| 28-1-2009 - Question About Induction! |
My mood while writing this blog: Curious! |
Hi Ladies
For those of you that read my post yesterday know that my doctor is considering having me induced if, Muffin doesn't pop out on her own by Monday. I must admit that I am very fearful of being induced because of some of the things, I have read. I've decided that I will go as long as possible without pain meds, and if the meds become necessary that I will go with demoral instead of the epi because I am not keen on anything penetrating my back. However I've read if you need pitocin that usually people end up with the epi. I do not know how true that is. So my question for those of you that have been induced did you also have the epi because the contractions were that horrific?

Friday, 30 Jan With my Pie, I had to be induced at 38 weeks cos of my high blood pressure, even though that was all normal and posed no danger. The induction began at 7pm Sunday and then at 9ish my oby/gyn broke my waters and I had Pie around 11am. But I never got an epidural. My hubby thinks I almost broke his hand that I was squeezing, like the contractions were pretty full on. Just remember, your body can do this! Well, that's what I told myself. I made my face go all red, the blood vessels broke, that was kinda ugly. I mean, I'm not into pain or nothing but I guess it just happened quickly for me and the nurses were awesome with their support so I'd have to say I had a pretty positive experience. Good luck! katesmommy -
Friday, 30 Jan I was induced with my little princess three months ago...the pain is still fresh in my mind...however...i would love to be pregnant again...not because i loved pregnancy-I HATED BEING PREGNANT!!! But being a mom is the most amazing thing in the world! Anyhow, I used the same mentality you are...start with the narcotics, then if I NEEDED the epi-just do it!!
Well, I ended up with the epi. And i was able to get some sleep. the epidural really was nothing! And afterwards you will rest and re-energize...you will need your strength. Beauti, you will do just fine. Your body knows exactly what it is supposed to do. You''l do great. tasha1977 -
Friday, 30 Jan I had an epi with both of my children. I went into the hosital bc my water broke (this is my 2nd pregnancy). I was admitted at 8:30 a.m., but I wasn't dillating. My Dr then decided like at 3 p.m. that I need pitocin because my labor wasn't progressing. I wasn't really in that much pain. But because I watched Discovery Health every day all day, I was scared of the effects of the pitocin. I told my Dr that I need an epi if I had to get pitocin. With my son I had to get an epi, the pain was unbearable. So it wasn't a problem getting another one with my daughter. I didn't feel a thing. By 6:38, she was here. I vomited and she came out. I didn't even have to push. It was wonderful. LOL ariana octavia -
Friday, 30 Jan there is nothing to fear about the induction. I had one in my first delivered. The contraction also not that terrified. Just scream as hard as you want, it helped ! =) stillsexy08 -
Friday, 30 Jan hey girl i was induced thursday and the piticon that they gives help increase the contractions and i mean that when they hit u they are nothing to play with cause they will get up to lasting 1 minute long and i ended up having to have a c section because i stop dialating at 4 cm and they had to take her but once i got my epi i was set to go no more pains at all rere78 -
Thursday, 29 Jan with my first i was all natural so her being my second thought i'd be good, right? WRONG! i was admitted in at 3am and for 3 hrs took it with the pitocin where the contractions were coming hard and every 2min well when they checked me i was still at 3cm and cried for the epidural. All u feel is pressure on ur back and they are doing it while ur having the contractions so you are barely gonna feel anything..if you want to hold out go for it, but just make sure u have the epi paperwork signed, just in case--Good Luck, and labor dust 2 u =) Coco102479 -
Thursday, 29 Jan I had pitocin due to my membranes ruptured and I was not dilating. I did not recieve any pain meds. But also that was my 2nd baby so the labor was quicker. pitocin does make contractions stronger and they hurt awful. So good luck. Again don't make yourself suffer there is nothing wrong with epidural your body can relax and do what it has to. Demerol is going to take the edge off the pain and not take it completely away. Also the further along in labor you get they might not give you narcotics due to it goes to the baby and the baby will be sleepy when born and they don't want that. They want the baby alert and crying to clear the lungs. In what ever you choose good luck. cheyenne -
Thursday, 29 Jan I just had my little guy yesterday. After my water broke I still wasnt dialating enough so they had to induce me. The pain is absolutely horrific and I could not imagine it without an epidural. I had regular contractions for the first 12 hours then induced contractions the rest of the time and the induced contractions were horrendous without the epi. I was in ACTIVE labor for 35 hours by the way. I hate needles but by the time I got my epi it was a godsend! JUDE 2 -

Wednesday, 28 Jan When the time comes, you will not even feel anything go into your back. I did not have any meds (not by choice) and, for me, it was awful. But whatever you choose, it will be what is right for you. And after she comes out, and you see her beautiful face, it will all be worth it! gamama31791 -
Wednesday, 28 Jan BOTH of my children were induced and soon i will be going on three. As far as something going in your back. Honey you DONT even feel it b/c the contractions will be so hard. I loved being induced, in fact Im having this one induced for the simple fact I want MY dr to deliver her and im going to do it on a night that he's on call b/c there are 5 dr's in his office. My first child took 5 hrs total labor, and second took only 3. Im curious to see how quick this one will go. I recommend the induction and epidural b/c girl i will be doing both in 13 weeks. mamix2nluv -

Wednesday, 28 Jan I was induced at 12am and held out until 5:30pm because I could not stand it anymore. That's when I hit 5cm and it gets worse after that after an epi either you can't feel anything or you feel a lot of pressure but you are comfortable. andriette and christians mummy liz -
