15-3-2009 - I'm still pregnant!!!

My mood while writing this blog: totally and completely thrilled!

Okay, so here it goes! You all know that I went to the emergency, had a urine test done, had a blood test done and had an ultrasound done. The final diagnosis was that I had a complete miscarriage. So, we mourned, I sobbed, end of story. Well, not quite! After finding all this out, a couple days later I'm at home and get really nauseous so I lay on the couch until my husband gets home. The next day my breasts are killing me and it feels like pins and needles. In the mean time I'm figuring that my hormones are just out of whack. I'm now waiting for my period and one evening I wipe and there's about a quarter sized amount of pink blood on the tissue and I think, here it comes! Later that evening, a little more pink, okay. Next day I wipe and the blood is now brown all day long, every time I wipe. Then it just stops. So now I'm wondering what's going on, did they miss something, is there a piece of something still in there. So I call my nurse and I'm told to come in on Thursday to have another ultrasound. While I'm talking, the nurse pulls up my emergency room file and says, "they told you that you had a miscarriage?", I say yes and she proceeds to tell me that when they did the ultrasound they found the sack and it measured 5weeks 2days and they wrote down "possible miscarriage". At least that's what I understood she was saying to me. So, Thursday rolls around and I have no idea what to expect, I mean, it still can't be good considering the sac only grew two days right? So, I get up on the table, they stick the probe in and within a couple seconds, there's my little baby heart ticking away at 134bpm! I could not stop smiling! It was the most beautiful thing ever! My husband had a smile from ear to ear as well! Then I go to the nurse's station for my doctor's appointment and she asks how it went. I let her in on the info and she said she knew what they said didn't sound right since they had actually found my BABY, not just the sac but my BABY and my baby was measuring 5weeks 2days with a heart rate of 115!!! What in God's name??? I was floored, not to mention pissed! What they had put me through was unbearable, how could they have found my baby and then come and told me that I had miscarried!!! But whatever, I am over it now and am just thrilled that my precious little baby is still with us hanging on! Oh, she also measured 7weeks 2 days which was exactly where i was at, so either the ultrasound tech in the emergency room measured her wrong (suprise, surprise) or she grew a heck of a lot in one week!!! Well, I'm just excited and still a little nervous and I will be until I'm well into my second trimester!
