| 30-10-2009 - 6 days til Zach arrives by Section!!! | My mood while writing this blog:ecstatic!!!!! |
Well ladies, this is probably one of the last blogs for a while. I went for my antenatal appointment on Wednesday, due to a mix up with DH work rota he had to work instead of being off as we had originally thought.
DD1 had been dropped off at the childrens hospice for her work experience and I took DD2 and 3 with me, so they could see there little brother on the growth scan.
Unfortunately, all hell broke loose, protein in my urine, aswell as the now customary Ketones and sugar, high blood pressure even though I felt quite well, and as for the growth scan it couldnt even show his measurement in weeks and days ( except for his legs) as they were way off the chart, and the polyhydramnios was even worse than it was two weeks ago. They asked me how quick I could get DH back as they wanted to admit me straight away and get me started on steriods to mature his lungs up straight away in case they had to delivery at all costs!
All my labour bags have been safely tucked in the boot of DH's car for the last month so no last minute panics, as I never thought I would be the one to drive myself to hospital to be kept in.
DD1 didnt have her house keys on her, cos I was going to pick her up after she had finished at the hospice, so DH had to drive 2 hours back from work, pick her up and get her safely home, then get on the train with my hospital bags so he could safely retrieve my car from the car park and take DD2 and 3 home.
Because of the SPD and my limited mobility it was necessaary for me to have injections of Clexane as anticoagulant as they were worried that I would get a blood clot and it be game over before we even got started. It did help bring my blood pressure down too, which helped give everyone more time to think about best approach rather than yanking him out on the cusp of the 48 hrs needed for steriods to kick in.
Because of the Gestational Diabetes, I had to be put on a sliding scale drip as the steriods would cause the sugar levels to spiral out of control, which has meant having to be woken every hour to have blood taken and the insulin pump level adjusted....I am exhausted!
Then just when everything was settled I got a sunburn like rash all over which set everyone into a blinding panic and emergency blood work, they gave me some piriton which took it down to a pale pink all over, and blood work came back with no obvious reason.
Anyway, long story short his head is dropping into pelvis so was offered to try for induction for vaginal delivery with back up of emergency section or plan a section like a military campaign for the 5th November.
I was a bit taken aback that we were still talking about a risky vaginal birth after everything that has gone on, but apparrently it is hospital policy that every woman is given the opportunity to explore kind of birth she wants, but the Consultant said that he believes we have made the safest choice by going for the planned C section.
So, I now my bloods are more settled, I am back home for the weekend back to hospital on Wednesday for all pre op checks, stay in overnight and whip him out on Thursday.
I am on strict instructions to bed rest and definately NO car driving, as we cannot risk any labour symptoms what so ever or high blood pressure, otherwise I will have to go by ambulance for immediate C section no questions asked.
As a precaution, we have not told MIL what is happening because just the thought of her thundering in and trampelling my life underfoot is enough to get my blood boiling, and I don't want to be in hospital wondering what clothes, food or fine china has been disposed of in my absence.
So ladies, if I dont get a few minutes to sneak off for another blog....lots of love, hugs and labour/section dust for you all.
I will get DD1 to post an update for me once Zach has made his appearance
