My mood while writing this blog: Nervous! |
Hi Ladies
I NEED HELP!
I am breast feeding, Muffin but my left breast is engorged, and I have no idea what to do. I am still able to breast feed her from my right breast, and I don't want my milk to dry up...ANY SUGGESTIONS??? Also is it possible that my milk is drying up? I am so nervous

Sunday, 15 Feb you are not drying up.. both my breast weere engorged because jr wasnt latching on and in fact he didnt start latching on until 4 days ago. i was puming non stop but to answer your question jus put a hot cloth on the breast and pump it should come down a lot after cuz thats what happened to me. now im filling up breast pads like crazy and jr is sucking me into a coma literally cuz after a feeding im dead tired begging someone to look after him or for him to fall asleep so i can eat and take a nap..lol femi -
Saturday, 14 Feb warm/hot shower or towels on the breast and try to keep breastfeeding on that side when you can or at least pump it. the engorgement will go soon. mamix2nluv -
Friday, 13 Feb you should use hot wash clothes...take a nice warm/hot shower and just let the water hit your chest...it feels kinda good and gets the milk going...also try wearing a good support bra *maternity or otherwise is up to you* but definitely...warmth always works up there... barunka05 -
Thursday, 12 Feb I had the same problem when i just started with my son. His pediatrician actually helped me a lot. She said to put warm wash cloth on it and take a hot bath try squeezing from it then when the nipple got softer try to feed from it. I tried and he didn't want it so she used a nipple shield and squeezed a little milk from the other breast on it so he would get the taste of it and start feeding. I used the shield couple more times and than it was ok. Just make sure u switch both breasts between feeding so it doesn't happen again. She also told me to put one unused diaper in the freezer and after feeding from that breast put the frozen diaper on it to keep the milk flow.It worked perfect and after a week of bf we started doing good and we are still bf only at three months. Thursday, 12 Feb Massage breast to stimulate milk production and feed her with that breast - alternate between each breast when you feed her. Warm compresses will help. Good luck! You will be fine. ReRe78 -
Thursday, 12 Feb the first two weeks I would have Morah on one side for 10 min and then switch her so that I wouldnt be in pain with either side-or the pumping and warm compression works too>>keep it up and even though times may be hard with it-dont give up! ^_^ Good Luck! AllyCat62683 -
Thursday, 12 Feb My son wouldn't breast feed at all so I had to pump as much as I could and that was the only saving grace I had because my boobs are sticking straight off my chest and it was soooo painful. adnorel -
Thursday, 12 Feb I used a warm wet wash cloth and placed on my breast then took a heating pad and put it over that. Then I took a nap with that on. I felt much better that evening. prettybrowngirl -

Thursday, 12 Feb You should try a warm compress. Then while breast feeding make sure that you switch sides. Don't feed from just one breast. That will help with the engorgement. You can also try a warm shower and express the milk while in the shower. That should help. You can pump the other side as well after muffin has fed on the other breast. katey25 -
Thursday, 12 Feb Try massaging your breast to stimulate the supply. Also make sure you are emptying 1 breast per feed rather than 10 minutes each one - hope it gets better x liz82 -

Thursday, 12 Feb i went to a breast feeding class on Saturday and the lactation nurse said to try and put ice on it between feedings and right before u feed her but some heat to get things flowing again. And if u feel urself filling up before she is ready wake her up and feed her or pump. hope that helps. good luck
