19-1-2012 - Birth Story-I introduce my princess happyMy mood while writing this blog:
happy

Hi ladies sorry i havent been able to update like I normally would but having 3 babies is really hard work. SOOO here goes..

Monday Jan 9th I had my dr appt at 2:15pm. I was between 4-5 cm dilated and actually 80% effaced. My dr was really surprised that I was still pregnant. She asked me if I wanted to have a baby that day and I shly said "IDK" even though i was dying to say yes yes lol. She said how about I do a membrane sweep and see if you start to contract. So I said ok. She went ahead and did that. It def hurt. Then she said ill let you sit for about 10 min and if you dont feel anything we will put you on the monitor I said ok. So then the nurse came in and 10 min later and I told her nope dont feel anything. So she put me on a monitor. After about 20 min I started to get very small contractions very light not painful at all more like braxton hicks. they were about every 5 min apart so she said lets send you to the hospital and I'll let them know your coming and you have made some change in my office. I said ok.. She also told me to tell them that they hurt so they wouldnt send me home. It felt soo wierd to think ok this is it...kinda lol. Anyway I called SO and told him what was going on and he would show up from work if they admitted me. That was the plan. Anyway got to the hospital and checked in and they sent me up to L&D. It felt so wierd to go in hardly any pain and think Im really gonna have a baby today or tomorrow.?? They went ahead and asked me how dilated I was and I told them. THey decided to check just to make sure and said yup I would agree 4-5cm and 80% effaced. I thought ok so now what? Well they asked my wishes and I said I want to go completely natural this time no pain meds. This is my last baby and I want to experience true labor from beginning to end. Nurse said great then go ahead and change and hang out. After a short time my contractions started picking up just a tiny bit. Hubby and my mom got to the hospital. I got in the tub and I was having regular contractions but not painful at all. It was just too wierd. Anyway after a short time the nurse came in and said your contractions are regular but your dr called and wants to give you pitocin because she thinks your contractions may be tapering off. I said ok. They gave me pitocin and then let me walk around. Immediately my contractions were just a tiny bit stronger but still very manageable. I decided to straddle a birthing ball and slighlty bounce. Hubby played some hip hop/rheggeton music on his iphone and I was having a good time texting and updating my FB lol. at this point contractions were 2-3 min apart but I was still doing a very good job with the pain. I think its because I was so distracted and all. Then my MIL showed up and brought us smothered burritos ha ha so I ate a lil. hilarious I know. By this time it was already 8:30pm. Then all of a sudden contractions came 1-2 min and very very strong. The music stopped and my attitude changed completely. Pain was horrible. I decided to get back on the birthing ball and have SO rub my lower back while breathing through each contraction with total concentration. I was feeling tons of pressure down in my bottom and just tons of pain all over. They decided to check me and i was 7 cm. I was getting very frustrated so I decided to get back on the ball. It helped ton while I leaned over the bed. This time I asked my mom to rub my lower back practically my freaking butt because the pain was so low. Hubby held my hand from the opposite side of the bed. I would just occasionally open my eyes and look into his worried look. I managed to give him a smile even through the constant pain. Everything after this point is somewhat fuzzy because it all happened so fast and I was in so much pain. I remember saying I felt like throwing up and I was given a plastic cup. Then as the feeling came on stronger and so did the pain I was saying I cant do this I cant do this and just shook my head with loss of control. The nurse calmed me down and said yes you can and then yup I threw up. She said your body is in transition its ok you can do it. I knew that I was gettign close then. They decided to check me again and I was at an 8. It was just a little after 9pm. After that I was no longer able to get out of the bed because the pain. I just remember holding onto the railing of the bed with my eyes tightly shut breathing through each contraction. Then it went to moaning through each painful contraction. At this point I stopped feeling pain in my back, stomach and all and started to feel it in my thighs. Its was a painful numbing sensation and I just remember saying my legs my legs it hurts. I cant do this. I feel like I have to push. The nurse asked me to get on my back but it was so hard without