| 06-8-2008 - Class Reunion |  My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
On Friday night, Russell and I attended his 20 year class reunion. I fretted and fussed over my dress and how I would look for the months before. You know what, I ended up with a $10 beach coverup from Old Navy instead of the $250 Pea in the Pod deal, and it didn't matter at all! Silly vanity! 9 months pregnant looks 9 months pregnant no matter how you dress it up.
The reunion was interesting to say the least. I enjoyed meeting Russell's friends, one of whom is the head of Pediatrics at a big hospital. He had wonderful insights and advice for us (and the most genuinely lovely smile). I had last seen these friends at our wedding, which was a whirlwind of happiness but not the best place to talk to everyone.
Since the school was an affluent Christian high school, the attendees tended to be a lot more conservative than we are. I had to remind myself to behave on many occasions. I got points and stares while getting Russell beers, and I was so tempted to drink one just to spite people. I can be such a brat! One lady even came and talked to me about a woman that she once saw in a bar drinking AN ENTIRE BEER! When I asked what the big deal was, she looked very concerned at me. It wasn't until relaying this story to my friend that I realized that she was probably telling me that she had noticed all of the beers I had been carrying and just wanted to let me know. Ha!

I wish you would have taken a sip of the beer and tell the lady who came and showed her 'concern' that she should join you and talk it over another beer!! LOL.
