Born & Birth stories

You may feel as if you have been pregnant forever at this point. It might be hard to imagine being pregnant for another ten weeks, but your baby still has a lot of growing and developing to do! By this time, your baby's crown-to-rump length is a little over 10.8 inches and the total length of your baby is about 17 inches! Your baby weighs about 3 pounds now. Your uterus can be felt about 4 inches above your bellybutton. Your uterus, baby, placenta and the amount of fluid will get larger over the next ten weeks. You should be gaining about a pound a week at this time.

Because you are getting larger, you are probably becoming slower and clumsier. You should try to be careful to avoid dangerous falls. Good posture when sitting and standing can help you feel better during your pregnancy. You also should be rolling over on your side to get up after lying down because your muscles have stretched to accommodate your growing uterus.

Even though your baby is cushioned by the amniotic fluid, she can feel and respond to pain. Your baby now does `practice breathing` to get ready for life outside of your womb. If you have an ultrasound at this time, you will be able to see this. If your baby swallows amniotic fluid down the wrong passage, she will still get hiccups that are noticeable by you. If your baby were born at this time, she would be able to keep herself warm.

The skin begins to smoothen as fat deposits accumulate underneath. The fat insulates and is an energy source.

OMG has anyone elses appetite increased lately??? all i do is feel like eating i love it !

Can u get a tattoo while ur preggo?

jamie8324 - 6.5 hours ago
Does anyone else have restless leg syndrom? It seems no matter how I lay my legs just feel all weird? Is it just me?

jensoon2bmomof3 - 6.7 hours ago
2ndtimeroundT - I sleep on my right side quite a bit..move back and forth all night long. I've done this with all 3 of my pregnancies and havent had any problems. I know they prefer you to sleep on your left side, but I don't think there is any way I could stay on my left side all night long.

fullhouse - 7.6 hours ago
anjela I was feeling a pain a couple of months ago like I had done a ton of push ups like I had a severely bad pulled muscle, if you are going through the same thing I was. My doc said it was lig pain she suggested a maternity belt. I didn't know lig pain could last that long!

aussiemamma2 - 9 hours ago
9years - having 2 showers a day now.. yeah... l remember this from last time too. lt gets worse!! At the moment l just want to be in water all day and night. Cant get enough of baths and showers... Wish it were summer here so l could use the pool. Tarryn, yeah, can you post me one?? Good to see lm not the only one baking (and going to the loo in the dark walking like a zombie!) Marks on his way home with Mc Chucks! Not even lunchtime and l am getting fish burger chips and coke. God, if you are listening .. Please help me!! My big sis and kids live in china and are coming home today for 2 weeks. So excited, though they are delayed as someone on the flight trying to board had swine flu.. She is travelling alone with 2 and 4 year oless her cotton socks! You all have a beautiful weekend. Happy 4th July you American chickas!!

angela-and-jay - 9.7 hours ago
Has anyone else had stomach pains that feel like you've done ten million sit ups? I've been in pain all evening... It hurts pretty much every time I move!! :( I think my tummy is stretching and expanding... I'll probably wake up tomorrow with a huge belly and stretch marks. :(

harimaudahan - 10.3 hours ago
Ugh I am so worn out and my house is a wreck. I want to get up and clean but cant seem to find the energy. This sucks.

frsttimemommy - 10.4 hours ago
is anyone else feeling sudden pressure down there? i can tell she has turned because i feel her kicks/moves at my pelvic area and right under my boobs.. is this the only reason for the sudden pressure?

2ndtimeroundT - 11.2 hours ago
i have always been more comfortable sleeping on my right hand side and sometimes i wake up on my back. I dont stay on my back long now becuase its so uncomfortable and heavy but i tend to have better sleeps on my right. Is it ok to sleep on that side? apprently it can be dangerous but if im so comfortable how can it be so bad?

9yrslater - 11.4 hours ago
Good glad to hear I'm not alone, thanks ladies!

harimaudahan - 12.1 hours ago
I'm right there with ya 9yrslater.

maebeth - 12.2 hours ago
9yrslater- I think it's ok, I have quite a bit too. But the green color seems a bit different. Don't know about that. Hope it goes away.

CaityM - 12.2 hours ago
9yearslater- I'm suffering with the same thing. Sometime i eeven have to wear a pantyliner it gets to be so much. My doc said its all completely mormal... even the gross color!

