| 02-11-2009 - Ultrasound Results | My mood while writing this blog:a little nervous |
So I had my last ultrasound last Thursday, it's the last time I'll see Sarah until she's born. I was running late again (stupid traffic on 99! seriously we were going 10 under the speed limit for half of my way home!!) which was frustrating because I left with more than enough time to get there under normal conditions, so of COURSE other drivers had to act like idiots! Anyway, so I got there a little late, but they still saw me, just said we wouldn't get to play as long as she had another appointment coming in shortly... So she checked again to confirm one more time that we are indeed having a girl, which we are! Yay! Honestly I'd be disappointed if they said boy now, for one we went all out with girl stuff, and for two, I've already fallen in love with my little girl! it's not that I wouldn't love a boy, I'm just attached to the little girl in me! We got a short glimpse at her face looking at us before she turned away (stinker girl!) and then the tech got down to work, looking at her organs and what not to see if they were functioning... while she wasn't allowed to tell us that everything looked good, she did tell us that a full bladder and a full stomach showed that they were working, and Sarah had both full! Then the tech took her measurements... this is where I get nervous! All of the measurements she took were measuring at an estimated 36 weeks (I was exactly 34 when we went in), except one, which measured 35 1/2 weeks.... now there is a wide range of what those sizes are normal for, the estimates of weeks are just an average, and she did say that the ranges got wider and wider the further along you are because babies grow at different rates in the 3rd trimester (which is why earlier ultrasounds are so much more accurate!)... then she said that the estimated weight as of last Thursday was 6 lbs 6 oz... this would put her "easily over 8 lbs if we go to 40 weeks" as the tech told us! I'm very nervous! if we go over I could be looking at a 9+ lb baby! I know women have given birth to bigger babies, but my uterus pooped out on me with my 8lb 5oz baby girl, what is it going to do with a bigger baby? and I had to have an episiotomy with Bekah, what about a bigger baby? unless Sarah's head cones more than Bekah's did I'll have to be cut again... which is not the end of the world.. and I'm scared to have a c-section! I know they're very common now, but it still terrifies me, the idea of being cut open like that... it's just one of those irrational fears of mine! I know she shouldn't be big because of the GD, because I'm not on insulin and I've had good control of my sugars with very few high numbers, and those are the factors that make big babies with GD. Apparently we just make big babies! Oye! I'm kinda hoping she comes a little early so she won't be quite as big! Last time Bekah was only estimated that she'd be around 7 1/2 lbs at birth and she was closer to 8 1/2! So understandably I'm a little nervous at how big Sarah will be since they're estimating her over 8lbs! Hopefully they're wrong! The tech with Bekah took the measurements a couple times, the tech we had on Thursday only took them once, so hopefully she just measured wrong!
On a more light hearted note the tech did say that it looks like Sarah's got hair! I can't wait to see her! Although I'm not looking forward to being away from Bekah for a couple nights, I've never been away from her overnight before :( But it will be worth it when we bring our second little princess home and I have both my girls with me!
I only have to get through this week and next week and then I'll be getting a loaner laptop from work so that I can work from home most of the time, my boss still wants me to come down once a week, but I can work from home the other days... I am VERY much looking forward to this as my leg cramps are getting worse and worse the further along I get, and I'm even get cramps in them while driving down to work.. no fun! But Sarah is worth it, so I'll try not to whine too much! :)
Ok, I'm gonna end this now because it's gotten WAY longer than I planned on! Later!
