Born & Birth stories

You are now in the third trimester, and last, of your pregnancy! Your baby's crown-to-rump length is about 9.6 inches and your baby's total length is approximately 15.3 inches! Your baby now weighs about 2 pounds 3 ounces and is going to grow rapidly during this last trimester! Your uterus is about 2.8 inches above your bellybutton.

If your baby were born now, it would have an 85% chance of surviving. Even though your baby is still not fully developed, she would be well within the limits of premature viability. You still have approximately 13 weeks left of your pregnancy, and during this time your baby must continue to grow and develop. If your baby was born at this time, she would have several complications that would require special attention. Because babies do not have adequate amounts of fat at this time, your baby would have to be kept inside of an incubator for warmth. Because the air sacs in your baby's lungs do not yet have surfactant, she would require an artificial respirator. Your baby's brain, liver and immune system still need to develop more also.

Make sure you take good care of your teeth. So-called `pregnancy gingivitis` affects most pregnant women to some degree, and generally occurs in the second trimester. If you already have gingivitis, the condition is likely to worsen during pregnancy.

Your baby can develop hiccups

Savii- do you have access to the money? Can you gain access if you dont have it? Do something for yourself and make him realize that he is going to have to put the beer on hold until he pays off the nursery- You deserve to be heard- you both do but if is taking and not giving then its time for you to find a way to take what you need! Remember you dont need to have everything- and in reality the baby doesnt need to have the change table etc-things will work out- Maybe remind him that he has a son and his son deserves to have these items- Does he have a good relationship with his parents? You could try speaking to them about it-

Ugh when I hear about everyone nesting and getting things ready I want to cry. I have nothing but 2 packs of diapers and a bassinette. No blankets, no crib, no decorations, nothing. and its like my bf doesnt even realize how much we need. We had 80 extra dollars from his tax return, and he blew it all in less than 3 days on junk food, beer, and idk what. He cant hold on to money at all. I feel like if im going to get anything done, Im going to have to do it myself. And I dont know how I can manage all this. Ive been so stressed out, and angry. And then valentines day is next week and im sure he didnt even plan anything. I feel like I desperately need a break, but I have no where to take a break to. I rely on him so much, financially, emotionally, I really need his support and he hasnt been showing me any. He pays the bills. Barely. We have nothing extra. And I try and try to talk to him and let him know how I feel and what we need and he just says he knows in a way that makes it seem like im nagging him. So I hate to bring it up. I feel so alone in this process. I dont have friends to run to to help me feel better and take my mind off things. My mom has been working nonstop, and my bfs a loser. I hate to say it cause I try to be really careful in what I say. But im starting to really hate and resent him. I hate being around him. I hate that he doesnt care that I need him more than ever right now. I hate how tied down and powerless I feel. I really try to focus on the good things and be positive. But theres nothing positive about him coming home late with beer in his hands and making me out to be some kind of monster. He was never like this before. He was always so mindful of me before, and caring. He made me feel like the luckiest, most loved girl in the world. He keeps telling me to give him another chance to get things right again. And I want so badly for things to work out, but I really dont know if I can take being heart broken again again. I want stability. Im like in tears writing this. I just dont know what do. I feel like the world is against me right now.

Lol mommalibby, I was worried about the same thing

amandaandandy - 2.2 hours ago
So how is everyone doing creating the perfect nursery? Which cribs have you purchased- Color themes etc? My crib arrives on the 23rd along with the rest of the furniture... Room is painted and fabrics are chosen.

I have two other children and didn't take the birthing class and honestly I been scared thinking about having a baby again. I still dont think that I really know how to push a baby properly out. But to be real real honest in the back of my mind (I know its TERRIBLE) I think I'm scarded to push so hard that I poop! I know I know.... really who cares, your having a baby! Whats wrong with me? Back to the classes, I'm educating myself more with pushing the baby out and the birthing process. Both births I had to get an episiotmy and 'the vaccum' thing to help pull babies out. The recovery was aweful w/ an episiotmy and I feel bad for the babies little heads for having that thing on them. I really hope to do it by myself with no help this time!!!

My mood has been so good lately.. I can admit that Im not the nicest person sometimes. But really nothing has been bothering me. I know my hubby would love for it to stay this way lol! :)

steveswife0425@yahoo.com - 3.5 hours ago
tlb- Im usually in bed by 830 .. Last night had the urge to clean until 12. Thats so nice of your hubby to be helping.. Little things like that make great bonding experiences.

