By this week, your baby's crown-to-rump length is approximately 9.2 inches. Remember, that is only from the top of his head to his bottom and does not include his leg measurements! Your baby weighs almost 2 pounds and is beginning to put on weight. Your uterus is about 2.5 inches above your bellybutton and you will continue to grow approximately 1 cm each week. If you have been eating a well-balanced diet, you probably have gained about 16-22 pounds so far. Because your baby has moved further up, you may get occasional pain underneath your ribs.
After a month of having his eyelids sealed shut, your baby begins to open his eyes again this week. Your baby's eyes are almost completely developed. Your baby's eyes are blue in the womb and may change colors later in life. This is true for all races because the pupils do not have their final color until a few months after birth. However, some babies are born with darker or lighter shades of blue. Your growing baby will continue to put on layers of fat until he is born. He is still lean at this point of the pregnancy though. By the time your baby is born, he will assume the typical newborn's plumpness. Your baby's skin will still be wrinkled and red, but the fat continues to fill the skin out.
Finger and toe nails continue to grow.
Blood vessels start to develop in the lungs to prepare the baby for life outside the uterus.
Your baby's blood circulation is completely functional. The umbilical cord system continues to grow and thicken as blood travels with considerable force through the body to nurture the baby. The placenta is now almost equal in size to the baby.
Even though it is still way too soon for your baby to be born yet, the chance of survival without severe abnormalities is now 70% provided it is born in a hospital.

For our little girls name i think we are going with Alexis ... DH is Alexander so doing Alexis gets me out of doing jr for a boy later haha..I like that we can call her Lexis, Lex, or Lexi our other daughter is MaKenna. The other names I really liked are Hannah, Olivia, Audrey
2girlsunder2 - 9.5 hours ago
i was induced with my daughter and loved it!! my dr said we can induce a week or two early this time since it went so smoothly last time! i checked in the hospital at 8pm and had her a 6am...the real labor and pain was only 3 hours!
from4to5 - 10.1 hours ago
Well just saw a program one born every minute and there was this lady giving birth with her 18 yr old in the room and her husband. How did she manage to drink coffee diet coke and water through her entire labor with gas and air as pain relief. I swear the pain is worse and u go off the drink and wanna be sick. Well my opinion.
nic4charles - 10.7 hours ago
I just got back from my apt with the high risk doc. They said everything looks absolutely perfect with my little guy. HOORAY....what a relief!! Also my placenta has moved up, so I should be able to deliver naturally. Also, the placenta is in the front of my belly, so that is why I haven't felt much movement. My little guy is 2 pounds 7 ounces and in the 80th percentile. His feet are 2 inches long. Awwww. I'm in love & can't wait to meet him!
from4to5 - 12 hours ago
when I feel I have doubt about the 5th child and if I was going to be able to cope and stuff I just take a a peek at the birth stories and look at the pic of Alayah daughter of mummy2blessings who delivered at 26 weeks and that brings the reality of wot my child must be like inside of me. A miracle given by GOD.
kmart - 12.7 hours ago
Adons-I agree wholeheartedly!! DO NOT get induced. I did with my first cause she was 4 days overdue and my labor was 28 hrs long!! My 2nd and 3rd I went naturally and waited and the 2nd was 15 hrs and the 3rd was 11, still long, but not nearly as long as the 28!
AndonsMama - 12.7 hours ago
yea ...thats true, your body just knows when to push and basically does it for you! you can't hold back you just have no choice....just go with the flow monnie!!!
AndonsMama - 12.7 hours ago
ONE WORD OF ADVICE.....Don't get induced unless absolutely necessary!!! I got induced a few days early because my dr was going out of town and I was miserable so he suggested why not put me out of my missery and have this baby before he is out of town........My body wasn't quite ready yet, and that led to over 25 hrs of labor, borderline of having a c section...complications because of stress on the baby....this time around I plan to wait it out, even if I am a week over due , that will be just fine with me, I think waiting til your body is ready is the best way to go!
kmart - 12.8 hours ago
Monnies-You ultimately find the strength from somewhere when that time comes and you really don't have much choice in the matter, when that urge to push comes on you your body is going to to just naturally do what it is meant to do and if it doesn't, well then that's what the Dr's are there for, they are the ones that have to make the hard decisions t that point. Just go with the flow, you will be fine. Trust me I am on my fourth!
AndonsMama - 12.8 hours ago
MONNIEISMOMMY- What you are feeling is so normal and fine! Believe me by the time you hit your due date you will be sooo ready to get that baby out! You have to be positive! With my first I kept telling myself I am ready for this, just get him out already so I can see this beautiful life we created :) Just imagine holding your baby....when the time comes....yes u will be in pain....and YES there are DRUGS!!! I feel we are NOT superwoman! We aren't trying to impress anyone so why not at least make it as comfortable and enjoyable as possibe!!!! and every min you are in labor is one min closer to seeing and holding your precious baby! :) STAY POSITIVE !!!! You have LOTS of time still to get your mind set in the right place....we have 2 ways to look at this...either positive ready and telling yourself Lets do this ! Lets have this baby already !!! or u can freak out so bad you put not only you but your baby under so much and way too much stress, stress is not good for the baby during delivery, and it can lead to complications so why not just think positive!!! You will do great! and believe me, you will be SOOOOOOO proud of yourself once you are holding your baby! No worries sugapies!!! EVERYTHING will be just fine :)
bunnysmummy12and3 - 12.9 hours ago
Monnieismommy2be-I was fine all the way through my last pregnancy. My waters broke n I thought ok here we go 16 hrs later I was just fed up labour was just takin forever so we went to the hospital n I bounced on a birthing ball for hours at 1.30 pm I'd had enough in asked for oxitocin to induce labour n at 1.50 pm had a complete freak and wanted to leave couldnt do it, but just having to push n at 2pm Poppy arrived weighing 9lb 2oz. So basicly weither you worry now or at the time to worry will hit at some point it's natural. Just give yourself time to enjoy. Take care xx
KWilcox - 13.1 hours ago
monnieismommy2be You WILL be just fine. Our bodies are made for this. When my contractions start to get bad but not bad enough for drugs I tell myself this too shall pass and once the baby is in my arms I will have forgotten why I thought this was so bad. I also take along lots of things to do like my MP3 player, puzzle books, reading books and this time my laptop so I can keep up with my school work and play online games.
KWilcox - 13.1 hours ago
AndonsMama I have gained 5 but lost 2 due to having Bronchitis for almost 9 weeks so far. Dr says she is not worried because my uterus size is what it should plus Abby is moving so much, and she can see where fat has fallen off my face and arms.

