22-11-2009 - Baby Ella update and pictures!

Hi mommies! I am so proud to say that my little Ella Rae is here! She was born at 9:54 am on Thursday, November 5th weighing 6 lbs 2 oz and 19 inches long. I know that it has been a little over two weeks since I wrote and she was born, but I have been busy being a new mommy! I am sure you all understand. Anyway, I have posted some pictures of her if you want to check them out! So, I am doing great, and she is totally the best baby ever! I am so in love! She is actually doing better than me! I ended up having to have a c-section, and now I think it might be infected, yuck! Although, the actual procedure was only about 15 minutes long and not to bad at all! I really wanted to breastfeed her, but unfortunately, I am only making about 1/2 ounce of milk per day with pumping, and she has lost down to a dangerous 5 lbs 2 oz, so I am having to formula feed her! I am a little dissappointed, but it is really what is best for my little angel. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and that I will hopefully be back on here more regularly, as I miss you all and can't wait to see/hear about your babies! Congrats to everyone!

soooooo happy for you, isn't being a mommy the greatest thing on earth.... it puts everything else into perspective.... enjoy it .... everyday..... it goes by fast!!!

Was wondering when we'd have a update from you. Glad everything is good with Ella. Don't be too disappointed about not breast feeding at least she is getting the food that she needs now. You make sure you take care of yourself and your scar. Big hugs xx

congrats on a healthy baby girl! she is beautiful :) I know how dissapointed you are about not breast feeding, this happened with my son and then when I had my daughter, my milk didn't come in for 5 days, she lost almost a pound of her birth weight, but thankfully when it did she started gaining quickly. With this baby, my milk didn't come in for 3 days, so when I got home from the hospital, I pumped constantly, and thankfully she is getting more than enough now :) The doctor was worried because she lost down to 7lbs 5 oz. and was jaundiced alittle so I did have to supplement a few bottles, but thankfully my milk is in now with no problems. Hope you heal quickly from the c-section, I know how that is no fun, my first one got infected, but thankfully this time around I am just really sore mainly because I tried to do too much when I came home last week and started bleeding again so I am taking it easy this week. Anyway, it is good to hear from you, post more pics when you get a chance, she is adorable!

See if your Dr cant get you on something to see if that will help your supply, and dont give up, KEEP working at it and i would do it every 2 hours for AT LEAST 20 mins on each side that might help increase your supply as well! Good luck Your little Ella is BEAUTIFUL!!!

i know how you feel on the breast feeding. my baby was 7lbs 12oz and is now 7lbs because i wasn't getting enough in. like not any hardly at all and i think i was all blocked up. i did amazing with my first pumping and breast feeding and all so i'm really upset i had to switch to formula cuz it seems to make baby spit up a lot and i worry so much that i'll put him down and he'll spit up and i won't know. i always worry so much. but i'm glad you are both ok. hope the infection clears up for you and your baby gains her weight back fast as i hope mine does too. i feel like it's my fault he's lost weight cuz i didn't realize i wasn't feeding him like i should have been able to. good luck with everything. and congrats.
