Born & Birth stories

Your baby's crown-to-rump length is approximately 10 inches and the total length of your growing baby is around 15.75 inches. Your baby weighs about 2.4 pounds at this point. Your uterus is a little more than 3 inches above your bellybutton. Your weight gain at this time should be between 17 and 24 pounds.

Blood vessel in the umbilical cord. For several months, the umbilical cord has been the baby's lifeline to the mother. Nourishment is transferred from the mother's blood, through the placenta, and into the umbilical cord to the baby. If the mother ingests any toxic substances, such as drugs or alcohol, the baby receives these as well!

You will probably begin visiting your caregiver once every two weeks. Week 28 is an important week for testing. You will probably be having your glucose tolerance test, an iron level test and if you are Rh negative, you should have an antibody test. The antibody test will determine if you and your baby will have any reactions to each other's blood differences. The glucose test will check for gestational diabetes.

Your baby's brain continues to develop and is now forming the folds and grooves of a fully developed brain. The amount of tissues within the brain also continues to increase in large amounts. The hair that covers your baby's scalp is also getting longer. Your baby is now large enough for presentation to be determined and your doctor might be able to find out if your baby is at risk for being breech. If your baby is breech, don't panic. There is still time for the baby to rotate.

I graduated from cosmetology school today. One less stress for me. Now I can focus on work and the baby!! I've been feeling really good lately too!! Still having lots of the PSD pain and am still waiting to hear back about the maternity belt but other than that, I'm feeling great!! Perfect timing to be done with school and feeling good too! I work at my mom's flower shop and now I'll be able to work everyday for the big holiday!!

ihavethecutestbabyever - 7.4 hours ago
i forgot to tell you guys earlier. my husband said the nicest thing to me today...i don't wear anything to bed b/c it gets too hot, and when we were waking up this morning, i was all stretched out on the bed and he told me that i looked like a painting. i've been feeling really special all day!

amber242 - 7.4 hours ago
Anybody else feel like all they do is eat? I swear that's all I've done today. I hope it's not half boredom b/c I'm home alone for 9 hours a day with nothing to do while hubby is at work. Then again I'm eating b/c my stomach feels empty. Oh joy I don't wanna see the scale @ the Dr next week

metzbaby - 8 hours ago
Am I the only one here who doesn't have a partner??? =(

ihavethecutestbabyever - 9.2 hours ago
hi ladies! ive been reading all your posts and i have a few comments... mrs williams: i have a moses basket that i got for my son and used it in place of a bassinet. we got a stand for it. in fact, it is what he slept in for the first 2 months, by the side of our bed. we would drag it all around the house. but then he got too big for it. etrocks, when i was preg w/ my son, my hubby didnt want any sex...it was kind of depressing. i felt like such a cow. but this time around, he is much different about it. i think he knows that it won't cause any harm now, and it makes me feel better. about the mucus plug...i never noticed losing mine when i was preg w/ my son. but this preg, i've been noticing some snotty-like discharge (sorry if it is tmi) almost every time i pee. i thought it was just extra nastiness from being pregnant...but now that you guys mention it, i wonder if this could be mucus plug? i must be regenerating it, bc it is always there...and no, it is not some kind of infection. i wonder if i should be worried. i just thought it was another icky side effect of pregnancy. oh, and i went to the dr today. i gained 4lbs in 2 weeks. YIKES!

mrs williams - 10.8 hours ago
About the Moses basket....They seem expensive, so thats why I was asking because they aren't too much in the consignment shops. They seem great for the baby to sleeop in, but I was just worried about at night time. I also like boucers during the day, but I was coincerned about night.