teebabyfik try not to worry too much. I say try because I know it's hard. You see in my 2nd pregnancy my daughter never once kicked. I felt her move, even flip but never a kick or punch. She will be 15 in July.
teebabyfik - 13.8 hours ago
i feel bubbles, flickerings, tickles, shocky feelings. are they the same as kicks?
teebabyfik - 14.6 hours ago
Hey ladies. is there anyone whose baby is yet to kick at 26th week? I'm having concerns but my midwife said that i shouldnt worry since dere's consistent movement. She said that baby is still moving around because he's still have room & will kick when there's no more space for the movement.a friend also told me that it could be that my baby is small. am worried.
mybitty7307 - 15.7 hours ago
Baby-number-2 thank you I just saw your comment and will look up cholesterol screening in pregnancy. Maybe I'll have a defense to get retested post-partum or something. :)
AndonsMama - 16.2 hours ago
Hellooooooooo week 26!!! :) fINALly getting close to the weeks 30s ! I am counting down already.....I can NOT wait til May!!! Went to dr today.... everything is pretty good, I gained 17lbs already!!! :/ How much have you all gained so far? I know it could be much worse, but it could be better too lol, I think my last pregnancy I gained total of 41 lbs.... Ohhh n FYI EVERYONE...my dr told me the baby should be moving alot right now, this is prime time to feel movements and we should be feeling the baby about 12 times a day right now! I told him that somedays I swear I don't feel him or when I do finally feel him it is at bed time, he said that its a bit unusual to not feel baby right now, they normally don;t slow down til the end when they run out of room, so if we don't feel the baby at least 12 times a day, or if its been 24 hrs and haven't felt much at all we should get in for heart beat check asap!
from4to5 - 16.7 hours ago
Has any1 elses DH declined having BD mine does he even tries to put me off in bed by constantly saying ur fat, come on how toget poor wifes self esteem down:( this whole preg I refused but now i want to n he calls me fat.UGGGGHHHH U can never win.

Hi All. Just reached 26 weeks and feeling good, if a little tired (my 20 month old has been waking at night and I am very busy at work). I don't know whether I'm having a boy or a girl (we want a surprise!) and will be very delighted with either. I think I have gained about 11lb so far but my scales aren't so good. Last pregnancy I gained just 15lb the whole time so I guess this about right for me! I'm quite small. I'm from UK but live in Ethiopia - it's 08.35 here. Hope you all have a great Tuesday!

mybitty7307--Look up cholesterol testing in pregnancy. Ob doctors do not recommend getting tested in pregnancy because being pregnant can raise your cholesterol. My doctor wouldn't check mine when I was pregnant.

