This week your baby has an amazing growth spurt. At the beginning of this week, your baby is approximately 4 to 5 mm and by the end of the week it has more than doubled to 11 to 13 mm! Your baby weights approximately 0.03 ounces. Most women are ready for the world to know they are pregnant. Even though you have not changed very much yet, it will come soon! You might have gained a small amount of weight by now, but it should only be a couple of pounds at this time. It is not unusual to lose a few pounds or remain the same though. Internally, cervical mucus is thickening and will form a plug in the cervical canal. The plug seals your cervix throughout the pregnancy and it will be expelled prior to delivery when your cervix begins to dilate.
Your baby's leg and arm buds are longer now and they have divided into segments where the hands and feet will be. The hands and feet also have an area where the fingers and toes will begin to form. At this point of your pregnancy, the heart is bulging from the body and it has divided into right and left chambers. The brain's hemispheres are continuing to grow and the air passages into the lungs are visible. Your baby's eyes are beginning to get pigment. The nose is developing and the beginning of the face can be seen. The baby's abdomen is developing quickly and the appendix and pancreas are already present. Your baby's digestive tract is beginning to form and the hindgut is present. The shape of the talk can still be seen, but it will fade in 3 or 4 weeks.
Even pregnant women get sick occasionally. You should not take any medications during pregnancy unless your doctor has approved them first. If a problem does not resolve or you need medication, your caregiver can give you advice on relief options that are safe during pregnancy. Take good care of yourself by eating nutritious foods, exercising lightly, drinking extra water and getting an adequate amount of rest.
Mood swings can be a pain in pregnancy. It could be hormones, or a touch of anxiety at the idea of all the coming responsibility.
The baby's limb buds are growing quickly, and they actually look more like arms and legs, with small separations which will become toes and fingers.
Embryo's hand development in week 7
Hands are developing at an amazing speed this week! Day 48
And this is the hand only 3 days later
Embryo's foot development in week 7 & 8
Your baby's feet are developing at an amazing speed as well. (Day 51)
And this is the foot in week 8 (Day 60)

Had my first appt today--just sat with the nurse who gave me a bunch of information and used a chart to determine dd, same as what I had calculated. Very happy to find out I would have a scan at my next appt--even though thats not til March 12th, I am just happy that I get a scan before week 20 like my other pregnancies!!!

So for all of you mommies who are investigating carseats. About a year ago an idot blew through a red light and hit the side of my car head on and pushed over two lanes of traffic up onto the medium. Sophie was 6 months old and on the side hit. She was never hurt, not even bruises. We replaced the carseat with an identical one. Today my husband took Sophie with him to the store so I can get a nap. They hit a patch of ice and flipped then rolled 4-5 times and then slid upside down into a cable truck. After a day in the ER she has a couple of cuts from flying glass and a small bump on her head (which is completely fine). My husband is also fine but neither of them should have just walked away the way they did. I'm a lifelong fan of the britax roundabout and we'll be replacing it with another one.

Moving on to week 8 tomorrow. See you all there soon. As for those who have their pants unbuttoned...you're doing better than me. I've switched to maternity pants most of the time. I can't even be comfortable in regular pants with bella bands anymore. Waiting to be snowed in for the next couple days. Have a good night ladies.

I am 7 weeks pregnant today and had my U/S on Saturday and heartrate was really low 60 bpm. Going in for another U/S on Friday. Feeling great, no nausea, no MS as of the last few days. Has anyone had an initial low heartrate in this group. This is my 1st pregnancy...I'm 39. Thank you!

i am sooooo frustrated with my mother. all of our family (hubby's too) live far away so they can't see me and so i figured i'd wait till 12 weeks to tell anyone...get through to the safe zone, plus, i've been really anxious and just didn't want anyone to know till i started to feel better about all of this. my mother called last night, she wanted to book a flt on airmiles and wondering when to come. i did the courtesy of telling her and dad i'm prg so that so could book accordingly, and now wish i didn't. she said she can't keep it secret so i best tell everyone now cuz she'll let it slip. i soooo wasn't ready and now we're having to call both our families to tell even though we weren't ready cuz she can't keep it to herself. i should have let her book it for whenever cuz i am so angry with her right now! just had to get that out of my system. thanks for being an outlet.

rae rae - I'm not sure if there is a kolh's out there but I found during my 1st pregnancy some great mat pants and shirts that were really cute and VERY inexpensive.
dhames33 - 11.3 hours ago
1hawtmomma- that made me laugh trying to visualize weapons hanging around a big pregnant belly (in my head the belly is 6 mths pregnant). With my 1st pregnancy some people said some awful things because I was so big. I gained 40 lbs but I also had a 9lb baby! People just don't realize what they say sometimes! I cried a few times but my DH always made me feel better. And I lost every pound!
raerae24 - 11.5 hours ago
hey ladies i live in iowa this is my first time being preggers where is a good place to go buy good mat pants thank god im a nurse so i get to wear scrubs!!!! i just need them so im not always wearing sweat pants lol
1hawtmomma - 11.8 hours ago
hey Rubyllove, try wearing a uniform with a belt and weapons....and a bullet proof vest...im holding on to my tools untill im popping out and my belt wont close anymore...i let the cat out of the bag today and told everyone at work..one girl told me that i looked pregnant and gained weight...lol its funny cuz all i gained is like 5 lbs and most of it is in my boobs but hey some people feel compelled to say nasty stuff...anyways i dont care as long as this damned belt still closes, in my head im skinny..wouahahahaha

Well, Im a rollercoaster right now. Im nauseous, Then not.... Hot then cold.....Angry then happy.....Sleep ok then toss and turn So irritated then completely fine. These moods change throughout the day.... NOT day by day. Feel totally out of control of it. I don't want to feel like this anymore. I know its normal hormonal changes but knowing that doesn't make it better to deal with. And DH has NO CLUE what Im going through or how to deal with me. UGH..... C'mon 2nd trimester.....PLEASE.