ashley-blesseddaily - 11.2 hours ago
Hello ladies hope everyone is doing well today and not too stressed out! Hang in there my fellow preggers we have 12 wks or less to go! : ) We have our ultrasound in 2 days, VERY EXCITED!!!! As far as the mucus plug goes...I lost it around 34/35 weeks and was induced at 37 weeks. I noticed it when I wiped when I went to the bathroom and it was a thick snot-like discharge clot, it was yellowish with blood in it, probably about the size of a wine bottle cork. With this pregnancy I noticed I lost some of my mucus plug around 26/27 weeks and it was clear thick snot-like discharge, again I noticed it when I went to the bathroom and wiped, this time it was about the size of a dime each time. (I noticed it 3-4 times) Moses baskets are neat to have, some people prefer them b/c you can move teh baby form room to room without waking baby up, for example, when you shower. Or if you want to take baby outside to the park or something and want something for teh baby to lay in. They do make stands for them so they can be used as bassinets as well. Like Milesmommy said, I always used a bouncer chair and a bassinet or crib, but they can def be useful if you decide to get one. : ) Sex...... what is that?! lol Its been so long and far and few between I forget! My poor hubby, he seems to be even more attracted to me now, which is nice, I am flattered but do not have the energy. Don't get me wrong, the desire is there, but I get short of breath just sweeping and mopping the floor when we do have sex I always hope it will be short! lol Plus, I can not help but to think about how baby is along for the ride! : - 0

milesmommy08 - 12.2 hours ago
a moses basket is to use in place of a bassinet. I never used one I use a bouncer or swing for living or bassinet in bedroom. It seems the baby would roll around when you carry a moses basket.

LaIslaBonita - 12.3 hours ago
Going back to the sex comment/question. My husband never wants to do it. it's so sad to admit but neither do I. I just feel so ugh and I wouldn't (TMI sorry) be able to finish cause I'd be too worried at how uncomfortable and icky I feel. okay. Im. done.

supermammy123 - 14.3 hours ago
woo hoo hello week 28!!!!

mrs williams - 14.8 hours ago
I have a question girls.... what do you do with a moses basket for the baby? I understand it is something like a bassinet, or it takes the place? I am just real confused. You put it on the ground???

blessed123 - 15.5 hours ago
last day in week 28. how exciting!1

blessed123 - 15.7 hours ago
Itty-bitty~ You are 100% correct. that is why they dont change your due date. the baby will come when Your body is ready!! early or late. it is al1 an estimation!! never focus on the due date.

itty-bitty - 15.8 hours ago
with my 1st pregnancy i ended up measuring 2 weeks ahead and my daughter was 2 weeks early but i don't think that had anything to do with it. i think you could measure ahead due to the position of the baby.

itty-bitty - 15.8 hours ago
mine came out when i wiped after peeing...

haleysmommy - 16.1 hours ago
amber-Yes, I feel like 12 weeks is going to take forever! MY DH will be gone beginning the end of February (only home on weekends) all the way up until the end of April (with the exception of 2 weeks), so I'm worried about taking care of my 7 year old by myself. I'm having a really rough time now. Had to go to a chiropractor yesterday and found out that I have spasms and ligaments in my left hip are seriously inflamed. I hurt so bad when I walk. It hurts to stand, walk, sit, so giving my 7 year old a bath, cooking, doing dishes...what on earth am I gonna do!!! I'm so worried. I just want it to be time for Bradley to come out and DH to be home and me to feel better!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haleysmommy - 16.7 hours ago
Week 28 yesterday...whoo hoo!! Had my 28 week Dr. appt yesterday, and Bradley is measuring ahead by 1 week. Has anyone known anyone who has had this and had it affect when the baby comes?

