| 26-6-2008 - Week 10 | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
Well I saw the doctor today for me. My 6 week postpartum at ummm... almost 11 weeks. Guess that's what happens when you get rushed to Tripler right? Well The doctor was a real flake today. She came in and asked if I had questions. I asked a few... Is there something that I could take or do that I'm not already for increasing breast milk. She asked my routine and such. Well I bf in the morning before work, then pump. Go to work, usually try for 2 pumpings. Home and pump. Then bf and pump before bed. Well she asked how long for pumping, I told her about 20 mins. I told her about the breast pump we rented from WIC and it decreased my supply. She said that my milk is dried up. I told her it's not cuz I still produce about 1-2 oz a day... She said well you just cant bf then. I was apauled! I asked if there was anything that could help. She mentioned pumping at least 6 times a day for at least 20 mins each breast yada yada yada. I explained that that's really what I'm doing and taking fenugreek. She told me that I probably just couldnt produce milk. Some women can and some cant. I told her how much I really wanted to bf and wanted to try everything possible. She asked me if I swelled during pregnancy and if my boobs grew or got hard at all... My answer was no... She told me that I just didnt grow enough glands to make milk and that the glands that I have have to work overtime to produce what they do... therefore that I just couldnt bf. I then asked if next pregnancy it could correct itself and that I would be able to bf, and she said "no, you just wont be able to breastfeed, you dont produce milk. You didnt this pregnancy and you wont for any other pregnancy."
I was very upset at this. And you know she did the pap and looked at my boobs, and then asks me if I had a C-section... I said yes... (she's the one who took my staples out) and she goes oh, ok, well your uterus is normal. I'm thinking to myself well, she didnt even look at the scar to see that it healed up nice... she didnt do any of that.