Well we had bloodwork for life insurance come back and my cholesterol was nearly 300!!! My diet has been miserable since being pregnant..I've always been nauseous or hungry or both. Only in the past month or two have I been able to stomach anything healthy and I still eat junk. Depressed about that and my thirty plus weight gain and new varicose veins. Who applies for life insurance while pregnant? Wasn't thinking I guess :(
mybitty7307 - 1 days ago
Hello All- Just browsing through. Happiefeliz, I pray that everything goes smoothly, despite the diagnosis, for both you and your baby.
happiefeliz - 1 days ago
So, I just got a call from OBGYN. I've been diagnosed with having a genetic disorder called nephropathy. It's where your kidneys produce antibodies that work against your kidneys. So, it can also cause gestational diabetes, hypertension, and high protein in your urine. I have all of that and gall stones. 3 months after the baby is born, I am schedule to do a kidney biopsy and have my gall bladder removed. Mean while, my back pain is getting worse and Im being monitored daily for my glucose, blood pressure and urine protein levels because they think I will have preeclampsia. It sucks to be me right now. And since it's genetic, my baby girl could go through this later in her life. Poor baby. Ahhhh!

2girlsunder2 I'm sure if you go to a DIY store there is special paint that you can put on or spray to stop it from coming through again..its a form of sealent you can buy. It can be your inner wall cavities that are damp causing the mold to grow but if you bleach it it will still grow back..DIY store all the way!! :)
2girlsunder2 - 1 days ago
yikes ok we are going to move our matress to the living room until its taken care of! & tonight DH is going to try and bleach it out and then we will see if it grows back and if so then we will open the wall!
kmart - 1 days ago
2girls-the wall doesn't necessarily have to be wet where you can feel it, it could be wet on the inside and the mold is just growing through the sheetrock or wood, whatever it is made up of.
KWilcox - 2 days ago
Nic4Charles please don't feel bad. If these girls were old enough to pushg a stroller and ask about doing odd jobs they should've been in school. Money is tight for a lot of us.
2girlsunder2 - 2 days ago
the wall doesnt seem to be wet at all?! how could mold be growing without water??
2ndtimemom2010 - 2 days ago
I have been feeling baby a little higher up and I'm scrunched over a little now sitting in my computer chair, but the baby has been pushing against my ribs lightly but enough to be kinda uncomfortable. Didn't think she could reach there yet. On my 4th bottle of water so maybe she's floating up there from all the water. Felt dehydrated yesterday, making up for it now.
2ndtimemom2010 - 2 days ago
2girls - that is not good, very bad for your health. I had allergies ALL the time and bad when I lived w/ my parents, after I moved out, they did something in there and found that the wall I slept up against was infested with mold. Could be a water leak or something. Def bring that up to your dr next appt.
kmart - 2 days ago
OMG!!?? Do you have water leaking behind the wall, maybe?
~YummyMummy~ - 2 days ago
I'm so with you on the girls names, we had settled for a name then changed it and now I'm not too sure at all. Its so frustrating because so many women have picked a name already and I don't seem to have come across one that I've thought yea definately that one as yet!!!
2girlsunder2 - 2 days ago
oh my goodness so i am on this cleaning spree right now and i pull out our bed to wash the sheets and the wall behind our bed is infested with mold, I mean the lower half of the wall looks like a bad bag of bread all fuzzy! what in the world ?!!?
kmart - 2 days ago
2girls-I use greenworks or seventh generation cleaning products. The fumes are next to nil compared to regular cleaners. I actually really like the smell of the Grenworks products and they work pretty well. You should give it a try.
2ndtimemom2010 - 2 days ago
dree - the more energy deal is more in the 2nd tri when hormones even out and the baby hasn't put on much weight. Its like a hill, 1st tri is a climb, 2nd is the peak and its all downhill from here. Baby gets bigger, you get more miserable, less energy, more pain and just ready to get the kid out. In the next couple months you go from aww, I can't wait to see my baby to GET THIS THING OUT OF ME!! Don't be offended by that, you'll understand in the last few weeks. And not to scare you, I know this is your 1st, but fair warning! Even though stupid things made me throw up throughout whole preg, preg didn't really bother me till that last month with my DD. But, there is a reason women purposely do it again and again.
