11th July 2008 (5 weeks, 5 days)
Found out this morning that I'm expecting. Came as a little bit of a surprise! I went to donate blood one week before, not knowing I was pregnant, + I was turned away for having low levels of haemoglobin. I felt tired all the time, looked pale + was having irregular periods so put this down to some sort of iron deficiency..Until I woke up feeling hungover everyday - so decided I should take a test and it was positive! Only problem is I have no idea when it happened + because I have had such strange cycles for the last few months, I'm not sure how far along I am! I expect I'll have a dating scan at some point (I'm still reading up about all this pregnancy stuff!) I've told my boyfriend, who was shocked but very supportive..Now we just have to let our families know..
14th July 2008 (6 weeks, 1 day)
Told Mum this morning at a Garden Centre, of all places! She was lovely about it - well Mum's are supposed to be! She has said that I can continue to live at home with her + Dad until me + my boyfriend save up enough money to move out. She's advised me to keep quiet about the pregnancy until after the 12 week mark, just to make sure everything goes ok..that means keeping it a secret for about another month!!
16th July 2008 (6 weeks, 3 days)
I had my first Drs appointment today. I wasn't sure whether I should have booked straight into see the midwife or go to my GP first..so went with GP! Turns out I didn't really need to. He just asked if I had started taking Folic Acid + took my BP. Then he asked me to book a clinic appointment with the Community Midwife - 21st July. I've heard that this appointment is very brief + just an introduction but I should expect a long appointment with the Midwife at around 12 weeks. Morning sickness is awful, I've been keeping a bottle of ginger beer by the side of my bed and have little sips, which does help. I swear the sickness starts at exactly midnight! I'm starting to look a bit tubby, but I think I've just been scoffing my face more than usual..
21st July 2008 (7 weeks, 1 day)
Had my first appointment with the Midwife today. I just got given a pack of information leaflets. My dating scan will be in a couple of weeks. I will have bloods taken + a longer appointment with the Midwife next time, at around 13 weeks.
27 July 2008 (8 weeks)
The morning sickness has started to ease off a bit now. I still feel a bit yukky first thing in the morning but once I get some breakfast in me, I feel much better! Haven't gained much weight yet, any flab I have put on has probably gone straight to my boobs - they're massive!! Just a shame they hurt so much..especially at night. Ouch! Still waiting for my dating scan appointment to come through. I just want to know that everything is ok with my little Fig (this is the (odd) name that my partner has decided to name our growing bubby!) Hopefully the appointment letter will arrive tomorrow morning!!
01 August 2008 (8 weeks, 5 days)
Finally got my appointment letter in the post - I have my first U/S on the 12th August at 3:30pm! I'll be exactly 12 weeks on that day (going by LMP). I can't wait to find out if everything is ok. I'm such a worrier!
