My mood while writing this blog: ... |
Like the end of the Bible, the last few weeks are like Revelations.
I was feeling pretty cocky, cuz up until a few weeks ago, my belly skin was still nice and smooth and stretchy. Yeah. And then about a week or so ago, I look down, and there are tiger stripes above my belly button (or rather where it used to be, because I've officially become an flatty-outie).
Stretch marks. Okay. Fine.
I'd gotten away with it up until now, probably because I used to be about 30-35 lbs or so overweight. So I already had stretch marks from those. I was just filling the old ones in. But. . . now I'm about 40 lbs. more than I was when I was not pregnant. So, okay. Stretch marks it is.
But Tuesday, I was sitting down, eating dinner with my husband while we watched WW II documentaries, and I looked at my foot. My foot? That could not be my foot!!! It's like a cankle!!!!
It was my foot. I had swelling in the ankle area. Both sides, actually. And both ankles, too!
Yikes! Funny thing is, I couldn't believe it. I was no longer paying attention to the movie. I poked at my ankle with my finger (difficult to do, as I can barely bend over these days). Pitting edema even!! Agh!
It was so bizarre to see edema in my own feet, and not in someone with congestive heart failure.
Oh well. So fine. Stretch marks. Swollen ankles. What's next? Oh, don't tell me. Let it be a surprise. :P

Saturday, 7 Nov That's funny and sad at the same time. I thought I didn't have stretch marks the whole pregnancy. Then after the birth I found them. They were near the c/s incision- so the UNDER side of my belly. The part that you can't see. blagh. And the swelling. Oh boy! I got an athletes foot infection the last month of my pregnancy and the 2 weeks before I gave birth it went epic. Blistering all over my foot, rash up to my knees. I didn't even recognize my lower legs any more. My toes were sausages. I looked like a patient with cellulitis! At least it will all be over soon.
