| 15-7-2009 - Halfway Scan | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
Well, the long awaited scan has been done today. After parking some half mile away from the hospital my tummy was a rigid as a board with the walking by the time I got to the Ultrasound Department.
Not to be deterred by the Hospitals "non-sexing policy" I politely asked if the sonographer could take a photo of the "goodies" as well as the usual face profile so we can make an educated guess ourselves.
Nope, they are not even allowed to do that apparrently, due to the length of time it can take get the baby into the optimum position. In an ideal world it means they can scan more women a day for the "vital stuff". Fair comment I suppose, but the suspense is killing me!
"Willow" was not being co-operative at all today, "she" was facing my spine and the sonographer spent several minutes trying to coax "her"over so the lips could be checked for Cleft-Palate. Although I couldnt feel it, we could see "Willow" punch up with "her" arm as if to say "get off!" The reason I havent been able to feel anything so far is because the placenta is on the front wall, so at least that is one weight off my mind! Looks like its going to be a few more weeks yet before I feel it. Mind you the punch was well timed as the arm was creating a shadow across the heart. After the arm moved you could see all chambers of the heart really clearly.
Its funny how the baby copies my habits without even seeing them. Her personal unco-operative pose of choice mimics how I fidgit and sit at the PC...right leg tucked up behind the left knee. The closest I got to see to the goodies was the thigh bone but because of the angle "Willow" was laying at there was no clear line of sight for anything obvious. I am guessing another girl.....roll on 12th Aug when I am paying for it...I will not leave without an answer!
After coming back from the hospital I had a nice cheese salad sandwich and had planned a quick catnap before getting middle DD from school ready for her doctors appointment. 1.5 hours later DH woke me up with a cold drink about 10 mins before I had to leave.
Off I went to pick her up in the car and drive onto the seafront to park the car up ready to walk back to the surgery. Another half mile later we were sitting in the Doctors sweltering, and me with a rigid tummy for the second time in one day. For the second time in a week, I felt I was going to pass out. Rather awkwardly DD rushed to the receptionist to get me some water as I went through various shades of green. Thankfully I was feeling more human by the time she was actually called for her appointment 15 minutes later and was well enough to drive back home. Promptly followed by 3 hours of laying around like a dead fish!
How my work think I am going to be well enough to be walking around and door knocking on my own for 8 hours a day is beyond me. Fingers crossed the promised paperwork from home materialises quickly.
Good luck to all the ladies waiting in Scan Limbo-land, and congratulations to all the ladies joining the pink and blue teams so far!
