07-4-2009 - Finally! A Huge Relief!

Well yesterday we traveled to see the Maternal Fetal Doctors who were to do an ultrasound to see how the baby was doing and to make sure this one didn't have the same traits of Trisomy 13 as my son did last year.. The ultrasound tech looked at the brain, kidneys, heart, etc.. We got to see each foot, each hand, his face, everything.. He looked GREAT!! My husband and I could definatly tell that it was indeed a boy. Then the doctor came in to talk to us and said everything looked "normal". My chances were 1/2400 of having another Trisomy 13 baby. I started to cry and the doctor said he hoped they were tears of joy and not pain. They were both. He said it was time for me to quit worrying and start enjoying this pregnancy. What a relief! It's hard when my youngest daughter asks me, "Mommy, is this brother going to live?" It breaks my heart that they had to watch thier little brother die and never get to "play" with him. This time it's going to be different though. I am very thanful for this pregnancy!

I am so happy for you and your family. what a relief!

You have been so encouraging and sweet to me during this difficult time for me. I see a specialist tomorrow, and the closer it gets to tomorrow the more I lose it. I am at work and I already had to lock myself in the restroom twice and just cry it out on the dirty restroom floor that I would otherwise have never sat on! I know you still live with the pain and I am sure what you have experienced has been heartbreaking.
