20-2-2009 - Breastfeeding Question!!

My mood while writing this blog:
Curious!!

I think Muffin might be using my breast for more than just feeding! I think that she's also using it as a pacifer. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, and if it was normal?? I plan to ask her doctor the second of, March when she has an appointment.

Hey Momma, Just checking in with you. I'm so proud you were able to breast feed. Madison would not latch and preferred the Similac over the breast milk. Oh well. Getting any sleep yet? Somedays I'm like a zombie. I swear this weekend she was drinking coffee and popping no doze like beybey's kids...lol. But I'm blessed because she is a good baby. She may be awake but not fussy so we get to play. Kiss muffin for me! Take care,

Yeah that's normal. To this day, my daughter still just sucks to go to sleep. I have to remove my breast and replace it with the pacifier. Because she's not really drinking, just sucking. They like the sucking sensation.

yeah she may be and she may grow out of it. or she may just need that many feedings. in the beginning, i nursed every hour on the hour. and up to now, she still sometimes uses my breast as a pacifier. my sister nursed her son for a year and her advice is to take the baby off the breast when he/she falls asleep.

dont use a pacifier when your breast feeding if you are it confuses the baby. Mine messes with my nipple and laughs at me sometimes lol

baby need to suck more than just for feeding. so some of the time she is spending on there will be for sucking excercise and is important to the success of your breasfeeding experience, but realistically a pacifier will also help and leave you a little more time to do other things... I hope this helps.

I am actually going through this right now as well, I have been using a pacfier and i try to hold him off for at least two hours but it's not working as well as i like, i dont know what to tell you other then yes i am also going through this lol

My daughter would do that too. She'd be on me over an hour and It wasn't just eating. They say when they start to do that or fall asleep, to bother them so they start sucking. I also found out that I wasn't making enough milk, so she also could have been trying to eat, but she was defenitely using me as a pacifier... :)