everyones help. I didnt want her to check me because it hurt so much. I just remember her saying your 10, your ready. She called out for help for my dr or any other dr. and I just remember saying I got to push I got to push so she said put your legs back and I said no it hurts I cant it hurts. I need pain medication. She said its to late, baby is coming you can push. I just rremember pushing but trying to close my legs at the same time because the pain was entirely in my thighs. During this entire time my eyes were shut. Next thing I know baby was crowing and they kept telling me to relax my legs and pull them back because baby was coming out and I needed to let her out. But the pain was so bad that I felt like they were numb. Anyway with thier help I managed to and within a couple minutes and three pushes baby Nyah Kaylani was born at 9:53pm 1/9/2012. She came out super fast that my dr made it into the room just 10 seconds after she was born. She got there just in time to deliver the placenta which is a good thing because they immediately took the baby off of me and told me to push because I was bleeding alot. I heard a huge splash. They kept asking if i was ok and Hubby was so scared. I remember looking at him unsure if he should stay by me or go look at the baby. He stood frozen between the two of us. luckily they were able to stop the bleeding. They gave me pitocin and inserted some small pills down there to stop the bleeding and help the uterus contract. They rubbed my stomach so many times It was horrible pain. They brought baby over to me to nurse while they cleaned up the mess. My little girl was so tiny but an excellent sucker. She knew exactly what to do. Then I started to vigorously shake even with tons of blankets I was so cold. After they gave me 3 warm blankets I finally started to calm down. All was well after that. Afterwards baby Nyah was weighed and She weighed 6lbs 4oz. and was 18 1/2 " long. She was a small baby girl. Just 4 oz more than Azia weighed but 1" shorter than Azia. I am so proud that i did go natural this time. i really think its the total mind set in which we handle the pain. which is why I descibe it all as manageable and not painful because I was expecting it to hurt more than that. Im not gonna say it was easy or painless but the breathing really helped. total concentration for sure. I was unsure I was gonna be able to do it because I had not taken one of those natural birthing classes or anything. All I needed was the nurse helping me with my breathing rather than holding it all in or losing control. Anyway I did it and I am super proud of myself.♥ So I got to take home my baby two days later and then at her fist dr appt they did a belirubin test and her jaundice numbers were super high at 20.8. I was told to take her to children's hospital where she would be under lights. I spent Friday and saturday night in the NICU with my baby girl and she was released sunday afternoon. That entire time I was in horrible pain that I could barely walk. My stomach was very swollen and my blood was super thin. I had a bad blood nose just by bending over. I had no energy and was super tired. I dont know if it was because of the hemorrage after labor or because I had come home to care for Azia, Gio, and the baby by myself with no help at all. I dont know but thankfully I am feeling a million times better and so is Nyah. My stomach has gone down completely and I have lost all the weight I gained from the pregnancy. its awesome. well gotta go Nyah is hungry again...her pic will be in the last page of the photo section as soon as i post this. thanks

I'm so proud of you too!!! It is a great feeling to be able to say we had our babies naturally. Though mine was unintentional, I totally will have my third baby naturally just because I know I can and it was so much better. Anyway...super happy for you!!! I'm glad it was a pretty good experience for you. Congratulations again and I hope all is going well at home!

Congratulations again! She's gorgeous. I went completely natural this time too. It was definitely a wonderful experience and I plan to continue this way for the next pregnancy. I agree with everything you said about it. You put it in perfect terms. It is all in your mindset. Congrats again and good job mama!

omg you're reminding me of what's to come!!! i just remember how painful everything was at 4 minutes apart before i got the epidural - i can't imagine how much more painful it gets right at the end - or at least how much more painful it seems when they're coming 1 minute apart and lasting a minute. ::shudder:: good job! i'm not that brave!

Wonderful birth story! It sounds pretty much the same as what happened when I had Jenny! I also got the terrible shakes after I gave birth to her which freaked hubby out to no end. After reading your story I'm so ready to have my baby.