Oh my goodness. I'm pretty sure she's managed to bruise my rib. She's been kicking me up there SO HARD it takes my breath away. I've been in tears two days because I'm so uncomfortable.

tlb562 blue - 6.3 hours ago
Anyone else noticing that their weight gain is slowing down??? Knock on wood....hope I'm not jinxing myself :)

wedward **PINK** - 6.9 hours ago
Some of you ladies are talking about prenatal classes. they may not mention that you need to know your mother and grandmother's birth experience. how fast did the babies come? I did not know my family had very fast labors and my son was almost born on the interstate!! just food for thought.

tasosmama - 13.6 hours ago
Glucose test tomorrow!

Savii *blue* - 18.4 hours ago

tlb562 blue - 19.5 hours ago
It happened - you def look pregnant now :) looking good!

tlb562 blue - 19.5 hours ago
Amanda - ive been going to the chiropractor for a couple of months now too and love it. I did with my last pregnancy too & it helped so much.

steveswife0425@yahoo.com - 21.2 hours ago
Oh my goodness.. Nesting around the clock. Been cleaning the house for the last week... And still feel like there is soo much more to do.. 13 weeks doesnt feel like enough time

amandaandandy - 22.3 hours ago
Another thing that increases your chances for an easier delivery is prenatal chiropractic sessions because it puts your hips and pelvis in proper alignment for the delivery- I have started going twice per week.

amandaandandy - 22.4 hours ago
I am taking birthing classes- I want a natural birth and although there is always the risk of an emergency situation I want to have all the tools possible- Breast feeding alone is a huge thing they cover and the fact that skin to skin contact is soo important so if you can lower the chances of a c section and find ways to make the birth process easier then why not- I want my baby on my body immediately- i want to walk through my birth and I want to find a position which isnt on my back (the hardest way to deliver because your body is shaped like a j and it takes more effort in that position. All of this is stuff we will cover through the classes- I also found that for my partner he deserves the education so he knows what to expect- if he is prepared he can enjoy the process a lot more! I am okay with spending money to have more tools in my pocket- Every birth is different and I'm sure for my next birth I will take the classes again-

ItHappened **Blue** - 1 days ago
so...I grew over night...and I'm going to post most pics on my profile, the belly page and ultrasound page :)

tlb562 blue - 1 days ago
I didnt take the classes or come up with a birth plan with my daughter....decided to just go with the flow and I ended up having an emergency csection and was glad I didn't waste time....you just never know :)

juliasmommy*blue* - 1 days ago
I haven't got linea nigra yet but I did with my daughter, I just don't remember when it came. Probably it'll happen sooner or later! I thought with my daughter I had an ugly pregnant belly. I carry low (which I think looks a little weird), I had the linea nigra, my belly button sticks out, I had a little peach fuzz!! No peach fuzz this time and no linea nigra! A little cuter :)

steveswife0425@yahoo.com - 1 days ago
k.. soo if yall remember i asked if anyone still didnt have a linea nigrea.. Well got out of the shower.. and i have the lightest line that doesnt even make it to my belly button yet.. So sad to say but was pretty excited.

steveswife0425@yahoo.com - 1 days ago
Savi and Juliasmommy- Im right there with you guys. Only have a couple of family members...And to be honest stopped really hanging out with friends. I didnt even think about having a baby shower since this is my 2nd and a boy again.. Mybe just have a small family dinner just to celebrate our new family member

arodger2 - 1 days ago
Hey WOW! It looks like we're all back. So lately I'm so irritated with minor aches and pains that I'm dreaming about asking folks for a Tylenol. As far as classes, I didn't take any with my 1st, got an epidural and had a good experience anyway. I don't think I'll take one now, 'cause I can't justify spending the money on it. I mean we have to spend so much money on stuff right now anyway right?

Savii *blue* - 1 days ago
I cant take the birthing classes. Its my first, but I figure I can do my own research on it and just wing it. Babys going to come out regardless if I pay 100 something on a class or not.

bbynumber1 - 1 days ago
My 3d/4d ultrasound is scheduled for friday!! im way to excited i get to see my babygirl! ill be posting pics on here when i get them that day!! hopeeveryone is doing great!

juliasmommy*blue* - 1 days ago
Savii - I know how you feel! I only have my mom and sis in law. I don't have any really close friends. A few friends but I don't think they are planning any kind of shower for me. I could try to put something together myself or I might just feel sorry for myself and not do anything at all :( It's my second - so I thought initially I wouldn't have one at all but is a different gender now and I could use a few things, and want to celebrate the little guy too :) I hope it all comes together for you! Stay positive, there will be a few important people to you who will come!

expectingmyfirst1*PINK* - 1 days ago
I meant we took a home school class

expectingmyfirst1*PINK* - 1 days ago
I'm on the fence about classes too. We need a 'home school' natural birthing class, but I've sat thru so many friend's labors and read every book ever written. Not to mention I'm an emt and Seth's the equivalent of a nurse in the army so we both know everything that could possibly happen in medical lingo lol. I am going to the complimentary hospital tour and sitting in on some La Leche League meetings pre baby to get prepared. I just can't justify $140 for a class telling me everything I know. Plus we're both uncomfortable 'acting out' techniques in a classroom. My sister is a trained doula and Will hopefully be here when she's born.

juliasmommy*blue* - 1 days ago
I didn't take any birthing classes with my daughter and I had a great experience with her birth. The nurses were very helpful for any advice. And the hospital I deliver at has a great lactation consultant. They will visit you in the hospital to get you started on positioning and answer any questions you have. Some people feel more comfortable taking classes, but you'll be fine if you don't! *Unless you plan to deliver naturally - then you may want to go and learn breathing and positioning techniques. I got the epi and it was no big deal!

