| 29-4-2009 - Physical Therapy Appt | My mood while writing this blog:happy |
So today I had my first physical therapy appointment and I would say it went well. The place I go is right up the street from where I work so I can go to these appointments on my lunch hour. Today she examined my pelvis since that was hurting the most and noticed that my left side pelvic/hip bone was curved forward and spaced out further than the other one. Boy that explains everything!
She adjusted it back into place gently and then showed me how to do some stretches. After the appointment it felt different and about an hour or so later it felt a lot better than it had. There are a number of factors that don't help of course, the long drive to and from work, crappy office chair sitting in front of a computer all day, etc. so she said it will probably loosen back up and go back out of place. I need to be more careful the way I sit and stand or event he way I get in and out of my car is so important. Also getting dressed in the mornings and possbily standing on one leg can put pressure in the wrong places.
She suggested I go back 2 times a week to work on stretches and strengthening my pelvic area. Then they are also going to help me out with my lower back and I will get some massage therapy! I am excited for that because my back has always killed me since I got hit by a car when I was younger. Then of course pregnancy doesn't help the pains either with added weight gain in the front half mostly. I also learned that the muscles in your pelvic area really loosen up when you are pregnant and never quite return to their normal selves. But I am sure you can get it pretty close to that with some exercise and stregthening moves.
I am looking forward to these next few appointments to get rid of some of that pain and learn some new things!
