8 weeks 3 days ultrasound.

March 6th
I had my first appointment with my OB today. All my blood work from my 8 week nurse appointment came back perfectly fine. I was so relieved that the doctor was able to find a heartbeat!!! 169 BPM!!! We talked about different prenatal testing that she would like me to do. I agreed to the new Ultrascreen test for sure. The next test would be the AFP followed up by a level II ultrasound. After some research I discovered that the AFP is the same thing as the triple marker test so I plan to discuss this with her at my next appointment since I don't want the triple marker test done due to the high false-positive rate. Appointments have been made for the Ultrascreen, which involves a blood test followed up by a detailed ultrasound. The blood test will be March 10th and the ultrasound on March 25th. My level II ultrasound has also been scheduled for May 6th.

Freak-out day! Had some spotting yesterday so I headed into the doctor's office for her to check on the baby's heartbeat. I was relieved to hear it still beating strong at 162BPM. I recorded the sound on my MP3 player. Here's the only way I figured out to be able to share it:

Ultrascreen Day!
Katie, Ashley, Ryan and my husband came with me to the ultrasound today. Julia didn't want to ruin her perfect attendance record at school so she opted to go to school instead...crazy girl! We were AMAZED at how developed the baby is already! The doctor was very patient and took his time to show us everything we wanted to see. His preliminary assessment is that we are having another little girl, but he makes no guarantees till after our 19 week ultrasound on May 6th! Everything looked PERFECT! Our risk for Downs or other Trisomy disorders was lowered based on this test. The little heart was pounding away at 153BPM. Baby was measuring a little big too, 13 weeks 5 days instead of 13 weeks 1 day. I have big babies so that doesn't surprise me! "She" looks beautiful! Here are some pics:

Another great appointment! Not much exciting to talk about today. Baby's heart is 155BPM. We could hear the little one moving around so that was pretty cool. The doctor asked what I had decided about the AFP. I said I'd rather not, she was fine with that decision! We're still set with the next detailed ultrasound on May 6th. We'll know gender for sure that day.

It's a GIRL!!! We had our ultrasound today. Everything looks great! Baby was moving around like crazy. They estimate that she is about 9 inches long and weighs about 10 ounces. Heart rate was 155 today.

22 week check-up. After nearly an hour of waiting the doctor finally came in to see me. Baby sounded good...heart rate was 135 today. She confirmed that everything from my last ultrasound looked great. She told me that I'll have 2 more 4-week appointments...so June 26th and July 24th...and then I go to 2-week appointments. It's flying by! I signed consent for my tubal and we're going to plan to have it done right after the birth if things work out with timing. If that doesn't work out then I'll go in a couple of weeks after for the procedure.

26 week check-up. Everything is going well. Baby's heart rate is 156BPM today. This is the first time my dr. has measured my belly...and I'm measuring 30cm...yikes! I have to schedule my glucose screening for sometime between July 1st and the 15th. That should be fun!

July 24th
30 week check-up. Another good appointment. Baby's heart rate is at 145. Belly is measuring 32cm so only 2 cm over the norm instead of 4! My glucose test results came back...everything is normal. One problem though, my blood work showed that I'm severely anemic. We'll have to work on that. They'll check my iron levels in a few more weeks to see if we've made any improvement.

32 weeks...time is flying!!! I've been sick over the past. I was in the ER for heart irregularity on July 27th. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with me and sent me home saying I was a little dehydrated and had a mild UTI...pft! The problem got worse in the days following my ER visit so my GP ordered a 24 hour heart monitor, which I got today. It itches like crazy and I can't wait to rip it off in the morning! Wouldn't it figure though that now that I have this darn thing on, my heart isn't doing what it had been doing when it was at its worst!

Baby's heart rate is back up to the 150 range. While I was sick baby's HR was in the low 140's so I'm really glad it has come back up. Belly is measuring 33cm today. I had to see a different doctor today as my regular OB was on vacation. I took the opportunity to talk to her about a few things regarding labor and delivery. She let me know that I'd be filling out my labor wish list soon...very excited about that! I don't want a repeat performance of my labor with my son!

August 21st
34 week check-up. Baby is sounding great! HR is 156...belly is measuring 36cm. She told me that I was 'following my pattern' for growth and estimates my baby will be 8 to 8 1/2 lbs to which I added...probably 9 and she said, yeah, maybe! I just grow them big, what can I say! We discussed the trouble I had been having with my heart and speculate that perhaps it might have been a virus since all symptoms have completely gone away. I just hope that no harm was done do the baby because of the whole ordeal. Next appt in 2 more weeks when I get to do the oh so pleasant swab test, du, du, dunnnnnn!! I only have 5 more appointments scheduled for this pregnancy. It doesn't seem possible that it's coming to an end so soon! I hope I can pull everything together to be ready for her...oh, and picking a name would be nice too!

September recap
The past few appointments have been uneventful. The dr. has not measured my belly size and the HR has been all over the map. We got our hopes up last week (9/16) when the dr. told me I was 3cm dilated and 80% effaced but that didn't amount to anything! The baby has seemed to move back UP instead of working her way farther down! LOL Good thing I'm not in a huge hurry for her to make her world debut!!

And just cause I was paranoid that she was going to grow some extra parts I had them check to make sure she was still a girl. I'm happy to report that she is, in fact, still a baby girl with one chubby looking little butter butt!! LOL