9yrslater - 13.7 hours ago
Has anyone notice an increase in their vaginal discharge.. Sorry for the tmi but it seems like I'm constantly wet down there all the time now and its also like a really light/pale greenish yellow sort of color..no blood no pain no sudden gush, just wondering if this is normal...I know my dr told me that during pregnancy there's an increase in vaginal discharge but these past couple of days it seems like more to the point that I always have to keep a pantiliner on

Texas gal - 14.4 hours ago
Happy 4th of July to everyone! Ladies be careful if your planning on being out in the heat. Have a great weekend.

jamie8324 - 17.2 hours ago
It seems like it has been a really long week. My oldest just started cheerleading again and has pratices 3 days a week for 2 hours at a time. Then after the holiday she will have 3 saturday carwashs.... Ughh it sounds fu to the kids but I am so pregnant it souds like hell to me. Hopefully we get some coo weather but it's not likely since we have been having 100 degree or more days. Oh well I will just have to deal with it with a smile on my face....

jensoon2bmomof3 - 18.2 hours ago
bananas help prevent leg cramps, and also when I feel one coming on, I just pull my foot upwards and they usually go away...

addysen1 - 19.8 hours ago
30wks today I can't believe it not much longer to go!!!

rose-mom - 20.2 hours ago
Has anyone else done prenatal yoga? I went for the first time last night, and now I have these terrible pains at the top of my belly. I found out after the class that the instructor was a substitute for the regular one. I am a little worried now...

rose-mom - 20.2 hours ago
harimaudahan, I am not sure what it is to eat.. I would like to know though! If it is the same cramps I get during the night I was told to point my foot up towards me and hold it for 5 seconds, the cramps go right away its amazing. And blessed beginning, don't worry! hehe, youre allowed to sit back, relax and treat yourself once in a while :)

harimaudahan - 21.3 hours ago
I also feel like I've been waddling rather than walking. I remember some ladies on here discussing leg cramps when you stretch (always in the morning for me). Could some of you remind me why that is and how I can stop it? I remember something about eating bananas, is that right?

Blessed Beginning - 1 days ago
Tarrynsplanet - Lol! Too funny, i.e walking like a duck lol, I walk like a penguin right now :-) I was really naughty people last night... I was a little bit stressed out so I had two glasses of white wine and boy did I relish the taste! So I'm gonna make up today by drinking more water than I usually do... I know, I know... very bad of me :-( Also, Tarrynsplanet, I thought Sushi was a no-no during pregnancy? or am I mistaken and been depriving myself?

Tarrynsplanet - 1 days ago
aussiemamma2 - I had sushi (home-made) tonight, yum. And regarding the walking thing. I have noticed I walk like a duck these days. Specially at night when I wake up to pee, lol.

Tarrynsplanet - 1 days ago
Hi ladies. I just baked some choc chip cookies from scratch, anyone want any? Mmmm... They are stil hot out from the oven. Is anyone feeling really excited/scared to know there is only 2 more months left for us? I feel nervous and excited all at once!

fullhouse - 1 days ago
I know 2 of my nephews were born healthy and full term and their mom had gd. I'm not too informative on the subject but I hope this helps. They were also big and by C-section but so was my niece whom was born by a different sister in law (same brother) all children are healthy!

firsttimemommy2be - 1 days ago
thanks maebeth, I have been doing so much research about GD the past couple weeks that I haven't even really got on here much. I do have a ? though, if they think the baby is that big, can you still try for a vaginal delivery? Also what is the whole stress test thing about can you explain it a little more to me? She didn't explain that at all but there again I was just so excited to hear that I get to see him once a week! Also are babies born in these situations born healthy or can this cause issues? Thanks so much for taking the time to write!

maebeth - 1 days ago
Hi ladies. A few have asked about GD or having to see the doc more often. I have diabetes (have had for 18 years) and this is my second full pregnancy with the diabetes. I get ultrasounds twice a week, nonstress tests twice a week (yes, that's where they hook you up to monitors to see heartbeat reacting and contractions), and another regular appointment once a week to discuss results and go over blood sugar records. I'm measuring around 38 weeks as well and have polyhydraminos (sp?). This is where you have too much amniotic fluid. I have another ultrasound tomorrow and may have to have an amniocentesis if the fluid hasn't come down a bit. Also, my son is measuring 4 lbs 3oz as of Tuesday (which is an estimate, if this makes anyone with big babies feel a bit better...no way to know for sure so it's a guideline) So, if anyone has any questions or needs to vent feel free to message me. I promise to listen without judging.

fullhouse - 1 days ago
oh and her weight is 2lbs 15oz! Of coarse after dinner tonight she may have put on a few more ounces (or a whole pound!) lol

fullhouse - 1 days ago
I had an ultrasound today and I have to go back for another in 2 weeks! She is measuring 30 weeks but her belly is measuring 28 weeks. My uterus is measuring 32 weeks and my amniotic fluid is a little low. Its not a major concern right now they just want to keep a watch on it. Anyone heard of this?

firsttimemommy2be - 1 days ago
Well I had my 30 week drs appt today, and he is measuring 35 weeks! Also I have to start going twice a week now and I get an ultrasound every week! Which I am so excited about that! But I also found out today that they WILL NOT let me go past 39 weeks, so he will be here in August! Doctor seems to think I will have him before that though with him being so big! Does anyone else have to go a lot like this? They said once a week I will get an ultrasound and the other visit every week they hook moniters up to my stomach and listen to him and what not, now is that a non stress test or whatever its called? I'm not sure what it is they are listening to and monitering!? But I just wanted to let everyone know what is going on! I hope everyone is doing well, and have a happy and safe 4th of July!

aussiemamma2 - 1 days ago
Hi week 30! Absolutely thrilled to be here with you all. My pelvis is misbehaving today and l am getting around like MC Hammer. l guess its another day of trying not to walk today. Had Chinese food for dinner and have really gone off it. Anyone else just want simple home cooked food? My taste buds have changed.... Looking forward to chatting to you all while l wait for my funky bunch from Wk 29 to get here!!