1st time mommy 5.4.10 - 18.7 hours ago
hello week 28...ok I have a ? about the mucus plug....do u see it when u go to the bathroom r does it just come out....like while walking r something????

itty-bitty - 19 hours ago
with my 1st pregnancy i lost my mucous plug a week before i went into labor. it came out whole. it was so weird..it is extremely thick and it was white with a tint of pink. it was like a long plug...i would tell your doc if you think you lost it.

allyandty - 19.5 hours ago
maru i am happy all is good with baby, they are pretty well protected in us, but being pregnant can be scary, i can't wait till feb. 15th for my u/s appt.

allyandty - 19.5 hours ago
sassy i would just as a precaution call your ob, if cramping is that bad causing you to feel sick it could be anything, braxton kicks as far as i know should not cause illness

allyandty - 19.6 hours ago
your mucus plug is slimy and clumpy, with my daughter i lost it in a whole and it looked like a plug lol, but you can lose it in pieces, and it is not a sign of labor but should be mentioned to your ob b/c the plug is what keeps germs out, just say you take a bath and some water goes in a bit the plug prevents any kind of bacteria,

sassy lu - 21.5 hours ago
I have been up for almost two hours with cramp like feeling. Hurts so much its causing nausea. And hurts alot more everytime Ryland kicks. Braxton hicks ?

maruskah - 22.1 hours ago
Lisa - I don't know that one either. To be honest, I have no idea what a mucus plug is...Lol. Maybe its because I'm afrikaans

lisa-babyno1 - 23.4 hours ago
how do u know that you have lost some of your mucus plug?? is it like a discharge or something? probably a really stupid question but this is my 1st pregnancy and im totally in the dark!! lol C=

maruskah - 1 days ago
Amber - Get yourself checked out so that you can relax. I think you are exactly the same like me, stress maniacs!!!! Lol. Anyway, Hope you get relief soon and feel better! Agree with you though that the due date does feel so far away. Anyway, Have a lovely day!!!

amber242 - 1 days ago
do you guys feel like our due dates are years away still>????

amber242 - 1 days ago
good. lost more of my mucus plug tonight so I'm going to call the DR in the am & see what they say. I've been getting bh contractions everyday so it just worries me. I also think I worry too much so I hate it lol

maruskah - 1 days ago
Thanks Amber!!!!!! Appreciate it!!!!! How you doing otherwise?

amber242 - 1 days ago
maruskah- glad everything is ok!!!!!

maruskah - 1 days ago
Allyan & All who were concerned.... Everything is fine. Baby Luan even yawned yesterday with the ultrasound and his heartbeat is very stong. He is a very big baby already (almost 2kg) and the doc said I should mentally and physically start to prepare myself for a C-Section. According to the doc my baby is bigger than what he should be in 28weeks (little bit concerning, but not that concerning the doc says)...Anyway, so, I'm seeing my baby Luan on the 04th March again. Can't wait!!!! Just to have seen that yawn, heart pumping, the way he punches me (funny how I didnt feel it though but you can def see him doing it) and those lovely looking feet that kicks me. I'm still in wonderland. It was a amazing experience. All my other aches and pains are normal just need to try to stand up from lie / sit a bit more slowly. I thank God every minute that Luan is doing fine. He kicked me quite a few times this morning so far!!! Very pleased with that. He is in the position of 'standing' - head on top and feet at bottom that's why I felt movement almost in my private parts...Lol. I love him with every heartbeat!!!!! My husband once again apologised for breaking so hard and feel the utmost relief that our baby boy is ok!!!!!! Anyway, have a lovely day everyone!!!!

amber242 - 1 days ago
I'm with Emma... with my first I wanted it 24/7 this time around I just don't want it. I'm like ur hubby I know it won't hurt the baby but I still fear it will this time around. Poor hubby last time he tried to start he said I know I know maybe after you have the baby lol. I gave in that night

emma1230 - 1 days ago
etrocks.. consider yourself LUCKY! You don't have to do it!!! :) he he he.. my husband is forever wanting to do it, and it drives me CRAZY!

etrocks - 1 days ago
okay ladies I have a sex question. my hubby has an issue with having sex now that my belly is huge. he was the same way w/our first. he knows he won't hurt me or the baby but for some reason he just can't do it. have anyone else experienced this w/thier hubby/bf & what are you guys doing about it.

