17-9-2008 - Babyshower!

My mood while writing this blog:
Anxious

Ok.

I left the planning of my babyshower up to my 18 year old sister who just started University. Mistake? LOL, sort of. I think she has got organizing the games and decorations portion of things down. As a Freshman, naturally she doesn't have that much cash--so I've done all the prep (buying) for food, prize gifts, games, renting the space---arrrggghhh. I also happen to have one of those families where the in-laws get along, but deep down really don't like each other--HAHAHA, should be interesting~ So tomorrow after my 3D Ultrasound I go and pick up the key to the space I rented. Then Friday night, we'll get most of the decorations up, bring the catered food over so the majority of things are ready to go for Saturday. I wish I was rich so I could hire one of those "party planners" to have everything ready to go..lol

Good luck to everyone else and their babyshower mayhem fun!

Oh yeah, BTW--did any of you seasoned Moms give "thank you" speeches at the end of your previous babyshowers?

We don't really have baby showers in the UK, but if I did I would thank everyone for coming and mention the help your sister gave you (I know it wasn't that much, but take it from a younger sister if you didn't she'll prob feel a little hurt) and anyone else who helped out. Good luck and hope you get most of the stuff you need. xx
Don't worry about families pretending to like each other, they'll keep up the pretence in your presance as you, your hubby and kids are the link and they'll want to keep you on side. I'm lucky my in-laws live at one end of the country and my parents the other, we're in the middle, they've only met each other once (and got on) but at a max we'll only all be together on special occasions the rest we'll see them seperately.

omg my family is the same way....its not that they dont like each other but my family and his family are COMPLETELY different so they dont get along that well...they do because they have to but i guess....well maybe deep down they dont really like each other?!?!? LOL!! and I started to leave my baby shower up to my older sister but shes so busy with everything it ended up falling in the hands of my step mom....i hope everything works out for ya! and im not planning a thank you SPEACH, ill just say thank you individually as they are leaving and then im doing thank you notes for sure...ill have someone at the shower write down who gave me what so when i send the thank you notes i can write personal messages..that always means a lot to the person...good luck with everything!!!!
