19-11-2009 - Bekah is 18 months!

So last week on Tuesday (November 10th) my baby girl turned 18 months! I can't believe how big she is getting! She is so fun! She does have her tantrums, but for the most part she is a happy, fun, silly girl. She loves to make her daddy and I smile, and if she does something and realizes it makes us laugh, she does her best to repeat it! She runs around everywhere, and is definitely getting an opinion of her own!

She's a good little eater, she eats pretty much anything we put in front of her. She says so many new words that it's hard to keep track of, some of them still need to be translated (her please comes out "mmmmaaa" can't figure that one out), but most of them you can totally tell what she's saying... she says probably around 30 words or so now, it's crazy! She says thank you pretty clearly though, "ta ku" and she's really good about saying it when you ask her to!

She likes any toy that she can push a button and it lights up/makes sounds, but she doesn't like if they move on their own, or make the sound on their own, those make her nervous. She's extremely shy until she's comfortable with the situation/person, she does warm up, it just can take her a little bit. Once she warms up though, you can't stop that girl! When she's out shopping with mommy and daddy she likes to say hi and bye to anyone who'll listen. But if they talk to her she's instantly shy! and when she says bye, she sounds like a sweet little southern girl! It cracks me up! She's a very sweet girl!

She wakes up a very happy girl as long as she wakes up on her own. I LOVE going in to get her in the morning, I get this sweet, smiley, sleep tosseled hair girl who's reaching for me to scoop her up! I LOVE it! She gives hugs and kisses... complete with sound effects! mmmm for a hug (like she's really enjoying it) and mmmwah! for a kiss! She's learned how to blow kisses! So sweet!

She's got 13, almost 14 teeth, and is working on her second incisor now, those have been tough ones for her. She's good about getting her teeth brushed, but she's not a huge fan of going to bed, but once she's in her bed there's not much of a fight... I think she just doesn't like daddy and I leaving her. She goes to bed generally around 10:30 and gets up around 10 in the morning... a schedule that works well for mommy!

Her face lights up when she hears me come home or sees me for the first time after I've been gone at work all day!

She's recently started a phase where she doesn't like things where they're not supposed to be... if she finds something on the floor, like a cat toenail that's been shed, or a fuzzball even, she picks it up, looks very worried and hands it to me. It cracks me up! This unfortunately does not extend to picking up her toys at night! lol!

She LOVES when daddy and I chase her around, we'll often get on our hands and knees to get down to her level to do it and that leads to her crawling away instead of running away, which cracks us up, it's about the only time she crawls! Sometimes she'll even give us this silly grin and start crawling around to see if she can get us to chase her! She is so much fun and such a happy girl, she has brought so much joy to our lives that we didn't even realize we were missing!

On November 10th she also had her 18 month appointment. She had her last Hep B shot, her last DTAP/Polio shot and the flu shot and H1N1 shot, my poor baby! It was rough on her! She has to go back in another month to get her last Hep A shot (she was 6 days shy of being able to get it) and her second H1N1 shot. I'm not looking forward to that... she doesn't like the doctor's office... she cries every time the door opens, and looks nervous whenever she hears a door open or shut! She was 23lbs 8.5 oz at her appointment, which put her in the 38th percentile for weight, and she was 31 1/2" long, which put her in the 45th percentile for height... and her head was in the 70th percentile! I must be raising a genius! :)

Bekah baby, you are the light of your daddy's and my lives, we love you SOOOO much! We thank YHWH every day for you and will love you with all of our hearts forever!

You're making me cry! It's so sweet to hear you talk about how much you love your baby girl! We all KNOW you love her, but to hear it put into words...you made me tear up! You guys have done so well with her! She's amazing!