kbbaby3 - 1 days ago
My little guy kicks so much, but the kicks are always so low!!! I swear he kicks me in the upper pubic area, right above my c-scetion scar. This is my 3rd baby and my other 2 never kicked so much down there. Is this normal? I was suppose to have another ultrasound, but it has been canceled 3 times due all of the snow here...and more to come! Who knows when I will be seen!

allyandty - 1 days ago
maru is everything ok? i hope all is well, keep us updated

metzbaby - 1 days ago
I think somedays our babies can't get comfortable and other days they are too comfortable...and its making the mommy's crazy! Guess we have to get use to their schedule or lack of and let go of ours

amber242 - 1 days ago
my mom posted this on facebook this am: :wants to give you God's phone number. It's Jeremiah 33:3... Call on me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things you do not know.' i love it & just wanted to share it with all of you today! Even on the hard days we have a lot to be thankful for!

amber242 - 1 days ago
I ate something & drank OJ & he started to kick. Just don't like the thought of something being wrong with him, I've already lost one baby I'm overly attached to Jeremiah already! I remember this happening with Eli, the movements slowed down but it was later in the pregnancy. Then again he was a small little baby so maybe he didn't run out of room as early. Ugh the joys of motherhood lol. worry, worry, worry. Blesses, Florida Hosp. is about 45 mins from my house, too far for me seeing as I was only in labor for a short time & didn't realize it with Eli. Thats why I get so cared with these BH contractions b/c that's how my whole labor was with my first, they said ok it's time and I said time for what and they said push lol. I'm ready for this all to be over & Jeremiah to be here!

ashley-blesseddaily - 1 days ago
blessed123-great advice for Amber. Mine lil man is most active around 8pm too!

ashley-blesseddaily - 1 days ago
Hey Amber i lost part of my mucus plug last weekend and it scared me too, I think I am still losing some too, but my doctor said it is okay and not that uncommon. She said your body can rebuild it(unless it is all lost) she said it does not mean your going into labor just a sign to be cautious for preterm labor signs. As far as baby moving, Ia m right there with you, but do notice he moves after I eat most, so maybe you can grab a snack and lay back for awhile, that's what I did after lunch and he was moving around for a good 30 mins. Good luck hun

blessed123 - 1 days ago
Amber~~ DEEP BREATH.. relax.. Ok do your kick counts when he baby is most active. 4-6 movements in an hour. the baby could be turned feet in. He sleeps at regular times now you should /might feel him same time every day . Drink something real sugary and Cold and lie down see if he moves alot.. mine is most active about 8 Pm. He sleeps most of the day. every baby is different. drink more. and try to relax a bit. call your Dr if you feel the need. I know florida Hosp is good.where are you having him?? let us know.. Ill be praying for you!!

amber242 - 1 days ago
ok i know everyone is posting this but the lack of movement from Jeremiah is starting to worry me. On top of that I've lost bits of my mucus plug over the weekend. I hate being the annoying lady who calls with every concern but I am. I texted my sister and hope she calls me soon to answer some ?'s. she is working at the L & D of the hospital I will deliver at and hopefully I can bother her first

Steplaff80 - 1 days ago
Damn taxes!!!! It's nice to get the return, but a pain in the butt getting them done!!!!!

ashley-blesseddaily - 1 days ago
Taxes huh?! We are still waiting on one set of W2's for my husband, that is annoying considering e have called with our new address twice now and still nothing!

amber242 - 2 days ago
very annoying, good thing is we didn't need it right now but were going to pay off some credit cards and i was going to get some spending money. I had shopping plans lol. Oh well guess it's better to wait we will be getting $5500 right before jeremiah's arrival so hubby will take a week off work!

Steplaff80 - 2 days ago
it's really annoying! He does his own every year, and said he would do mine. I had a bad feeling, but figured he does his, so it will be fine...NOT THE CASE! :(
