19-8-2009 - Feathering my nest full of beansMy mood while writing this blog:
full of beans

Although I am very uncomfortable and my pelvis is in pain most of the day, yesterday I felt this uncontrollable urgent to nest.

I am the first to admit I hate housework at every point in my life except when I am ready to deliver when it becomes an almost OCD like condition. This normally gives me a 48 hour heads up that labour is gonna start. When I start re-arranging the tins in the food cupboard into food categories with all the lables facing the front like a supermarket I know my time is close......attempting to mop the floor after my OCD frenzy has twice ended in my waters breaking over my beautifully clean and dry floor....promptly followed by me sobbing my heart out at the mess I have made....usually followed by DH dragging me out the kitchen and off to hospital before I attempt to try to clean it up again!

As a precaution or to avoid tempting fate (whichever!) I am not permitted to touch the food cupboards, except to get food out for cooking there and then. I can sweep the floor but not to get down on my hands and knees to scrub it (thank god for DD1 &2!) For Zach's sake I need to get myself a little further along....although the thought of all those neatly stacked cans is very compelling today!

Yesterday, I pulled out one of the wardrobes completely and re-stacked it. I was thoroughly amazed how much stuff was in there.

21 smart shirts, 37 T-shirts, 7 summer sweatshirts, 3 winter sweatshirts, 4 pairs of smart trousers, 7 pairs of chinos, 10 pairs of blue jeans, 8 pairs of black jeans, 14 pairs of shorts , 20 pairs of boxers and 30 pairs of socks.

Yes, I am confident that DH can definately manage to find something clean to wear for a good while yet.

I continued with my wardrobe which was relatively easy to do, as all my pre-pregnancy clothes have been up in the loft for months, with the exception of my work uniform shirts (even though I havent been at work since week 5 ). I have a hanging wardrobe stacker completely clear for Zach's stuff and a separate space for stacking up his size 2 and 3 re-usable nappies (DH wanted to put them in the loft, but I know if they go up there they probably wont come down cos I am too short to pull myself up into the loft!)

All his size 1 reusable nappies I have so far are stuffed and neatly folded, the spare inserts are neatly folded and stacked. Later today, I am gonna assemble my baby changing station with all my goodies (including an extra pack of newborn disposables thanks to a coupon I forgotten I had).

I got DD1 to rummage around in her wardrobe last night for some spare material she had from her textiles examination. I measured it, I definately have enough material to make a baby sling (although putting black lace round it might be a bit much!). Then, I will measure the remnants to see if I can make a Hooter Hider in the same material, with some towelling on the back and a secret pocket for breast pads.

I found a bag of knitting needles under my bed, I know I have some white wool around somewhere. I might use the biggest needles I can find and start knitting a swaddling blanket (using big needles its shouldnt take me too long.) When I take DD1 to work on Saturday, I will have a nose in the charity shops to see if I can get some blue wool, and I will then ask M-I-L to crochet a blue border around the edge (neither my mum or I can crochet).

Today, I have my toiletry bag in the washing machine, ready to be stacked with well...toiletries. I have packed Zach's nappy bag for hospital with disposables, baby wipes, vests, babygros. I am waiting for DH to come home to choose the "going home" outfit with some input from DD1, 2 & 3.

I am also going to empty the bathroom cupboard out, wash and re-stack it, with my remaining 23 packets of baby wipes on the top cupboard as they wont be needed for a while yet.

Typing isnt gonna get this nesting done......hope you are all going great guns!
