| 12-10-2009 - Just another "little" update.. including our run-in with the cops! | My mood while writing this blog:happy and tired |
So Friday was my prenatal appoinment, it was just a basic, pee in a cup, get weighed, feel the tummy, fundal measurement, listen to the heartbeat appointment. Pee looked good, weight is doing great, only 1 lb gained again! So we're at a total of 10lbs from where I started (20lbs from my lowest after getting sick and losing weight in the first trimester). Fundal measurement was 32 cm, so a week ahead, but that's perfectly normal to be a week either way... so the NP said I was measuring right on. Her heartbeat was about 150, so still doing good! it was a really quick appointment, just in and out pretty much and everything is looking perfect, so Yay! I had some blood drawn for the CBC test to check iron levels and everything, haven't heard from them yet, so hopefully that's a good sign! :)
After my appointment I went out consignment store shopping (which I LOVE and am totally addicted to!) for baby/kid stuff, found a few clothes for Sarah, a ton of clothes for Bekah and a Leap Frog activity table (for $15!!) and a couple little things for my best friend's daughter's birthday. After we were done consignment shopping (aka the stores were all closed!) I drove out to Dallas with my friend Aimee and her husband to go pick up their changing table/dresser combo that she bought on Craigslist and then we went out to Red Robin for dinner.
Saturday Kevin put together some drawers for our utility room and Bekah helped him! It was SOOO cute! She was handing him parts and she used the handle end of a screwdriver to help him pound in the nails! She just wanted to help him! And I worked on laundry and started finding homes for the things that are temporarily piled in Sarah's crib. That evening Kevin and I decided to go on a walk with Bekah and the dog. We walked down to a nearby park (Wallace Marine Park for any of you who know the area). We left at about 6, so knew it would be getting dark before too long, but still felt like getting in a good walk... it started getting dark as we were heading home (a little quicker than we thought it would, but not the end of the world). As we were getting close to the exit of the park (proably about 30-40 feet away from the gate) a van drove in, and came to a stop about 10 feet behind us, a man we have never seen before jumped out of the passenger side quickly and started calling for us... we stopped and turned around and he said "I think that's my dog!" Of course we said "no, she's ours, we've had her for years and she's microchipped and registered to us" he asked if we minded if he took a look and we wearily said no (ok, the situation is a little weird when after dark a man jumps out of a van accusing you of having his dog.. because we would have a leash for it if it was a dog we just found??) so he started approaching us with his hands behind his back, it looked like they were tucked in the middle of his back maybe into his belt buckle? Well that made Kevin nervous so he asked the guy to take his arms out from behind his back, he didn't, he just kept coming towards me (I had the dog on the leash) Kevin asked him again, he didn't and kept coming, he saw that Sky has a short tail and said she wasn't his, his dog had a long tail, but he kept coming towards me with his hands behind his back so Kevin told him to stop and take his arms out from behind his back, when the guy didn't Kevin unsnapped his pocket knife's holster and started to pull it out (I honestly don't know if it ever cleared the holster, but I'm positive it was never opened) so the guy stops and starts yelling at Kevin "is that a knife? You just pulled a knife on me! I'm calling the cops! You just pulled a knife on me!" So the guy pulls out his cell phone and starts to call the cops and tells us to stay right where we were because he was calling the cops.. Kevin said "go ahead" and we walked off, we weren't going to spend anymore time with that @$$hole than we had to! So we're walking up the street and we get probably about 3-4 blocks down (right past the Chase driveway if you know the area) and a motorcycle cop is coming down the road with his lights on, so Kevin flags him over because he knows that he's there for us, and Kevin knows we didn't do anything wrong. So we tell the officer what happened, Kevin showed him the knife, said right up front that he didn't have a concealed weapons license but didn't think he needed one for that knife (which the officer confirmed he doesn't) and explained that he told him to stop, asked and then told him to take his arms out from behind his back mulitple times and then felt like he needed to defend his very pregnant wife and child, the cop said he didn't blame him at all, and if it had been him the guy would have had a hand gun in his face. We talked to him for a few more minutes, he checked Kevin's ID, asked if he had a record (he is spotless, not even a ticket!) called in his drivers license to make sure that he doesn't have one... and then let us go saying that the guy's complaint isn't going to hold up, we didn't do anything wrong. Kevin offered to give the officer his phone number in case he needed to get a hold of him for any reason and the officer said "do you ever want to see this guy again?" to which Kevin said "Definitely not!" and the officer said "I wouldn't either! Go ahead and get home and take your kid home, have a good night" and let us go! So that was our excitement for the weekend! After that we went out to dinner at Golden Tent that night (because I've been craving it for weeks!) with Jacqi and Josh, it was fun! and super tasty!
Sunday Kevin and I drove up to Portland and went to Ikea to get the second dresser for the girls' room. We also went to Target and got a couple cubbies to go in the girls' room back in the corner behind the changing table with fabric drawers to give us a little more storage. And then did some much needed grocery shopping.
Kevin put the cubbies together today after he got off work and tonight we're putting together the dresser for the girls' room. I'm SUPER excited! things are finally coming together! Now if only I had time and energy to completely clean and organize the house! lol!
It's been a busy weekend, but a good one (other than the park incident!)! Hope ya'll had a good weekend!
