29-6-2009 - 35 Weeks Appointment

I had my 35 weeks appointment today. I had been having alot of contractions and even had to go in last week to be monitored only to find out that I was having pre-labor contractions 4 mins apart, but baby looked great otherwise. I am having alot of pain in my cervix with the babys movements and a hot dull backache that will not go away as well as sharp intermittent cramps down below and shooting pains in my groin and down my legs that will stop me dead in my tracks. I knew this wasn't labor but I certainly knew SOMETHING was going on. Everyone around me was saying it looks like I have dropped.

I had my Strep B test today and after that my doctor checked my cervix. I noticed he didn't have to dig "in there" nearly as far and the look on his face was very different than it usually is. He said "The babys head is right there and your cervix is completely thinned." I guess this confirms that I indeed have dropped and the baby is engaged.

I was soooo excited to know I am making progress. So the cerclage is literally all that is holding my little guy in. My doc told me that if I notice any bleeding not to bother calling, to go straight to the hospital. I am supposed to be takng it easy but I am so anxious that it is hard to sit still. He is going to "try" and wait til July 2nd (Next Thursday) to take out the cerclage.

I am soooo ready to get this dialating on the road! I am trying to be careful though not to set myself up for disappointment.

All in all, todays appointment made this awful pain in my body worthwhile.