I don't see myself on the members list what the?? anyone else having that problem?

Savii *blue* - 2 days ago
Im getting so nervous about my baby shower. Idk if I even want one. I dont have a set date, any family except my mom and maybe my grandma, or any real friends. I have no one that I really hang out with and talk to alot. And im terrified that im going to set everything up and get myself excited, and no one is going to show up. I wouldnt even know how to handle it. I really need things, cause we dont have money, but im really scared of planning this party.

A2D - 2 days ago
Insomnia's back because I'm in panic mode (yes I'm a control freak!). Will relax once I've packed my hospital bag this weekend. Off to buy some bits tomorrow... (Yawn)

T-mobile (Pink) - 2 days ago
Excited I am getting a prenatal massage tomorrow and a facial. I have been so tired and sore and yet cant sleep but hopefully it will help.

T-mobile (Pink) - 2 days ago
ItHappened- I got alot out of birthing classes. I would take them if I was you.I had 2 kids before and I still took them. However my kids are older so it was a refresher and I feel much better about labor.

amandaandandy - 2 days ago
I am taking the classes- the more information the better and you get help with breast feeding- Having a doula gives you a 25% faster birth just based on their coachin abilities- I would say it would be good to have your coaching partner learn how to properly assist you!

ItHappened **Blue** - 2 days ago
how important are the childbirthing classes? is it worth taking by myself? my sister will be with me when i deliver but she works two jobs and wont be able to go to the classes. and she's been through childbirth before..

Savii *blue* - 2 days ago
Ithappened- im getting really irritated all the time too. I cant sleep usually till after 3 cause I cant get comfortable, and up either taking a hot shower to soothe my back and legs, or up to pee. Then my little kitty alarm clock thinks its fun to sit by the bed and meow and meow and meow at 7 in the morning. Ive been so sore from running around everywhere and taking the bus. I dont want to deal with anything or anyone.

Savii *blue* - 2 days ago
I had such a weird dream last night. I was at the doctors office with a girl who was also 27 weeks. And the doctor was saying something that he needed to take it out of her. And I put my hand on her belly and felt her baby move and got so sad, because it wasnt ready yet. Then the skin on her belly was really loose and see-through and I was able to pick up her baby and hold it in my hands and look at it through her skin. Its eyes were open and chapped? Lol idk, but it was looking back at me.it was so weird

Savii *blue* - 2 days ago
Bby#1- dont worry, you wont be the only one. I cant get them either unless my doctor does it and I doubt he will. I got one at my first ultrasound ever, at 12 weeks, and only cause the place I went to gave me a free ultrasound thing. I was so shocked to see a little baby was actually in there.

bbynumber1 - 2 days ago
yeah i never thought about that! thank you. they only thing i need is a crib and a carseat and little nick nacks and diapers. not too much else to ask for. but thanks for the advice!

expectingmyfirst1*PINK* - 2 days ago
Bbynumber1- anywhere you go for a 4d is gonna be over $100 since it's a fun optional package. We'd booked ours a long time ago but I thought I was gonna have to cancel because I really need to pay on my er bill and get our saint Bernard puppy neutered (I'm one of those that talks myself out of buying anything because there's always something we need more) and my dad just offered to pay for it as a baby shower gift. Maybe that'd be an option for you?

bbynumber1 - 2 days ago
does anyone know where you can get a 3d or 4d ultrasound. im from indiana. i feel like everyone is getting them! ilooked at some places and at a 4d one they only came in packagesof like 100$ or more. i dont want all that i just want a few pics. my dr doesnt do them apparently they never offered. i feel like everyone is getting them. i want some :( would they do it without a package? how much do they ussually run? i just want a few pictures

tlb562 blue - 2 days ago
I'm with you savi! My pre preg jeans and pants are all size 26 or 2&4s and there is no way in the world my fat ass is fitting in them....I don't think I could get them over my knees! ;)

blue-stork(blue) - 2 days ago
Omg a2d that woulda scared the crap out of me too! It's one of those huge panic modes to a quick wash of releif! Lol!!! My mom came in my room at 5am to check on me she said she swears I was screaming her name! Lol I was dead asleep!
