22-9-2008 - 3rd Midwife Appt + Wow..Shocked!!! (16 weeks)

My mood while writing this blog: Soooo Happy!!!!

To say that I'm happy would be an understatement! I am over the friggin' moon!!! :D I had my 3rd Midwife appointment yesterday. I had bloods taken to check the risk factors for Down's and Spina Bifida, will get the results in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed all is ok :) The student midwife felt my tummy + quite high up too, which means that I must be bigger than I thought I was! She then listened to baby, the heartrate was 138-146, which she said was good. To top it all off, I swear I felt Fig move - just the lightest little flutter but I'm so sure it wasn't digestion! I have my next appointment at 25 weeks, but will be having the anomoly scan at between 18-21 weeks.

Now for the shocker.. Me and James got back from the midwife appointment and decided we just needed to tell the parents about baby. I announced the news by saying "You're going to be grandparents in March", looked at my Dad's face and he was smiling!! SMILING!! He was actually happy!!! They both stressed that they would support me with this + would help out once I go back to studying. I showed them the scan pictures, which they loved + Dad even asked to scan them on to his computer :) We stayed at my house for dinner + then had to brave James's parents. We decided it should come from James's mouth, seeing as I had told my parents..he should tell his! He got them to sit in the lounge with us + pretty much said exactly the same thing that I did. James's Mum had a look of disbelief on her face + one of the first things James's Dad said was "Well call me old-fashioned, but I was hoping that you would have been married before having children" Haha. We showed them the scan pics + they both welled up and ended up opening a bottle of bubbly!! Wow..what a night! What was I worrying about?!
