Born & Birth stories

By this week of pregnancy your baby's crown-to-rump length reaches about 13.5 inches and the total length is approximately 20.7 inches. Your baby weighs about 6 pounds now. The top of your uterus has moved further up under your ribs and is about 5.5 inches above your bellybutton. Your uterus has grown a lot in the past few weeks as your baby has gained weight. You may have gained about 30 pounds by now and it is common for your weight to stay about the same from this point onwards.

Almost full-grown baby at about 36 weeks pregnancy Because the top of the uterus is high as it will be, breathing may be getting very uncomfortable at times. You might notice jabbing pains from your baby's kicks. However, within the next few weeks, your baby will drop into the birth canal and this will make breathing easier again. Most doctors like to see their patients weekly from now on to check for labor progression. Your prenatal classes are probably coming to an end and you should have already made a birth plan and discussed available options for pain control during pregnancy.

Your baby's face has filled out significantly and looks smooth and plump. Because your baby has powerful sucking muscles and has had layers of fat forming for quite some time now, the cheeks have filled out like a newborn's. Your baby's skull is firm, but not hard. Every baby's head has the ability to give slightly so that there is room for her to fit down the birth canal during delivery. Some babies are born with cone shaped heads from the pressure of delivery, but this will go away after delivery. The amount of amniotic fluid is at its maximum amount now and your baby may not be moving as much as she had been. As long as you still feel her movements every day, there should be no cause for concern.

The placenta is now one-sixth of the fetal weight.

made some rice krispy treats with valentine's M&M's and pink choco bottoms for my sons class tonight! SOOOOO yummy! I really can't wait to be rid of this crazy INSANE sweet tooth!!

1honeymoonbaby - 51 minutes ago
thanks everyone! I tried putting in a blog but I couldn't figure it out... sorry to hug the space on the feed, but this will be my last time PG so I wanted a nice family pic to remember it!

RBDmomma - 2.5 hours ago
Amber, Im in the middle of doing all of that lol. Got loads in the washers and been cleaning while i wait to switch them over. Bedding is next. :)

amber242 - 2.6 hours ago
My house is so clean I could serve dinner on the floor and feed good about it Haha. Everything has been dusted, washed, disinfected, put away etc. Not a dirty outfit or dish. Play room spotless and crib ready for my princess along with her swing bouncer and car seat in the car. Man I feel good. My body is sore lol. Loads of pressure so I'm hoping she moved down more! Only time will tell.

threebagsfool - 2.9 hours ago
Congratulations, babygirl! I was really surprised, too that they decided to stop the labour. My contractions started up almost right away again, but have been staying about ten minutes apart. They said they wont stop them next time, so we'll see how much longer she waits. I realised yesterday while at the hospital that I felt completely unready for her to be here! But I know that when I get to hold her I'll feel better. I am officially done with work and school mow, though, which is nice, so hopefully Anastasia will let me have one stress free day before she fets here. This is my first day off in two years!

clar-issa - 3.7 hours ago
babygirl- Awww! So tiny!! But Thanks to God, healthy and sounds very very lovable :)) Congratulations!

clar-issa - 3.7 hours ago
1honeymoon- that is a nice picture! RBDmomma- that isn't right, but sometimes people just play favorites. I know that it is hurtful. Just ignore and don't waste your time worrying. They might like that it upsets you....You are the only person that can do to others what you want done to yourself. Everybody else likewise, and whoever tries their hardest will be rewarded in the end :) ~ I have family like that but what is worse is that my parents are divorced, so its MY dad and stepmom that are hurtful. Just got to let it roll off your back sometimes and maybe they will wake up oneday.

RBDmomma - 5.1 hours ago
Congrats baby girl faith, 3bags...weird but iguess different everywhere i was in at 34 weeks and they would have let me have her. RNE very annoying one day i believe i will punch somebody for it lol. 1honeymoon..CUTE pic! I keep having pains in my breast maybe its almost my time grr but now im getting sick and coughing after a c section wont be fun so now i want her to wait!

R-N-E-Bump - 5.4 hours ago
Congrats babygirlfaith!! She must be such a peanut!! 1honeymoon - what a gorgeous picture!! If I had a cute belly like yours I wouldn't mind such a photo. But that's a no. LOL!! Crazyma - very very annoying. I just can't imagine. What makes the favoritism worse is its done right in front of you...not even kept quiet. 3bags - so your contractions didn't stop but they stopped them for you at 36 weeks? That's too bad!! They let you go at 35 weeks here in Missouri. But I have no experience with how altitude affects things. As for me, SIL and family are coming for lunch in a bit. I'm glad I'm feeling OK. I could tell at church this morning how much Hannah has dropped because i was able to sing like normal again. I haven't been able to do that in at least a couple months. Its nice to be able to breath again!! Hopefully we will have a nice relaxing afternoon and I wont feel like everyone expects a million things out of me. Sundays are usually my lazy days and I can't even make up for it tomorrow because I have 2 appointments in the same day.

amber242 - 6.4 hours ago

1honeymoonbaby - 8.3 hours ago
sorry it's so big! but this is our maternity photo, this time around... I wanted to do a pic that I could recreate with the baby in place of the belly! so we will do it again in the same position but with a newborn!!

