28-9-2009 - This weekend

My mood while writing this blog: Happy

I'd like to start by saying I wish I had as much energy as the mood icon does!!

So I had a prenatal appointment on Friday. It went pretty well overall, but was frustrating. My appointment was supposed to be at 3, I got there at 3:02, no big deal… they checked me in and Kevin, Bekah and I sat to wait… and wait and wait and wait! While I was waiting Bekah got impatient of course, so Kevin and I were doing whatever we could to entertain her (she was tired already from only sleeping for an hour – her fault, not ours!), she was wanting up on the chairs and then down, and wanted to walk around and have free reign of the waiting room, which of course we couldn’t let her do because there were a ton of other people there, it was a busy day, and she doesn’t climb on furniture yet, so every time she wanted on a chair, Kevin or I had to pick her up and put her on it, and remind her to stay seated so she didn’t fall. It became quite the exercise in patience, and they didn’t even have toys or magazines in the waiting room because of flu season and the swine flu scare and all. We did meet a lady there who was 31 weeks along (so 2 weeks ahead of me) and she had her daughter there too, who just happened to be born on May 10^th too, so we were in the hospital together giving birth to our daughters and now we’re only 2 weeks apart in our second pregnancies, only difference is this time she’s having a boy! Lol! Finally Kevin took Bekah to change her diaper (I couldn’t leave in case the called me) and of course they finally called me back… at about 4:10!!! I couldn’t believe how long that wait was, I’ve never had to wait that long at that clinic! So they took me back and I tried to call Kevin and let him know, but he didn’t have reception, so I went back and they gave me a cup to pee in (which I just about exploded before getting, I’d chugged a water bottle because I’d peed shortly before leaving home cuz I couldn’t hold it longer) and by the time I got back to the room Kevin and Bekah were in there! :) so they dipped their stick, said everything looked good, took my blood pressure.. it was higher than I normally am, but still well within the normal range… 116/67 I believe, I generally am closer to 100-110 on top. The weighed me before peeing and I’ve only gained 1lb in the last 2 weeks, so I’m up to a total 12lb gain since they started weighing me (which was after I’d lost weight and started gaining some of it back) so it looks like so far I’m still right on track to not be more than 200 at birth which I’m excited about! But I realize there’s still time for that to change. They were going to do my iron test (no glucose test since I’m already diabetic) on Friday but my doc said I’ve been there long enough so that we’ll just do it next time since we’re into the 2 week appointments now. We asked and we are getting a 3^rd trimester ultrasound this time too! I’m so excited! I’ll get to see my little girl one more time before she’s born! We didn’t get the order to schedule it yet, but I imagine we probably will in the next appointment. My doc likes to measure babies growth to make sure she’s not getting too big. I also got my flu shot on Friday… OUCH! That sucker hurts! It hurts when they push it in and my arm was sore for 2 days after! Same as last time.

After my appointment we went out to Lowe’s, bedding set in hand, to get some paint matched and found out that they can’t match to fabric so we got as close as we could from the colors they had… the lady there was kind of an idiot.. she said we needed a paper sample for the machine to match to, but then insisted that we get the paint color from the brand we were going to buy.. uh, hello, if it only needs a paper sample, then what does it matter if the color swatch is from another brand?? Whatever, she was dumb! Anyway, we got it home and hubby and I decided it was too bright. It was called Lemon Mint, and after the fiasco painting with the paint my dad got last time around (mint, it was so bright it hurt to walk into the nursery!), I swore I’d never put another Mint on my wall… so hubby and I discussed it and finally came to the conclusion that we’d go with the light pink from the bedding. I swore I’d never have a pink girls room since I had one growing up and it was just too much pink, I got pinked out! But we got a nice pale pink and I think it turned out pretty well! Greg (my sister’s hubby) and Kevin played on the computer (and printed several samples) until I was happy with the color so that we could have a paper sample for the machine to match to, and then went and got the pink and painted the walls on Sunday. I think it turned out really well. It’s a little weird having a pink room when we had such a mellow, beautiful shade of green before (that I really loved, it just didn’t go with the new bedding), but I’ll get used to it, and it fits nicely for a room for 2 girls, and it really is a nice shade of pink. So the boys spent Sunday painting and Mindy (my sis) and I took care of the kiddos and ran errands, we went out and got lunch for everyone and extra painting supplies (some from Mindy and Greg’s and later some more painter’s tape) and Mindy and I ran out to Walmart and got a potty for Bekah, some sippy cups with straws (which apparently she’s a natural at using!), some silverware for Bekah (since we only had 2 forks for her before and the girl needs more forks, we were constantly washing them, she’s much better at stabbing food than she is at scooping with a spoon!) and then I found some super cute little black pants that I couldn’t resist getting for Bekah and an adorable little outfit for Sarah and I got a cute little outfit for my best friend’s little girl who has her 3rd birthday coming up in just a couple more weeks! And then I got some painters tape (as mentioned before) and groceries, but that’s not really all that terribly interesting! :) Mindy, who can’t help but spoil my little girl got her some cute little Granimals clothes, a little skirt, and 2 pairs of leggings to layer under it as well as 2 shirts to go with it (that coordinate with the leggings! Too cute! She also got a little something for my best friend’s daughter and some clothes for her little boy that were just too cute! I can’t remember for sure if she got them or if she was going to bring her hubby back, but she was looking at costumes for her little guy too, either a giraffe or a tiger… SOOOOOO adorable! Bekah is going to be an OSU Beaver’s cheerleader! Go Beavs!! :)

I skipped Saturday there… On Saturday Kevin helped Greg pick up a crib that my sis and Greg ordered for our good friends Aimee and Jason who are having their baby boy sometime around Nov. 1^st! And then Kevin and I searched online for quite a while and decided on our crib which Mindy and Greg and some of our friends are chipping in for and getting for us! We have great friends!! Then after that we went over to my sisters for our normal Saturday night get together and hung out till way too late watching Episodes of True Blood, season 2 that Greg got! I love that show!

So all in all got quite a bit done this weekend, not quite as much as I had hoped since Sunday I actually had a lot of energy and motivation to get things done, but my darling daughter would NOT nap! She got one nap that was less than an hour, and one that was about 20 minutes… she was in a playpen in our bedroom and apparently had a hard time sleeping in there… or maybe she was just having an off day, who knows, but I had some re-organizing that I was going to work on while she napped and I didn’t get it done, all I got was one load of her laundry folded and put away, and lunch fetched for all, and picking up some paint supplies from my sister’s house… that sounds like more than it felt like! Lol! I’m hoping that in the evenings this week I can have some time, motivation and energy to get stuff done since Kevin leaves really stinking early Friday morning to go hunting and doesn’t come back until sometime on Tuesday, probably afternoon or evening so next weekend is out for doing too much… hopefully I’ll have energy to get through some re-organizing/cleaning while Bekah naps on the weekend, and have some stuff done to surprise Kevin when he gets home!

Ok, now I’ve written a novel, and hopefully SOMEONE will be willing to read it since I put it all out there! Lol!