HawaFu - 1 days ago
1sttime - pregnancy is just filled with sooo many things that no-one ever really warns you about! Just wait until you have your LO and your milk comes in - even if you dont plan o breastfeeding - oh boy you'll be surprised! Just take each feeling as it comes and make the most of it as in 10 very short weeks this will all be over and you'll be moving onto the next exciting stage!

1stimemamaLC - 2 days ago

Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day • Pre-made salads: Steer clear of store-bought salads and side dishes that contain mayonnaise or egg-based dressings, like potato salad, some pasta salads, and coleslaw. They may have been improperly stored, and can harbor salmonella and listeria. Homemade salads with mayo and egg-based dressings are okay, as long as you know they've been properly prepared (with pasteurized or cooked eggs) and refrigerated, and haven't been left out in the sun. • Hot dogs: It's safe to enjoy a hot dog, provided it's fresh off the grill or has otherwise been cooked until steaming hot (to at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit) to kill bacteria that may be present. But because hot dogs are generally high in nitrates, as well as fat and sodium, they're best as an occasional treat. • Burgers and other grilled meat or fish: If you're offered a burger or other grilled or barbecued meat, chicken, pork, or fish, make sure it's cooked well done and not pink in any areas. E. coli and toxoplasma can lurk in undercooked meats. Note: Because of concerns about mercury in fish, the FDA recommends limiting yourself to 12 ounces (about two servings) of fish a week, and avoid some kinds of fish altogether. For more information, see our article on eating fish safely during pregnancy. • Raw sprouts: Don't garnish your burger or salad with alfalfa or other raw sprouts. They can be an E. coli hazard.

**Finallypreggers** its so good to know that other have similar situations. But she told me not to worry about it. And I am thinking to myself 'how in the heck can I not worry about it!!!!!!!!' I mean I have to think about this up until the first of next week. I hate when they tell a pregnant woman that.

lovebeingamomma - 2 days ago
I am trying to enjoy being pregnant. This is my 2nd child and with my first i couldnt wait to be free. 10 weeks left until my baby girl

harimaudahan - 2 days ago
I am not measuring big, and I didn't last pregnancy (or at least I was never told I was!) but I ended up with an 11lb 12oz baby 21' long! I also as far as I know didn't have GD, so I am worried about another big baby too..even though I don't have any signs pointing to one.

FinallyPreggers - 2 days ago
Hotmomma~ I'm also in the GD group now and measuring this week at 33'

hotmomma77 - 2 days ago
Hey ladies!!!!!!!!!! Okay so I just got back from my dr's appt and have some mixed emotions. Of course I am 30 wks pregos and my tummy measured 38cm!!!!!!!! SO my doc is a little concerned and wants to see me the first of next week for an ultrasound. Not to mention I do have G/D so I am scared that my baby may be too big. Aye Aye ye!!! just so much. Has anyone else measured too big?

Blessed Beginning - 2 days ago
I cannot say that I'm not getting tired of being pregnant but I'm also trying to enjoy the feeling of the child within me cos right now, it's our special bond without others but once my son is born, I'll have to share him with everyone :-) I guess I'm already being possessive :-) I'm clueless re what theme I'm gonna use for his room. I would like something fun but educative as well so mixture of animals and the alphabet! Yup, my little man is gonna be smart :-)

rose-mom - 2 days ago
Pirates is cute! Original :) I was thinking Zoo animals but I can't find any 'classic' styles. I am anxious for the arrival of our boy but I am not tired of being pregnant~ I love it! With the last one I actually had a slight depression for a few days after birth because I missed the feeling of being pregnant..

LilyPants - 2 days ago
I am def. in the 'tired of being pregnant' boat. I'm tired of all the aches and pains (my back hurt so bad last night, all I could do was cry!), and I'm tired of worrying - though I'm sure that will just increase when the baby gets here!

harimaudahan - 2 days ago
My boy is going to have a pirate nursery theme, I love the bedding I picked out, I just have nowhere to put it as my daughter is still using the crib (as a toddler bed) until we move in Nov :(

rose-mom - 2 days ago
mrs.leyva- I am the same... I haven't got anything ready yet! Fortunately, I have all the furniture but the nursery isn't close to being finished! In fact, it is still our computer room... I would love to get it done, it's just finding the time on the weekends, I've been stressing out about it lately. Harimaudahan, I don't have a crib set either but i have been looking, I'm just more picky on the theme than anything. Any ideas for a nursery theme for a boy ladies??