I think I'm the only one that wants this baby to stay in!!! she is a schedualed section on the 29th... I need every one of the 16 days I have left!!

threebagsfool - 8.5 hours ago
Well after being at the hospital a few hours last night I was given a shot to stop the contractions. In Colorado I guess they like them to go to 37 weeks because of the altitude. They told me that next time they wont stop them but that I should be on bedrest for the next week or so.

AJsBlessedMommy - 14.2 hours ago
Babygirl- thats awesome. Congrats.

AJsBlessedMommy - 14.3 hours ago

Ok so little Rant, you all know hubbys family isnt great but im just so annoyed. UGH!!! His Gma came down again and once again didnt ask to see our kids but came to see his sisters kids who btw live in the same damn complex!!!! And then his mom tells him come get what your gma got the baby so he went to get it...... it was a onsie and a pair of pants from walmart that are 2.97 a piece. She bought his sister two kirkland boxes of diapers, two packs of kirkland formula (2 cans in each pack) A box of wipes from costco (1000) and towels for her house.......But my baby is worth a whole 7 dollars NICE!!!!Im just flipping tired of it. His parents and gma didnt show to the baby shower and his mom still has yet to buy anything for the baby. She was supposed to buy the carseat but as you all know we bought it. My dad didnt even hesitate to ask what we needed and bought the bed but the wrong one (so we took it back and bought things we still needed for her) lol. But his family is just annoying!! His mom even bought a travel system for his sister but cant spend 50 on a carseat gahhhhhhhh OK im done!

RBDmomma - 18.2 hours ago

LOL Im still doing laundry ugh only two dryers work in the stupid laundry room. And i bought the good laundry detergent so Im not taking them to his moms casue all ill smell is smoke. SO im stuck doing it here :/ boooo

threebagsfool - 18.3 hours ago
In the hospital right now getting checked out, contractions are five minutes apart, but still only dialated 1 cm. i will be here another couple hours and they'll see if it is actually labour, how fast it progresses, or if I should labour at home.

2ndcomobaby - 21.3 hours ago
crazymomma - I'm willing to deal with it at this point too. I'm so over the back pain, and the pelic pain. My husband has school and his final next week a couple hours away, so any time after he's done would be great. r-n-e - I had an epi last time and it was the only way I had the strength to actually push when I was fully dilated. With all the medical issues and back pain I'm going to get another one this time around. I've only personally known 1 horror story when it comes to epi's. Everyone else I know that's had one has had great experiences.

amber242 - 21.4 hours ago
I had eli epi free and JD with an epi. I had a bad reaction to the epi, bp dropped so low it was unsafe 2 shots of adrenaline and rash head to toe. That was from the test shot so I still delt labor and my left knee is still numb 21 months later. Never again

clar-issa - 21.5 hours ago
I got an epi. It was great. I was so exhausted from waking up that morning at 5am. They gave me the epi and literally, not 3 minutes after I got it, I asked 'when will this kick in' and the nurses said that I was having a contraction right then! It was so amazing. I said, okay, I am taking a nap and koncked out for an hour. I woke up and I was fully dilated and had my girl :) I will try not to have an epi this time just because I would like to try to experience it. But I am not against saying that I can't handle the pain. So, I am making sure I will be updated at when is the latest possible time I can get one.

R-N-E-Bump - 23.1 hours ago
Well I got in the bath about an hour ago and felt super relaxed and almost immediately started contracting. Now I'm out and chilling on the couch watching a movie with my family and they haven't gone away. My back is so sore!! Oh...also who here has had an epi while in labor? I've given birth naturally with all three of my others but I'm thinking I might like to experience labor without all the pains. I always shake and chatter my teeth uncontrollably right after giving birth and it so annoying because I don't feel comfortable holding my baby for several Minutes until I'm under control. Its so annoying because after all that work I'd like to be the first one!!! I'm just wondering about other people's experiences...likes and dislikes.

R-N-E-Bump - 23.3 hours ago
OK wow yeah crazyma.....I think I'm the crazy one! LOL!!! Der!!!

shay817 - 23.3 hours ago

R-N-E-Bump - 1 days ago
Crazyma - I was really starting to wonder about you!! Too bad you weren't gone because you wwere having your baby. :P I don't usually burn after sex but I feel super achy down below. It makes me not want to be on my feet at all.

Kymm333 - 1 days ago
I haven't packed yet. Area bringing your own night gown? What special things rum packing. I have a pic of my mom and me as a little girl iBook last time since she has passed.

