| 10-9-2008 - MY HEART IS BROKEN... | My mood while writing this blog:DISGUSTED |
This blog is just stating my opinion. I'm not asking anyone to agree or take it as the gospel truth. It is the truth in my opinion.
I just finished watching Tyra this afternoon. I rarely watch the show, however this topic caught my eye. Skin bleaching. Lord have his mercy on these souls. Please let them find the strength in themselves to love what they see. There were various women on the panel talking about how they bleach themselves in an effort to make themselves lighter, in hopes to make life easier. My heart broke. I don't care who you are and what you look like. SOMEONE WILL ALWAYS FIND A FAULT WITH YOU. One girl was a second generation bleacher as her mother did it to her. I cannot imagine waking my kids up and giving them Rx strength bleaching cream to lighten them up. What are you teaching them? Black men already have it bad and you are starting these lil boys 8,6,4 off into life by telling them their skin is a detriment. Not I love you just the way you are no matter how you look. Not telling them to he the best lil ones they can be. Not telling them they should be good to others....
I thought of my own four children and how people have reacted to them over the years. In regards to my sons, they are closer to my complexion than their dad's. Well his mother thought it would be a good idea to bake them in the summer sun so they would resemble her side of the family more. I'm like wow this lady is crazy. We should not have to play the race game withim our own families.
The demons I have, have to fight about my daughter's hair. How its "good" hair. As far as I'm concerned, any hair that is rooted in your scalp is "good" You have to work with what you have. Wash it, keep it neat and moisturized. I don't harp on the length of my daughter's hair or the texture. DNA determined that, nothing special I did. That does not stop the questions about her background from flowing. It pisses me off when people tell me I'm lucky or she is lucky to have it. Why????? It does not make her anymore or less special than the next child. People need to teach their children inner beauty and outter beauty. TELL & SHOW YOUR KIDS HOW TO LOVE THEMSELVES No outsider should be able to take that from them.
