31-8-2008 - Countdown to 2nd U/S + telling Dad!!!

My mood while writing this blog: Nervous

Argh!!! I'm going mad thinking about Tuesday. On the one hand, I'm so excited about my 2nd scan + finally having an accurate (ish) due date, getting to see baby, etc. BUT this also means announcing the news to my Dad and my boyfriend's parents. I have no idea how they will take it but I can't imagine they will be happy. I still have a year + a half to go with my nurse training, my boyfriend has just left Uni + is currently unemployed after getting referred for his degree..so he is spending day + night re-doing his sketchbook for submission mid-September. Who knows what he'll do after that! I reckon Dad will be more worried about me + James's finances, rather than our abilities to be parents but I'm just so scared that he'll hit the roof. Me + Dad have always had such a good relationship, I hope that this doesn't ruin it. As for James's parents..I dread to think what they will say. He's an only child and has always been spoilt + pressured into having a good career before settling down. Although they are both lovely, they have extremely old-fashioned views so the prospect of their grandchild being born out of wedlock will probably not be well-received! Ooops. If anyone has any ideas on how to break the news, that would be great. At the moment, all I have come up with is "So..you're going to be grandparents earlier than expected.." I will wait until next weekend before telling them. I have to go to my Uncle's wedding on Friday + the thought of being in a car for 2 hours with Mum, Dad, James + lots of negative feelings just doesn't sound like my cuppa tea!!
