| 09-9-2009 - Feathering my Nest Part 2 | My mood while writing this blog:tired |
As you girlies know already, to add insult to injury I am now on crutches and belly brace thanks to Symphis Pubic Dysfunction or Pelvic Girdle Pain (which personally I think trivialises the agony that it causes!)
I have been fighting a strong urge to re-order the contents of all my kitchen cupboards for weeks, after sorting out all Zach's bits and pieces ready for his arrival. With crutches it has been near on impossible to do anything sensibly without looking like the actor Lee Evans in the hit film "Something about Mary".
So I potter about for a minute or two without them then sit down (or more often lay down). Talking with some other ladies on here, it doesnt just seem that its us girls who are ready to nest around this time, the DH's are getting in on the act too!
Mine is no exception, all those niggly DIY jobs are starting to get done. Knowing how strong my compulsion was to tackle the food cupboards, he took me shopping yesterday then helped unpack it. I sat on a dining chair in the kitchen organising cupboards with military precision with DH dutifully moving everything to their new locations.
My cupboards are prestine now, all the tins are separated into vegetarian (so DD2 can find stuff straightaway) and non vegetarian fare and then alphabetised. All those items buried away on the back corner cupboards that I couldn't reach without over-balancing on a dining chair, have been brought to the front of cupboards so they get used and dont go out of date in the next 3 months. I am pleased its done, but it hasnt quite satisfied my nesting instinct cos I didnt physically do it myself.
I started eyeing up the bucket and mop, but was escorted back to the living room by DH before I could get the Flash liquid from under the sink. "Zach needs at least 9 more weeks before you start mopping the floor" knowing that twice before with the girls that has been the trigger that broke the waters (all over my nice CLEAN and DRIED floor, I might add....inconsiderate children could have at least done it while the floor was still work in progress!)
Today I have started sewing a bit more on my "hooter hider" (that's US terminology for what us Brits might sedately describe as a breastfeeding apron!) and a little bit more on my baby sling. Unfortunately, its the boring tacking bit which needs to be done by hand and the Carpel Tunnel is making it slow going.
Still a bit more tomorrow, and I might get DH to get lift sewing machine out for me so I can make some quick victories and get them done.
Ho hum, the windows in the front porch are in some desperate need of attention...but I am concerned my nesting desire will get out of control, and I will have a mutiny on my hands from DH and DD1, 2 & 3!
One day at a time.....one job at a time
good luck to us all
