight at night, omg. and for some reason i cant sleep past seven am go figure..
katiedyd20102 - 15.1 hours ago
nic: well so far i think i have gained probably about 20 pounds... yup. yeah im not worried about losing it in the end either, its just, wow, if im like this and only 3 months behind me, i dont want to know what im going to end up like! im hoping (PRAYING!) that my second trimester is good to me, and the MS goes away and i become energetic like they say you do so i can go to the gym again and begin to eat more healthily...
nic4charles - 15.4 hours ago
katiedyd20102--I know EXACTLY what you mean about eating to get rid of the sickness, as well as veggies not being appetizing in any way. I have gained 17 lbs pounds so far as of last Wednesday!!! YIKES!!! But with my last pregnancy I gained 55 total, and lost it all, so I'm really not too worried, but I do need to slow it down just a bit!! After my apt. on Wed. I decided to really try not to endulge as much (at least not all of the time!), and walk a bit! Hopefully it helps in the end!
katiedyd20102 - 15.5 hours ago
nic4charles: oh thanks for the response! its comforting to know there is someone like me. the problem w. me is that i really have not been that 'hungry' per se w. the pregnancy, but i just have totally lost all restraint. additionally, im one of those ppl who needs to EAT to stave off the morning sickness, and i end up eating junk in order to do so. veggies and pretty much anything healthy has become my enemy, and i have NO desire to exercise... sooo, all that combined is NOT good for my hips!!! and yes, i too am gaining FAST!
nic4charles - 15.7 hours ago
katiedyd20102-I know what ya mean by 'let go' due to pregnancy. I definitely have. I did with my first pregnancy too, I said i wouldn't this time, but it's so hard. I'm always hungry and when i get a certain food in my head then I HAVE to eat it. And let's just say I had much better eating habits before pregnancy, but I'm trying...I'm gaining quick!!

Cameronsmom - One word...COLACE!!! It's a stool softener and it's my best friend! I have to take a prenatal with iron and with DD had to take extra iron supplements on top of that because of being anemic. The iron made me sooo constipated! Colace has been a miracle for me though. I take one each night before bed along with my prenatal. It took about 2-3 days for it to start kicking in, but when it did I felt so relieved. Now I go just about every day and it's not hard to go...feels just like it did before I got preggo. Anyway...hope this helps. BTW, you can get COLACE over the counter at any grocery store or drug store. It's not expensive either and there are generics of it that you can get for as little as $4 a bottle. My doctor recommended it to me so you know its safe for you and your bean. Good luck!
soon 2 b mom of 3 - 21.9 hours ago
CameronsMom- You could do as someone else suggested and ask for a prenatal with an extra help. I personally take a childrens vitamin. My body cannot handle the iron content in any adult vitamin, so I take my kids' gummy vits. the folic acid content and all the other stuff is the same but it has very little iron. And there are some now that have the DHA for brain developement like most prenatals do, and they taste better too!
katiedyd20102 - 22.6 hours ago
yes i have already outgrown my clothes, i broke down and bought a new bra the other day---works like a charm though!!! my stomach is fat, but, umm, i dont think its b/c of the baby! lol... ive just stopped caring about my weight really since i found out i was pregnant--its actually quite relieving. anybody else kinda just 'let go' b/c they are pregnant?
CassieLynn - 22.6 hours ago
Good Morning ladies! I am excited to be getting new carpet today! I am staying couped up in my room tho! :( I am feel a lil bit better today although I do have some cramping going on! Maybe its just my belly growing a lil bit! I hope all is well
klrouth - 22.8 hours ago
CameronsMom - During my last pregnancy I had that issue. Horrible. On Monday just call your doctor and ask her to call you in a prescription for a prenatal with a stool softener in it. Works like a charm. It is usually cheap too, no more expensive than what you would buy OTC.
j-baby2010 - 23.4 hours ago
Okay so I am sitting here at work and this professional carpet people are here steam cleaning the carpets I hope that it doesn't do anything to my lil tiny. I think about poor jon travolta's son didn't he get autism from them cleaning carpets?

Is this normal? When can you see the placenta?

Morning ladies, how are we all today?? Last day in week 12!! Woohoooo! I love the fact this pregnancy seems to be going quick. It only seemed like last week that I was 7 weeks :)
Bought the first thing for the baby two days ago, one of the neutral baby sets, its gorgeous. Although I've got my eye out for things I like this will be the only thing I get until I'm 20 weeks :)
Well enjoy your weekends and I'll see you in week 13 :D

Hey Ladies...yesterday was a ruff day for me. I was throwing up all day! Didn't keep anything down until bout 5 at night! :( Today I am not throwing up (yet) thankfully but can def. feel a cold coming on! Ugghh...I hate that I can't take anything to make me feel better! Question for you ladies tho...I have been hiccuping randomly throughout the day! And its not for long periods of time...example...I will hiccup like 3 times and then it will go away...then an hr. later it will happen again...all day long. lol anyone else having that? I think its weird and a lil funny! Hope everyone is having a good day! Super excited that my living room is being painted today and new carpet tomorrow! woo hoo

Thank god we finally got a bit of cool air in Florida I am so over summer. As for the m/s going well I started taking Ginger pills And the only way to keep myself from getting sick is to continuously stuff my face and the weight it coming on quick which is making me sad. I had such a stressful day at work yesterday I was shaking. I work in peoples mouth and my hands were trembling. I wanted to just walk out on my job but I need my insurance :(. I just really want to be able to enjoy my pregnacy since I wanted it so bad and I feel like i'm being punished. Hopefully things get better in the next few weeks.

I keep going back and forth on the tiredness thing. But, I find going to bed an hour earlier helps alot. I get up at 445 am for work and some mornings I'm really struggling to get up, and other mornings, like this morning, I was up at 3 am, ended up doing the treadmill and feel great right now, though my focus has not been on work where it is supposed to be. SSSHHH, don't tell my boss, lol.

nic4charles, I so wish I could take a vaca and relax on the beach. We went on a week long vaca in Aug to Myrtle Beach, stayed in a house right across the street from the beach, SIGH...Gonna go daydream about that now. -- OHOH, while we're back in LALA land, it was the last day of that vaca that I had a positive preg test, perfect ending to a great vaca!! (only took 15 mths to get that PPT)

Monnie, there are a few things that help me with the stress. Extra rest, eating right, talking to the other girls on this site (I feel better hearing someone else say, Thats happening to me too!) and my relaxing with my little girl (kids cause the most stress, yet are the best stress reducers, weird).

zee-zee: its funny, it took me until like my 9th or 10th week to realize that my tiredness and laziness was from being pregnant! ive been definitely not feeling 'myself' at all this entire pregnancy. i think a good way to beat the tiredness is exercise! i know, might seem counter-intuitive but walking really gives me energy. the problem is, when youre too tired to even think about it, could be hard to find the motivation. honestly, i think ive just given up, and accepted that 'it is what it is.' though i am holding out hope for what they say about 2nd trimester bringing renewed energy!!!!
