12-5-2009 - Urge to Push, Urination, Defacation Hesitation or just plain Crazy?

My Apologies for the Graphic Blog Topic.

I will try and explain what I have been experiencing the best way I can and I would appreciate any feedback.

For those of you that do not know, I am on bed rest. With that said, when I get up, particularly to go to the bathroom and I sit on the toilet to Urinate it feels like the baby drops down so low at times that I almost have to grunt and get the urge to bare down or "push." The only time in my life I had this uncontrollable urge to push was when I WAS pushing my first child out.

In fact sometimes it happens so suddenly I get a sharp pain in my vagina and it will cause me to tense up in reaction to the pain and make my flow of urine stop. Almost like I am trying to "kegel" him back up higher to stop the pressure/pain. It is a pain reaction that is involuntary and it startles me sometimes.

I am getting the same sensation when I have a bowel movement.

I do not get that urge to bare down sensation any other time but going to the bathroom because I am rarely out of the bed for any other reason but showering and meals.

I had my appointment last Tuesday and my cervix was 3.3 cm long and closed so I am doubtful I have any reason to be concerned,..... but since I have never carried a pregnancy this far along I would like to know if this is a common thing.
