| 11-1-2009 - Stressed Out. | My mood while writing this blog:stressssed. |
So... we are having some money troubles, as I am sure everyone else is. My boss cut my pay (because apparently myself and my apprentice make more money than the shop does after bills, even though I buy all my own supplies, and now only make around $10-$15 per piercing instead of $20-$30.) I looked into the labour board and he is not legally able to cut anyone's pay without demoting them, and I found out if you get paid by comission, which I am, legally you are supposed to be paid at least minimum wage by the hour as well, which isn't happening. I dont have the guts to confront him about this, not to mention I am a pushover when it comes to things like that... When I go on maternity leave I will probably call the labour board so I dont have to do this face to face with him. He's a pretty big, intimidating guy.
Along with the money problems we are also having furnace troubles. We bought this 83 year old house a little over a year ago, fixed it up and turned it into a duplex. For the first year we put out about $800/month in furnace oil in the winter because our furnace was 35 years old and the water heater was shot. This fall we got a brand new furnace put in (still waiting on the water heater) but Carl got his friend to do it. His friend works with a company that installs furnaces so he should know what he's doing, and it saved us $1000, but twice since we have had this new furnace it just stops working. I have no sweet clue what is wrong with it, and it's FREEZING outside. Carl's friend would come and fix it, and charge him each time. He's working on it right now and since 1am our kitchen has been 50 degrees. The tenants are pissed, which I completely understand, and we offered them a motel for the night but they declined. (HELL, I'll stay in the motel for the night! one with a pool maybe??) We're supposed to get a big snow storm today so hopefully he gets it fixed before it starts.
I'm pretty much depressed about being stuck in the house all winter. I dont drive but plan on getting my license soon. I have put it off forever because when I get into vehicles I get really anxious and think I'll be a horrible driver. A car is just another expense we can't really afford but we plan on moving to the city (we are in a small town right now, within walking distance to everything) and selling our house this summer. I was really excited when we bought the house, but right now I really can't wait to live in an apartment and pay rent again. Owning and tending to a house, renting to tenants and raising kids is hard work, I admit it, and I want out. Hopefully we can sell it for enough to pay off our debts and maybe put a couple thousand in the bank for when we are really ready to buy another house. We will be farther away from my parents, which will suck, because we see them once or twice a week and they help us out quite a bit. In the city though I will be able to *hopefully* start my own business, or get a job at a place where I am not in such a stressful situation.
On a better note, I am very excited to have my little boy, and for Gidjet to have a little playmate. I have started buying boy clothes, but am still stuck on a native middle name for him ( I am kind of leaning towards Mui'n pronounced Moo-in which means Bear because Gidjet points at my belly and says BABY BEAR). Everything is fine with him now after my U/S and he is measuring a little bigger than average, so maybe I will go a little early! which is fine with me :)
Sorry this is so long!
