My mood while writing this blog: ... |
When I joined this pregnancy forum about 8 months ago, I was reading other women's comments about how annoying it is when people tell you things about your bump. I thought to myself, "So sensitive! Sheesh!!!!" Heh, well, I totally see where they're coming from now.
Let's list all the things that have come to pass, that I didn't believe 8 months ago:
1. Yes, strangers have touched my belly.
2. Yes, it annoys me! Especially if they're standing in the ER waiting room, because they have a high fever, and likely have the swine flu.
3. Yes, strangers have repeatedly asked me if I'm having twins.
4. Yes, I want to slap them. (Sheesh! Sensitive!!!!)
5. Yes, I cannot find a position to sleep in that is comfortable at night.
6. Yes, I have sneeze peed.
7. Yes, I am very much looking forward to baby being out. Safely.
So, to all those moms at whom I snickered 8 months ago, I owe you all a big apology.

Monday, 5 Oct woah, you think its bad now....just wait til bundle of joy arrives and cries in public, you'll have all the tutting to deal with, not to mention the supposedly "well meant advice" maybe he's hungry, he's got wind, he's teething, he's got colic, he's overtired....etc, or the worst one, "can't you breastfeed your baby in the toilet?". Everyone's a critic and think they can mother your baby better than you. THAT is when overly-sensitive sleep deprived mothers really bare their teeth. I remember with DD1 I got so cheesed off, that I made a little sign and tucked it down the side of the pushchair. It read something along the lines of "I am sorry if my crying upsets you, it could be any of the following conditions (list like above) but my Mum has loved and cared for me for 9 months already, before offering my Mum advice can you say the same?" If I hadnt slept all night and was at risk of biting strangers heads off, I'd just calmly put the sign on her chest. If they dared come close enough one glance at the sign, and the advice would stop mid-sentence quickly followed up by a back handed compliment before scuttling away with embarrassment. Oooohh yes, this is what lies await for us in about 10 weeks when we venture out of the house for the first time after giving birth.....Good luck to us all! xxxx