Hello all! Had my u/s yesterday and found a heartbeat 145. Much relief!!! This pregnancy is very different than my first sucessful pregnancy. No MS, not really tired like I was with the first one & I'm not gaining weight on the scale, but can definately tell with my belly. It's strange I don't feel more pregnant. I'm not wishing for it, just saying that it's completely different.
Sweetbabyapt2 - 20.2 hours ago
dhames33 - I never had a C- section but every time I sneeze I totally get that sharp pain. I think it might be from are uterus expanding.
I've been getting really weird dreams to, all about work like there loading me down with extra work and I just want to scream at them I am Pregnant and tired I cant do this. Probably just my anxiety about not telling them yet.
little mummy - 20.5 hours ago
Hi ladies, didn't think i'd b bak here so soon. Such a suprise to fine out i was pregnant again. Quite scary too. My son hasn't even turned 11 months yet!!!

Hi all,
I'm currently at day 53 with my second child. My first is just about to be 10 months old. Argh - I feel too old for this. I am feeling tired (doesn't help that today was 37 degrees and we don't have an air conditioner).
I can't believe that I'm already not fitting into my jeans - I totally understand where you are at Momkat.
Momkat - 1 days ago
So glad to hear that I'm not alone in outgrowing my pants already. With my 1st I wore my regular jeans and pants until I was 6 months pregnant. I had to put a rubber band on the button of my jeans but still...6 months! I just hit the 7 week mark and I'm already very limited to what I can wear. LOVE my yoga pants! This pregnancy is different in that I have my m/s mostly at night too. It can hit me almost any time though. Anyone else have that?
prayinwarrior - 1 days ago
Dhames33- I had a C-Section in May of last year with my first pregnancy and I've been feeling a whole lot of strange sensations also, and like you stated I too think its just everything getting together in there. I wouldn't worry about it unless you began feeling severe pains, but to ease your mind, you should mention to your doc at next appointment.
prayinwarrior - 1 days ago
Hey Ladies, hope all is well with everyone! This is my last day in week seven, so I'm moving up to week eight. This has been an interesting week, I've been having monsterous migraines every other day. I don't recall having them so frequently with my last pregnancy. I've learned to combat them sometime if I get the tylenol down upon onset. Still no m/s, but have been feeling like I'm going to gagg at times, especially if I'm hungry. Also, been experiencing back pain across the mid-section of my back. Still really fatigue! My belly seems slightly bigger but can't really tell because I'm a plus-sized woman. I just thought I'd share with everyone what I've been feeling in this week, oh I also had spotting in this week which was pinkish-brown but this symptom has stopped. Doc says it was from the embryo implanting in my uterus, had u/s and my little bean was just fine! Well, I will see you ladies soon and I will continue to keep us all lifted up in prayer, in Jesus name.
dhames33 - 1 days ago
anyone out there that had a c-section 1st time around and now preggos? I'm having this pain when I sneeze and get a stinging pain in my lower section. I never had it after the c-section when I wasn't pregnant. It must be everything moving around inside, right?
dhames33 - 1 days ago
hey ladies - I too have been having vivid dreams. But some of my dreams are scary like I'm being attacked. I had them with my first and I use to wake up crying. I wasn't on the website this early during my last pregnancy so I had no idea that other people were having them too. Kind of makes me feel normal! You know what I mean!
moknows1 - 1 days ago
1Hawtmomma, I am so glad you described that superstition...that is exactly what I am experiencing, several nights now. I am afraid to tell my husband because I don't want him to think I am actually wishing I was with my ex. But in these dreams I am trying to get with my ex. This is so much more vivid than with my daughter, but I guess having twins may be making this symptom more intense. BTW: I seriously look about 4 months pregnant tonight and I just got two bins of maternity clothes from my cousin, so now I'll have a few more outfits to choose from. We always swap clothes for each pregnancy.

I bought mat pants the other day same as u, the small band..but I wont wear them to work yet because I find my tummy looks rounder with them and more obvious that im pg lol does that make sense? I guess stuffing myself into the regular clothes makes me think I dont look pg yet? I dunno..All I know is by the end of the day I just feel like ripping off my pants and throwing them in the air and saying YES IM FREAKIN PG ANYONE GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT!!!!!
1HawtMomma - 1 days ago
atypicalwoman - me tooooo!!! i just bought new jeans because my old ones are tight, i bought the ones with the small band though, lol i refuse to buy the larger band ones untill im at least 5 months...i also bought some bras because the girls seemed to have doubled in size overnight...
1HawtMomma - 1 days ago
lol I have been having super vivid dreams you guys its like crazy! Just an old wives tale, I am middle eastern originally and our culture is very superstitious, so apparently one of the signs that you are pregnant is dreaming about being with another man, cheating on ur husband or being in love with someone else....lol sure enough, it happened to me and naturally it was one of the signs that re-assured my suspicions of being preggo...
atypical woman - 1 days ago
went shopping today. none of my old pants fit anymore, so i bought mat pants and loose, flowy tops :(
i can't get over how big i am already, i thought i wouldn't notice a change till at least 3 mo's.
