The recall affects all "My Baby" brand pacifiers, including those sold in twin packs with the UPC code of 777858800037 and silicone pacifiers with caps with the UPCcode of 777858800044. The soothers were manufactured in Thailand.
Although only the orange pacifiers tested positive for lead, the Toronto-based importer, Ontai Products Company, has voluntarily agreed to recall all of the products, Health Canada said. The pacifiers were sold from April, 2007, to October, 2008, at Everything For A Dollar Stores across the country.
Exposure to lead can cause vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions, coma or even death. Infants, young children and pregnant women are the most susceptible to lead poisoning, Health Canada said.
The agency says no illnesses has been reported as a result of the recall.
