| 12-8-2009 - My daughters have fallen in love....with their little brother | My mood while writing this blog:excited |
Well, just goes to show what I know......the name "Willow" has now officially been shelved. I went in for my 4D scan and took my two eldest daughters with me.
10 seconds into the scan, the sonographer said drew a sharp intake of breath, "Well no doubt about it absolutely categorically 100% its a boy" before drawing our attention to the grainy image of his man bits on screen. Thankfully, she didnt scan his bits in 4D, I dont think 20 years from now he would thank me when I show his girlfriends what an adorable baby he was on DVD!
I was a bit skeptical on how good the 4D photos would be given my anterior placenta, but the sonographer was excellent. She got me to roll onto my right hand side and scanned me from the left hand side looking down into my womb that way. The photos just blew us away. Right away he looked very much like the 3 girls, top half like my husband and bottom half like me. Even they commented on the likeness, especially that he has my mouth!
He was stroking his hair with his hands, and for a baby so young, I was surprised to see he had chubby little hands! All of my girls have had a comfort thing about hair being stroked or twiddled.
As the sonographer tried to roll him over to get a sideways profile shot, he actually shot out a little fist and pulled a very disgruntled face, which then relaxed into a grin as if to say "that showed her!" so she carried on taking lots more face on shots.
Just about a minute before the scan was up, he decided to start gulping the amniotic fluid, which just looked soooo funny! It looked like how my younger two used to open their mouths before homing in on the breast.
They printed up the DVD, and then sat us down to choose two 4D pictures that were included in the price. I was shocked when I found there were 77 pictures to choose from!
We just couldnt choose, so they offered to put all the pictures on a CD - ROM and charged as a flat rate of £10 for it. Then conscious of time, we hastily agreed on two pictures to be printed knowing we could always go back to the CD and print more if we changed our minds.
With all the difficulty I had holding onto this pregnancy, I didnt dare hope that I would get to this point. As those of you following my blogs know that before I went to this scan, I was quite keen to find out whether it was a boy or girl.
I can honestly say now that finding out the gender was almost a non-event compared to actually seeing our beautiful boy. It truly was a bonding scan.
I hadnt even managed to settle up the bill, before both daughters were furiously trying to out - text each other to be the first one to tell DH the news.
When we got home, we put the DVD on for him and the little DD. Both were mesmerised by him.
Now all it leaves me to do is starting dreaming of little blue outfits.....and put up some photos on here!
