| 22-2-2009 - Seriously!? | My mood while writing this blog:confused and a little worried |
Alright, so last week both of my daughters were diagnosed with the flu (they were two of the recipients of a bad batch of the vaccine!) So my oldest (8) was put on an inhaler for 5 days to clear up her symptoms and for the most part seems to be working really well. My baby (3) was put on 2 different meds, one of which being TamiFlu. We were told to make sure she took it with food and to watch her for stomache aches. Well, she was fine, no stomach aches or anything unusual until her 2nd night on the meds. Then she started having these CRAZY night terrors! I'm not sure if they're hallucinations or just very vivid bad dreams, but they're enough to freak me out. She's been screaming while she's sleeping and jumping up off the bed trying to get away from things that she "sees", and most of the time her eyes are open while she's doing this. Scary, right? Well I called the on-call doc today (it's Sunday) and she said that didn't sound normal and to call the pharmacist. Well I did, and you know what he had to say? He said that I need to contact my doc immediately because there have been case studies done here and Japan that link TamiFlu to pyschological disorders in kids!!!!! ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME! Isn't this something that should have come up when the meds were prescribed?! Now I have to wait til tommorrow morning before I can talk to her doc about it... in the meantime she's not taking this medicine anymore. I mean, she's fine flu wise, she hasn't been coughing or sneezing and/or getting a fever, but is it worth it? No... my girly's already crazy enough! LOL :0)
Has anyone else encountered anything like this? If so, what did you do? THANKS
