My mood while writing this blog: worried |
Okay..so for the past two days I have this backache that comes and goes and my lower right abdomen is really tender (like it doesn't hurt really bad just enough for me to be a little uncomfortable). I was looking online to see what could cause this and something popped up saying these could be signs of pre-term labor! So naturally I'm freaking out. I realize this could be normal and I could be overreacting but I'd rather be safe than sorry considering my history of miscarriages.. I'd call my doctor but it's Sunday so I'd have to go to the hospital and I'm sure they'd think I was overreacting. Have any of you ladies dealt with this?? Should I just ignore it??

Sunday, 29 Mar At this point in your pregnancy, it is most likely stretching and growing pains. As having experienced preterm labor and having to know the dif bt labor and pains, i can say that if you have tightness all over your uterus with these pains (your uterus will feel like a rock all over when you touch it with your hand from the outside) then it is a contraction and you need to get to the hospital asap and let them do a stress test (a belt around your belly that tests for contractions and monitors the baby's heart rate) on you to decide where to go from there. Also if the pain intensifies upon standing or does not go away after laying on your side and drinking water for 10 minutes, then it is contractions (march of dimes has a video on this). I bet your little girl is just getting so big that it is straining your back and stretching you the most on the lower part of your sides where you grow the most during pregnancy. I'll say a lil prayer for you and let me know how it goes. Also, it is always a good idea with your first pregnancy to call your doc when you have severe pain in your abdomen, contraction or not so they can keep track of your symptoms. Take care! ermsmom -
Sunday, 29 Mar You might as well go to the hospital. Better safe than sorry. I hope everything is okay! amberlei25 -
Sunday, 29 Mar I have no idea regarding advice, but my thoughts are with you. mel11 -
Sunday, 29 Mar I lost a pregnancy at 20 weeks and my main symptom was a lower backache that would come and go in a rhythmical pattern. Go to labor and delivery and get checked out. It's better to be safe than sorry. Diegirl -
Sunday, 29 Mar It wouldn't hurt to go to the hospital and get checked out. As was previously said, "It's better to err on the side of caution." Good luck!