RBDmomma - 1 days ago
2nd, Maybe. But im trying to get things going so i guess ill have to deal with it lol.

2ndcomobaby - 1 days ago
Hey crazymomma, I was looking for you just to check in, and I couldn't find you. I was going to ask the girls if they had heard from you. Glad you're back on. I've been having the same issue. For a day or two after, 'things' are uncomfortable. I'm wondering if it's our bodies telling us not to for now... I dunno =)

RBDmomma - 1 days ago
OMG this site is so off lately! HEy ladies this is Crazymomma2010 I cant log into my account havent been able to in a few days and I had tried to make 3 new accounts and finally it let me log into one. I have missed you all! R-N-E-Bump - 1 days ago
Well hubby came home for lunch and we did the deed! LOL! Now I'm sitting on my birthing ball while I pay the bills. Hopefully it will help Hannah to fall into the perfect position and get things going soon!!

AJsBlessedMommy - 1 days ago
2ndComo- my hospital lets the baby wear whatever you want them to wear. My boyfriend and I didnt put clothes on our son until the day he was being descharged though. It was easier at the time for me to change his diaper and stuff when he was just in the hospital shirt. That and I did it incase he had any issues with breastfeeding he wasnt getting the colostrum all over the clothes.

clar-issa - 1 days ago
I just uploaded the baby's room photo!! It isn't completely finished but pretty close. Tell me what you all think! And I added my 36 weeks photo (both on my page). My head is cut off but you can see my big ol' belly clearly!! :)

amber242 - 1 days ago
2ndcomo, we used our own clothes on our boyso from.the start. I gave the nurse the first outfit I wanted them to wear and they dressed them

2ndcomobaby - 1 days ago
Hey ladies =) I can't remember if the hospital lets you put an actual outfit on your little baby before they go home? I think I remember Lennon in a 'hospital shirt' until we were being discharged, and then we put him in his coming home outfit. Will they let you put gowns, or clothes on them?

AJsBlessedMommy - 1 days ago
Hello ladies. I havent been able to get on in a few days as my profile got messed up after I tried to put a picture up and change my due date. But now for some reason its almost all fine. It has all my sons info there but hes not showing up at the top of my profile under the children section. Weird. And this is after I technically had to creat a new profile... Plus my picture is there but it wont let me do anything with it. O well cant complain at least I get to comment and log on again lol. Hope all you ladies are doing well

amber242 - 1 days ago
Also been going to the rr a lot with loose bm. Ugh this sucks

R-N-E-Bump - 1 days ago
This being my forth pregnancy I can tell you each labor has progressed differently. Its so frustrating waiting and wondering and not knowing exactly what's going on. Anyhow, I blew up my exercise ball so I can bounce on it today...and I have WAY to much competition from the kids. LOL! Guess I'll be waiting until naptime for my bounce. I always use it both before and during labor. I find it feels so good on my hips and back. Bonus that its a huge amusement for the little ones!! ;)

amber242 - 1 days ago
Don't know if my body is making progress or its just late pregnancy pains. Lower back is sore, such to my stomach in the middle of the night, feel light cramps like I'm on my period and bh yesterday evening before bed. Thoughts? I didn't get this with my 2nd so its all new to me...

threebagsfool - 1 days ago
Hurray about making it to 36 weeks, just another couple hours and then Anastasia can be here whenever she's ready!

R-N-E-Bump - 1 days ago
So my kids were gracious this morning and I got to sleep in until 7:30! I'm so thankful because I was kept awake between 2 and 5 with Hannah kicking and wiggling and hiccupping. On the upside I think she moved into a better birthing position as I no longer have the sciatic nerve pain from her head pressing over to my left side. Hopefully her head is now centered so the next time I have contractions they'll actually do the trick.

carnation - 2 days ago
just wanted to stop by and say that I hope you girls are all doing good. I lost my baby at 9 weeks but I just haven't had the heart to change my page. I hope you ladies all have smooth deliveries and perfectly healthy babies. :-)

R-N-E-Bump - 2 days ago
My hospital provides regular wipes but its probably good to pack your own just in case. OK have to laugh because I no sooner sent my last post and then had 2 long braxton hicks. LOL!

clar-issa - 2 days ago
Tara- you might also want to bring diaper wipes. My hospital told me that they have hypoallergenic wipes so you have to wet in the water before you use to clean. I prefer not to get out of bed to wet a diaper wipe in the sink in the middle of changing, so I am bringing my own wipes. The little baby stand should have a drawer you can put stuff like that in. The hospital should give you diapers. Also, you won't need any diaper/barrier cream for a while, so you don't need to bring that. you won't need to stay in your hospital gown after you shower, so bring comfy clothes you plan on wearing for a day or two. You will do great!! It is such a wonderful experience :)
