| 29-9-2009 - Swine Flu -- No Escape |
My mood while writing this blog: ... |
Currently, at work, almost every single person coming into the place has swine flu. Fever (>101 F), malaise, stomachache. I get moms crying at me when I diagnose them with swine flu. They think their kid is going to die.
And here I am, 31 weeks pregnant, consoling a crying mother who has a 9 year old daughter, no pre-existing conditions, is eating and drinking, talking and walking.
I dunno. Sometimes I guess I get jaded. I tell them to go home, let the poor child rest, drink lots of fluids and take anti-pyretics so their head doesn't hurt when the fever hits > 103 F.
If I thought their kid was gonna die, would I be standing there, (granted with a mask on, because it's hard to keep a 3-year-old from coughing in your face when you look in his mouth. In fact, sometimes they ONLY cough when you look in their mouths. . .) 31 weeks pregnant exposing myself to swine flu > 20 times a day?
> 20 times a day, I've been spraying everything down with Lysol, till my office smells like it's been fumigated. Surely Lysol could have come up with a better fragrance for their products.
I'll be happy when this season is over.
The National Health Service in the UK has put out a lovely website about Swine Flu:
