10-10-2009 - LOOKING FOR INFO ON SHELTERS THAT CATER TO TEEN MOTHERS

My mood while writing this blog:
ON WITS END

SO I AM LOOKING UP SHELTERS THAT CATERS TO TEEN MOTHERS FOR KENNI AND HER KIDS AND SO FAR ONE HAS CAUGHT MY ATTENTION. ITS CALLED THE HURWIT SHELTER AND HERE IS THEIR SITE: HURWIT SHELTER. I LIKE THIS ONE BECAUSE ITS SMALL SO MAYBE SHE CAN GET MORE OF THE ATTENTION SHE IS LOOKING FOR. ONLY DOWNSIDE IT IS ALL THE WAY IN MIAMI WHICH IS A 6 HR DRIVE FOR US, BUT I THINK IT JUST MAY BE WORTH IT, FOR HER TO GET AWAY FROM THAT DAMN FATHER OF HER KIDS. SHE WOULD BE ABLE TO STAY THERE UNTIL THEY ARE 4. I DO THINK IT IS A GOOD OPTION FOR HER. I WOULD LIKE TO LOOK INTO SOME CLOSER THOUGH, FOR MY BENEFITS, BUT AS FAR AS HERS SHE JUST MIGHT NEED TO BE AS FAR AS POSSIBLE TO GET AWAY FROM HIM. IF YOU GUYS COULD GIVBE ADVICE IF YOU KNOW ANY, I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

A. ANOTHER QUESTION: WOULD IT BE WRONG FOR ME TO JUST DROP HER OFF AND NOT TELL HER UNTIL WE ARE ON OUR WAY THERE? I KNOW HER AND IF I TELL HER THAT I AM CONSIDERING IT, SHE MIGHT RUN AWAY AGAIN AND I REALLY DONT WANT MY NIECE AND NEPHEW IN ANY DANGER. THIS IS REALLY TOUGH FOR ME, BUT IN THE END I KNOW IT WOULD BE BEST FOR HER.

I agree with reneeandbaby, this is not your responsibility. The big question that no one seems to be asking is, WHAT DOES YOUR SISTER WANT TO DO, regarding everything, her kids, her schooling, her shelter and her relationship with the dude. In my opinion you are putting to much on yourself. You have your own worries to deal with. Your kids, your job, your schooling and relationship. It was great that you took her in and did all that you have done for her, But she has to want to want better and go after it for herself. This is HER LIFE. If she does runaway where would she or could she go with 2 kids. Let her figure it out for herself. Sometimes in life we have to make bad choices to realize our good choices.And as far as pressing charges on the boy, that is uncall for. This is the same dude you were talking about letting stay with you for a couple of weeks to help, Its no need to mess with a person freedom just to try to prevent someone from making another bad choice. You cant make a man be a father or do right if he doesnt want to. He already had 2 kids, so we see he doing the typical young dude shit by sleeping with female and not caring or dealing with the consequences of his action (If im not mistaken you stated that your sister was pregnant before not sure if it was by him on some other dude so she is aware of what can happen) let her be in control of her own destiny. If she want better than let her strive to be better and have better. Remember this is just my opinions. Its going to be what its going to be. Let go and Let God have it.

I think that we are not seeing the big pictues. This girl is not her responiblity. This boy is a pedafile. Kandie needs to to worry about her children and only her children right now. If the girl runaway from Kandie home or the shelter this is the choice she has made for her life. She decided to be an adult when she had those babies. Kandie you know how I feel and you have to do what is best for you and your children right now. If she decided to runaway let her. God will protect her and keep the faith that he will take care of her. Sometimes we have to hit the bottom before we can raise to the top.

I agree with premiere*madame If she will run away from you why wouldnt she run away from the shelter? I would think long and hard about it. Since you dont want the dad around what about gettin a restraining order on him from your house; that way if he is so many feet around your house he can be arrested.

That is such a big choice i dont think any of us here can give you a fair opinion being that we dont know all the details. Im sure its a terrible choice for you but only you would know what would work for your family. Dont take too much in consideration what everyone here says. We dont know the whole story.

I don't know too much about those shelters but if you think she will run away from your house won't she run away from the shelter also? I don't know just a question. Have you considered sending her to stay with your aunt, the one your twins went to stay with. It would be far from her baby daddy and she'll still be with family. Just another option to consider.

That sure sounds like a good option... and perhaps having her farther away from the baby daddy will be good for her since she doesn't quite seem to grasp it all yet. Get her some time for space and to gain a mom identity maybe? Hmm if I come up with any I'll let you know- Hope that you are doing well! :0)
