My mood while writing this blog: sick/annoyed |
This past Friday I started getting a stuffy nose and yesterday it turned into a stuffy nose/sneezing/coughing/ and sore throat.. I had an appt for the 4d ultrasound today and told them about how I've been sick and they checked me and said it's not strep and it's prob just a cold and I should take Claritin unless I don't feel better by Monday. Then, if I haven't gotten any better they'd prescribe some antibiotics. I hate being sick!! Especially having a cold when it's super hot outside. Also, my mom mentioned last week at the 4d that my baby looked like me and my little sister when we were babies. Well, my MIL thinks she looks like my husband (which I'm totally fine with) but they've made it into some kind of competition. My family has said that she will favor the both of us but I'm constantly hearing from his family how she looks/will look just like him. You know, I want her to look like him and me but with them saying that over and over and over....it starts to PISS ME OFF!!!! I'm at the point where I wish everybody would shut up. They've made the whole 4d experience far less enjoyable for me. I want her to look like my husband too but the more they say it the more it sounds like they would rather she didn't look like me. It's extremely annoying and I hope they all will shut up about it soon. Maybe it's just because I'm sick and don't feel good but it's bothering me even more this week. What really makes me mad is that you CAN'T TELL WHO SHE WILL LOOK LIKE YET!!!!!! I mean, my gosh, she doesn't even look like the same baby as she did last week. She's gonna do a lot of changing before she's born. So, the more I hear that from them the more it seems hateful. I'm just ready to feel better and for July to hurry up and get here!!

Thursday, 30 Apr you poor thing! i did read somewhere that babies are supposed to resemble their fathers for the first couple of weeks because it eases the bonding experience with the father... my daughter came out and looked like a clone of what i had looked like when i was born so who knows. just try not to let it get to you because if you let it get to you youll neverget out of that mentality and when it does bother you tell them that it will change alot because at 5 or 6 weeks the baby didn't even look like a baby but more like a lima bean and now the baby is starting to look like a human you know lol janice -
Thursday, 30 Apr Girls typically look like their dads (my daughter certainly does), but I totally understand your frustration with each families' "healthy competition". I agree with the one post...have your husband talk to his mom about toning it down, and you can do the same with your mom. I know that they are just excited to have you guys' first baby on the way, and all. Otherwise, just try to ignore it, and when they make comments about who your daughter looks like, maybe just say something generic like "she will look like a beautiful culmination of the both of us" or "we'll shall see who she looks like" good luck. And I hear ya on the colds...my toddler totes home a cold a week from daycare, and I inevitably am getting every single one. Here in Northen, VA the trees are budding and pollen is insane, so on top of the cold, I have hay fever. I can't wait for the weekend so that I can just sleep! Anyway, feel better soon! soon2bemamaof4 -
Thursday, 30 Apr Just grin and don't say anything when they make comments like that. Really, try not to let it bother you. I'm sure they don't know it's upsetting you. She will be beautiful and perfect in all of your eyes. She might favor one of you more, but it really won't matter. Hope you feel better. xx babyenchilada -
Wednesday, 29 Apr My in-laws did the same thing! And kept it up after our baby was born... Actually my husband is watching me write this right now and is laughing because we went through the same thing! He says you need to tell your husband to talk to his mama bc "mama's boys know the way to get through to their mama's heart". So there you go... Josh Hannah-ololgy 101 straight from the horse's mouth. LOL drod -
Wednesday, 29 Apr They are just looking for something to hold on to. Don't mind them especially since you are such a beauty. It seems as if she has got your chin.
